I remember when this place first opened. It was such a cool concept but in the last few months it has just become horrible. My friends and I would come in and load up on tacos but not anymore. I came in and ordered a taco. The tortilla wasn’t cooked all the way, the meat was lukewarm at best, and the guacamole was brown. It was absolutely disgusting. The service isn’t much better. The staff seems uninterested and inconvenienced when you walk in the door. Never again.

Good place for a quick lunch. We stopped in our way from the museum. All of our tacos were good. The sauce choices were excellent. The ice machine was broken and the front staff seemed to be confused by the fact. We were finally offered nice after asking for it twice. The tables need to be buses quickly. Left overs at dirty tables is not an appealing atmosphere.

Very good. Much better than other quick service taco places like Chipotle or Moes. I had the Boss Hog, which had carnitas, slaw, cheese, plantain, and this spicy BBQ sauce called wicked sauce. Wife had the lo carb naked bowl and loved it. The only mark against the place was that the combo meals, which add a drink, chips, and a tiny thing of either queso or guacamole, were very expensive, didn’t seem like much of a deal. The tacos by themselves were huge though, and very reasonably priced. A very nice feature was the salsa bar with lots of options. Crema on the salsa bar was very nice, a lot of places would charge for that. It was fantastic. Definitely coming back!

As a student at NC state, seeing this place being built and one of the first people to try it out, I’ve been twice. I forgot why I haven’t been back. Being so close to campus, the pricing for food is as subpar as the portions. Being scoffed at by employees for being bewildered by paying almost three dollars for a 4oz side of queso. If you want tacos that blow these out of the water, try el toro off of tryon road.

Last night was my second visit to Wicked Taco. I decided to hit the drive through with some friends since it was getting a bit late(we were still there about 45 minutes before closing) and we were starving. We were the only car in the drive through line and our food took longer than 15 minutes to get out to us while we were just sitting at the window… While I love the concept and the food sounds amazing on paper, it mostly gives you the«meh…» feeling. Nothing special really. The tacos are pretty big though, and most people would be set with one. The combos are pretty expensive(why does it add $ 5 for chips & a drink??). Also, I ordered a combo with queso and they gave me guac instead. Didn’t hurt my feelings too bad since I love guac also. Oh well.

I had to see what this place was about, since it is 5 minutes from the house. Wicked Taco has a lot of interesting reviews from the time it takes to order to the different types of tacos. Yes I will say it does take longer than expected for drive –thru, but I always wanted to know why. I asked about the time and found out that all their food is prepared to order. Fresh greens, chicken, sides, chips etc… and I’m actually thankful for that. If it takes a little longer for the order that’s fine with me. I know every taco and fundido dip I have order taste great. Now I have had my issues from not getting everything I ordered. But Quincy the manager/shift lead helped with that and apologized for the mishap. I will definitely go back since everything has been explained. The Wolfie Taco is a game changer and you get a hefty meal.

To start, food quality is great! I love the fish tacos and the spices are very good. I do not like the drive through section though, needs some serious work. I went through a few days ago and got chips n guac and a fish taco. This order took them 6 minutes to complete which I think is way too long for a place that has everything pre-made. The time I went was at about 3:30, not a rush hour which is why I’m upset with a 6 minute wait time. One other thing I have to complain about it the amount of food you get. The tacos are well priced and you get a great amount of food for the price. The guac on the other hand, is in a 3 ¼oz cup. They don’t fill it to the top meaning you only get about 3oz of guac for an outrageous price. Chipotle charges 2 dollars for extra guac, in a 4oz cup 90% of the time filled to the top. The chip quality is also absolutely terrible at wicked taco, I don’t recommend it. Conclusion: Don’t get chips and guac but get everything else because it’s well priced and Tastes amazing.

The place looked great inside. Very much like a Moe’s but with more aluminum and less impressionist art. Wicked Taco was very clean and bright. My taco fillings were served in a puffy pita bread like flower tortilla. I ordered a cheese steak-like taco. It was delicious. I had questions about some of the ingredients. The cashier could not answer the most basic questions and acted like she couldn’t be bothered to try and help. Just blank stares. They offer wifi but no one knew the password. There are no plugs in the place so consider that if you plan to stick around with your laptop. The quality and quantity of the food was not enough for the price. One taco, drink, and cheese for 11 $. There was a nice spread of uncommon salsas and mole sauces. The pico had a very smokey taste. The lady who was cleaning the tables was very friendly and attentive.

