It’s a taco truck! For those of you that didn’t grow up with taco trucks… this is it… only more expensive. I encountered this truck while browsing the farmer’s market in Durham over the weekend. Their chorizo and salsa verde are quite nice and what I’ve come to expect from a traditional Mexican fare. It’s not the best taco truck… but it certainly isn’t the worst… in fact it’s good. I do think they need to pay homage to the traditional neighborhood trucks and offer some cheap specials. Two for Two Tuesdays? If you happen by the Taco Grande food truck, give em a try. I would again.

Was parked behind Surf Club the other night and decided to give it a try. The tacos were great! A really great value. The cheese dip was the perfect amount to share with my spouse and we really loved it. Everything was hot, fresh, and super fast considering they were really busy. They didn’t even screw up our super picky friend’s food. Give them a try!

Food trucks have to be one of the best inventions ever. It was simply chance, finding the Taco Grande truck. The menu was larger than I expected, with tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and nachos, but by the time I came across this food truck, they were out of most everything except the vegetarian and pork belly in nearly all of those categories. Ordering is quick; pick up is not so quick. To me, that means the cook either is slammed with orders, or is inexperienced, or the food is being prepared fresh. It was busy at the truck, so the first was true; I can’t say about the second; and based on the taste, the third is likely true. I ordered a vegetarian and a regular taco. I was prepared to be unable to discern the difference between them, but was surprised. The regular taco, and it must have been a mistake, had large chunks of meat, which made me think it was probably the steak taco instead of the regular. The vegetarian taco had large bite-size veggies — carrots and broccoli and onions. The order came with chips. The person in line in front of me for pick up, with a sarcastic tone asked, «Is this all the chips it comes with?» I understood when I got my order. There were enough chips for decoration, but not for substance. I didn’t mind, actually, since I wasn’t going to eat them. The tacos, soft shell, were small and seemed pricey for what I got, until I took a mental step back and decided it wasn’t far out of line for something that looked like real food, not processed grade D-something, had a lot of flavor and seemed freshly made. Would I follow this food truck around the area to keep trying it? No. But if I see it when I’m out somewhere and looking for a lunch place; yes with the caveat that it won’t be when I’m in a hurry, because they aren’t quick.

It’s fine. Nothing special. I found the steak and«pork Belly» kinda bland. I don’t think I actually got pork belly. The texture was off. What I think I got was carne desmechada and that was tasty. I am not digging paying higher prices for what you get for food trucks. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it,

Fresh and delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed today’s special: two tilapia tacos with fresh tortilla chips and a side of chunky, zesty guacamole. The tacos and guacamole were extremely fresh, well-seasoned/flavorful, and satisfying. I look forward to visiting the Taco Grande truck again.

This truck comes to my work once a month & I always count down until they are here again. They have good tacos, amazing nachos, & even better burritos. They had a special one day for 1 shrimp taco, 1 tilapia taco, & chips. They were delicious tacos, but I wish they had more fish. I felt like the portions were not that great. They have a huge variety! I can’t remember all the items, but I know they have different types of: –Tacos –Quesadillas –Burritos –Sopes –Nachos Most things cost between $ 2.50 — $ 10.00. I recommend this truck to anyone.

I believe Taco Grande has been hitting spots all over the Triangle for a while now, but the first time I encountered them was at Taco Tuesdays at The Crescent. They specialize in authentic Mexican fare, ranging from Tacos(asada, pollo, pastor, chorizo…) to tostados to sopas. I ended up getting an order of Chicken nachos costing me $ 7. Not bad at all. The chips were very crispy and you can tell they were hand fried. My coworkers got a burrito and a tostado. Everyone said it tasted good, but nothing that really POPPED out. We’d definitely go there again for some good ol’ fashioned Mexican food though. Prices were decent – tacos are $ 2.50($ 3.50 if you choose seafood), tostados are $ 3.50, burritos are $ 4. They do take credit card and their line moves very fast.