Wicked Taco is just meh in my book. I came for a quick lunch as I saw some good reviews on Unilocal and that they have a drive thru. This just made Wicked Taco all the more attractive when you need a quick lunch but don’t want typical fast food. And I think that’s the best way to describe it, it’s an alternative to fast food but not a place I’d go for a sit-down meal. So my experience is based solely on their drive thru which was slow… very slow. I think it took a total of 20 minutes from the time we ordered, waited to drive up to the window to pay and get our food. And now that I think about it, we waited a solid 8 minutes for our food to be ready after we already paid. Maybe I’m spoiled with fast food but usually drive thru means you’re suppose to get your food faster, right? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d rather my food be fully cooked and correct but I’m hoping this is just some kinks they’re still working out and not the normal experience. Additionally, I was really not pleased with their staff who I could clearly see through the window ignoring me when I first pulled up to the window and didn’t come talk to me or ask for payment till a few minutes later after they finished putting stickers on their to-go boxes. It just really surprised me they’d put such small tasks above customer service. What saved Wicked Taco in my opinion was their food selection which was decent but the portions were smaller then I expected for the price. I ordered the Freddy Likes It Hot without the pineapple and really loved the flavors but just the one taco really wasn’t enough, I’m glad I got the combo but it all left me wanting more. The guacamole really wasn’t flavorful, it wasn’t really guacamole in my opinion and merely resembled mashed avocados – no flavor sadly :(My friends ordered other signature tacos and also thought the flavors were good but wanted more substance or bang for their buck(aka more food). Overall, if I’m in the mood for tacos and in the area, sure I’ll swing by if I’m pressed for time; otherwise, I don’t see myself coming back here. Wish I had a better experience but it just did not WOW me or stand out in any way for that matter.

I am not a fan of Wicked Taco and was disappointed with my meal and experience. The Boss Hog was way too sweet and(I can’t believe I am saying this) had way too much cheese. The Fish Called Wanda and Psycho Billy Cadillac were okay but bland despite all the flavorful ingredients in them. I had no idea that the Chipotle Cream Corn was a dipping side, even after asking the employee taking my order about it. It comes with tortilla chips(which normally cost $ .75), I happen to have paid $ 2.27 for those chips since that Chipotle Cream Corn belongs on the free salsa bar. The salsa bar was not impressive even though they offer some unique choices such as marinated carrots or cranberry chipotle. I could not find one I liked. I did not even appreciate the basic pico salsa. It seems like they try nothing to be like authentic Mexican food and that may be where they loose my favor. I am glad to see that others can find something about it that gives them decent reviews and keeps them coming back but I do not see myself returning.

Evidently this is a chain. I am undeterred. Being a little more… advanced in years than I realized I was… I was surprised to see that this is a place where all the college kids hang out late at night. *tear* made me feel young again. This is the perfect casual, quirky taco spot in Raleigh. The flavor combinations of their dozen-or-so tacos are spot-on! I’m a person who likes to taste everything, so I particularly appreciated that there are some meal combos that include tacos AND queso with chips and a drink. They also have a perfect little salsa bar to dress up your delicious tacos however you so choose. Well-played, Wicked Taco. I’ll be back soon, and you, fellow Unilocaler, should add this to your list as well.

Authentic? No. Tasty? Yes! While Wicked Taco doesn’t have the most authentic tacos, they are surely delicious! First of all, the sizes of the tacos are unreal. It is more like the amount of filling you would get in a burrito rather than on a taco, so I only needed one to fill me up. I ordered the #6 «Freddy Likes it Hot,» which is carnitas with habanero sauce, grilled pineapple, guacamole, pico de gallo & jack cheese on a flour tortilla. I’m a sucker for grilled pineapple, so I immediately knew this is what I was going to order. The taco was very good but it was not as spicy as the description made it seem it was going to be with the habanero sauce. I also got free chips and queso by using the Stealz app. The queso was thicker than I’ve had at most other places and it wasn’t anything special. My recommendation is don’t bother with the queso(unless it is free), because there are so many excellent salsa choices on their FREE salsa bar. I loved the mango habanero and the peach salsas the best. The salsa bar also includes sour cream, and their wicked sauce and seasoning. We used some of the wicked seasoning on our chips and I liked that it added another dimension of flavor. As for the atmosphere, it was a bit loud with the air conditioning blowing really hard to compensate for a huge area they have open to outside. But since the restaurant is fairly new, it was clean and well kept. Wicked Taco also has a drive thru for convenience but I recommend ordering inside so that you can make use of the salsa bar. This is a great addition to Western blvd for NC State and Meredith students! If you expect that you will visit here regularly, then definitely make sure that you download the Stealz app and you can save up for some free items!

Three breakfast tacos, three drinks, and chips and queso for under $ 20 and we were full the rest of the day. Nice and different fast casual place. The breakfast tacos were good and large for a taco. The salsa table has a huge number of unusual(e.g., pineapple, cranberry, etc.) and fresh-tasting salsas. They also have a very large selection of hot sauces.

Wicked Taco is very wicked cool and very good as well. I was a little skeptical at first paying $ 4.50-$ 5 for a taco, but the tacos are massive here. I was pretty full with one taco, chips, guac, and a drink. The combo is $ 8-$ 10 depending on what side you get, mine was $ 10 since I got guac. The guacamole was okay, wasn’t as green and fresh looking as I would’ve liked, but the addition of corn in it definitely gives it some crunch. Next time, I would not even get a side and save myself $ 2-$ 3 because they have so many great options at the salsa bar. The habenero mango salsa and pineapple salsa were so refreshing and delightful to eat. The mexicana salsa is definitely on the spicier side, and salsa verde is very traditional tasting. The surprise to me was the cranberry sauce. It wasn’t sweet like Thanksgiving cranberries, but it had a very unique«wicked» spice blend in it. The«wicked» seasoning is also at the salsa bar, and I have no idea what’s in this black mixture of spices, but it really adds flavor to your chips. Despite all the great salsas and hot sauces they have, the star of the meal was still the taco. I had the #5 The Good, The Bad, and The Wicked. The taco had steak, potatoes, carmelized onions, bell peppers, pico and queso. There steak was tender, thick, and juicy. There were very decent size chunks in the taco, a very good portion size. All the vegetables were cooked/sauteed perfectly and the potatoes were more like home fries. The queso was really tasty and had a good spice to it with all the seasonings/peppers in it. Overall, the taco was really good and huge. The only downside is that there is a lot of juice/sauce that runs out of the taco and can make it soggy if you let it sit in its juices too long. I enjoyed my meal at Wicked Taco and will definitely be back to try some of their other tacos. The concept of the restaurant is really cool, and they have a fantastic sauce and salsa bar. Although it is a little pricey in my opinion, it’s definitely worth trying and you do get a good amount of food including.

Very excited to see Wicked Taco come to Raleigh! We stopped in on a Friday night around 8 pm and the place was steady busy. The menu offers 13 tacos to chose from, salads, appetizers, and make your own taco. Being our first time, we didn’t know how large the tacos were so we ordered(4) to split along with roasted hatch queso fundido dip. ‘The good, the bad, and the wicked’ and the ’ gobby’s goat’ tacos were our favorite… we highly recommend them! This was WAY too much food for the two of us. I recommend one taco and the queso for two people. I was in a hurry and completely missed the salads on the back not he menu. I will definitely be back to try these soon. The place was clean, staff was attentive, and food was fresh.

Wicked –GOOD! But, if you are looking for that authentic-taco-truck –Mexican-fare, this isn’t the place. Wicked Tacos is an Americanized taco joint and it is really good at what it does. We arrived at just before noon and it was busy, but the line to order moved quickly. Here you order at a window, are given a table number, grab a table and staff brings you your food. By 12:30 p.m. the line was out the door, but, it moved fast and the tables seemed to turn quickly so everyone had a place to sit. The staff here is super friendly and helpful. They wiped down tables as soon as people left, made themselves available to answer questions about the menu and encouraged us to join a loyalty program from free eats. Now the food. I love fish tacos. LOVE is an understatement, but I get tired of there being only one option on menus and it is blackened and often tough. Wicked Taco has four fish tacos(two styles of shrimp, two different white fishes). This thrills me to no end. I went with the ‘Dog Named Shrimp’ and it didn’t disappoint. Good size shrimp(not popcorn) were breaded in a crushed tostada and served in a fresh tortilla with a Yuma tartar sauce, a slaw, fresh pico de gallo and jack cheeses that had just been shredded from the block. We also ordered the ‘Wolfie’- a fresh tortilla topped with rotisserie chicken, red bliss potato, slaw and a Hatch queso. Holy comfort food! Also, you have the option of getting your taco in a bowl with the tortilla on the side –genius! The tacos were $ 4.50 each. Instead of small tacos typical of more authentic Mexican eateries, you get one large taco. Make it a combo and you get a drink and a bowl of warm tortilla chips with guacamole for $ 8.97 or Hatch queso for $ 8.50. The taco combo is a meal– we left stuffed. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Details: Wicked Taco’s drive thru is now open and they also do call ahead and online ordering. They open at 6 a.m. for the full menu, which includes six breakfast tacos that are served all day and stay open late on the weekends. Wicked Taco serves beer– domestic and imported, margaritas and a Mezcal shot. Given its location near State, it’s something-for-everyone menu, and low price point, I think Wicked Taco is going to do very well.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is NOT the restaurant for you. We found this place on the way to cookout and decided to try out a new restaurant instead. It was packed people and we had high hopes going in. Since we already had dinner and only wanted a post dinner snack, my boyfriend and I ended up splitting combo 4: two tacos, a drink, and chips. For the tacos, we ordered the wicked one and Freddie likes it hot. The meal was very affordable as it was only $ 9.97! The combo was more than enough to feed two people for a meal. The tacos came in large flour tortillas and was stuffed with toppings. Although the portion size was great, the taste of the tacos was not. The flour tortilla was very thick and doughy. The excessive amount of liquid from the toppings made the tortilla soggy as well. The combination of ingredients tasted funny and did not go well together. I think the restaurant should consider keeping the number of ingredients to a minimal to focus on simple flavor combinations. There was also a salsa bar. We tried the following salsas: Salsa de pina — my favorite! Good balance of sweet from the pineapple and spiciness from the jalapeño Peach salsa — the cumin flavor was too strong Mango habenero — the spiciness was too overwhelming and need more mango flavor Salsa Verde and Pico de Gallo — tasted ok but nothing special Overall, it was cheap and fast, which makes this restaurant a good option for college students on a budget. I would definitely come back for the chips and pineapple salsa but nothing else.

For now Wicked Taco is just that A-OK but I see some potential here. The location is very convenient right behind the Cook Out on Western Blvd. I was excited to have a new fast casual restaurant close by that was offering some exciting and somewhat healthier eats. The Positive: –They serve breakfast tacos all day long — They are veggie friendly –Great staff –Under $ 10 will get you a combo meal with chips and either queso or guac –Very clean and tasty salsa bar — I believe they will have a drive through soon –The tacos are gigantic — They serve sour cream at the salsa bar no xtra charge So overall not bad. Unfortunately my taco came out cold I ordered the Endless Summer which sounded amazing, a stuffed poblano pepper with corn, onion, mushroom, pepper, mozzarella, beans, and micro greens and habanero sauce on top. All those ingredients had my mouth watering, but it just wasn’t all that tasty. It was pretty bland and since the inside was cold I decided to send it back. The staff was really great about it and brought me out another taco in no time. I think I would try something else on my next visit though. My friend had the naked chicken taco and said it was really good. I did enjoy the chips and queso. Good first start Wicked Taco I’m looking forward to an updated review soon, with some tasty eats.

Arrived for lunch at 12:15pm today — that was a mistake! The line was out the door. They moved us through pretty quickly, and I was able to snag a table while my husband stood in line. The venue looks great, fresh and updated — you would never know it used to be a KFC! More parking than they’ll ever need. Really large menu selection, I had a hard time choosing my tacos until I realized a lot of them are similar with a few ingredients changed. I went with the Boss Hog and the Gibby’s Goat(carnitas and shrimp). These tacos are huge. I did not finish both and I was super hungry. They were both really good — I enjoyed the carnitas more. The plantains on the Boss Hog were so good! I also ordered the chips and guacamole, which I should not have. It was good, kind of basic guac with sweet corn in a small container but I had absolutely no room for it. There is a really interesting salsa bar set up — lots of fresh fruit salsas. The pineapple was my favorite — everything was really fresh and I felt like they had just made them up this morning. There’s also a large selection of hot sauces. My only food gripe was that nothing was spicy, even the salsa with habeneros, but I just put some hot sauce on everything and it was fine. You order at the counter and take a number to your table, then the server brings your food when it’s ready. Our food delivery person was actually really nice and introduced herself and said to just let her know if we needed anything. Will definitely be calling ahead a to-go order for lunch in the near future! There are so many menu items left to try, including drinks and sides!

On Taco Tuesday I came across a brand new Taco place. Wicked Tacos is its name. Located on Western Blvd near Cook Out(to be very honest, I had full intention on stopping in Cook Out and get my dirty burger on, but I mean… it’s Taco Tuesday!) Wicked Taco may look like a chain taco restaurant, but it’s actually pretty small business trying to expand into Triangle. Their original location is in Blacksburg, another college town. Not to mention, they are so close to the campuses, and within short distances of some local water holes; with normal operation hours(after this opening week) opening at 6AM and close at midnight, they will help stoping your midnight munchies and cure your morning hangover. I’ve ordered five tacos last night, and let me tell ya, them are BIG tacos, at reasonable prices! -«El Buli»(marinated steak) is like a sizzling fajita in a flour tortilla shell -«Gibby’s Goat» has no goat meat… but some killer grilled shrimps with slaw and pico -«Fish Called Wanda» is a fish taco that even John Cleese will approve -«Juan in a Million» is do wicked… rotisserie chicken and fried egg, with bacon! I want to order a million of these! -«Wicked Deluxe» is an awesome breakfast burrito that can cure ANY hangover –There are some vegetarian options, and you can make your own«Naked Tacos» to get exactly what you need, says, if you go vegan; you can even go gluten free and just put Naked Tacos filling in salad bowl and ditch the flour tortillas! What also attract me is their business model, their focus on sourcing local and fresh ingredients, and you can definitely taste it in the final product. After-mention: ***The Drive-Thru is yet in working order, but starting next week they are opening Online Ordering system. Now there is a brand new choice for FOURTHMEAL, watch out Taco Bell!
