Don’t go to this place on New Year’s Eve. The sign on the door says closing at 7:30 and my family walked in at 6:30 the cook look bothered at the thought we were gonna stay there and eat. The food was better than I expected it to be and the waitress did a nice job and made our orange aide drinks really good. Then 7:00 rolls around and a whole family walks in and is turned away because the cook says the kitchen is closed? What? The sign should have said closing at 5:00 if you wanted to leave so early or quit. I’m sure Logan and Bethany the owners would have been more than thrilled. P. S. Clean the menus!

If you’re in the mood for a classic shake burger and fries. this is your spot. Thick juice burgers with all sorts of topings I ordered the double cheese burger and I wasn’t disappointed. Good flavor. not too much if the topings and just enough grease to remind me it was the real deal. Fast service, nice wait staff… very efficient. The reason I didn’t give them 5 stars was the counter when I sat down wasn’t wiped off. Not just my spot but the entire counter. It wasn’t super busy. just whom ever was supposed to do it. was slippen. Take a rag. wipe it down when someone leaves. Other than that small detail I’ll be coming back

Service is slow by a staff who spends more time near the grill than asking if you need a refill, etc. Food is alright but you can do better elsewhere, especially for the price. WON’T GOBACK.

UPDATEDREVIEW: I am so happy to give a much better review this time as Hwy 55 is one of my favorite places to eat. My daughter and I had lunch yesterday and the experience was a 360 from our last visit. It is proof positive that staff can make all the difference in a customers experience. I was glad to see this particular group of staff which included Amanda(our favorite waitress), the 2 owners/franchisee’s, the stocky white guy behind the grill and the other young black female(who is also one of our favorite waitresses)…I have got to get their names next time I visit! I knew when I saw this group of employees that we would have a better experience than last visit. The employees greeted us when we came through the door. The food was awesome, as usual, hot, fresh and came out quickly. Our drinks stayed full and we were checked on frequently. Of course we had the custard… our favorite part of the meal! And it was made perfectly the first time. I would have to say it was the best we have had there to date. My daughter got the cookie dough concrete which had an abundance of soft chunks of cookie dough mixed in with the creamy custard. I had cookies and cream concrete with the perfect balance of cookie to custard ratio. Both concretes were nice and thick, just like they are supposed to be… delicious! If you like Goodberry’s custard, you will LOVE this custard, I promise! And it was a really nice touch that when we checked out we were recognized as frequent customers. Very nice they noticed! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to cleanliness. The general appearance of the restaurant was much improved over the last visit but could use a deep clean as there is a lot of build up on the floors. Employees were neat and clean, dressed appropriately and used appropriate, safe food handling techniques. Service = on point ! Cleanliness = needs improvement Food = tasty, hot & fresh Price = great value Custard = awesomely perfect !

I’ve actually reviewed this before, but I guess Unilocal didn’t like it. Here is the long and short: the whole place is run by kids and, as you can imagine, the service suffers. I didn’t see a manager on site. If this were the anytime before the year 2000, that would be a common occurrence, but kids don’t really run places anymore and, perhaps, that’s not such a bad thing when it comes to food service.

This place seriously needs a manager in duty. Kids running a restaurant not a smart move waited 20 mins for kids grill cheese Togo and didn’t even bother eating here from looks of this chaos wouldn’t touch it

I see that Andy’s is now Hwy 55 Shakes and Burgers due to some franchising issue. I also notice that the place has been cleaned up and the menu expanded. The wait staff is still friendly and on the ball. I can tell a slight difference in the quality of the burgers; perhaps a better grade of beef. All in all still a great place to get an excellent burger!

Food good. I have had better at this location. Service was terrible. The table across from us wasn’t acknowledged for over twenty minutes.

We eat here quite a lot… so much so that I’m afraid to actually give a number. Hands-down…we LOVE their burgers. Let me repeat… we LOVE their cheeseburgers! And their fries… done to perfection. I prefer Andy’s over 5-Guys and Chargrill. And their shakes are addicting! Thick, creamy, homemade vanilla custard-like flavor. I only consume these once or twice per year. I haven’t been here when it’s dirty but to be honest, we mostly order out and sit outside on the bench on nice days or take it home. The service has always been good to me at this particular location. I have tried the one on Capital Blvd in Wake Forest and the one over off of Falls of Neuse and I hated their service so I will only patronize the one in Falls River. Once, their milkshake machine broke in the middle of my order and they gave me complimentary drinks for my entire order. On most occasions as soon as I walk in the door, they know my order and start making it before I reach the register. On another occasion, I came in at 9:05PM(5 minutes after closing) and they fired up the grill just for my order. My only gripe is that they recently changed names from Andy’s to Highway 55 and their prices changed. Under Andy’s, a cheeseburger meal was about $ 6 which included a cheeseburger, fries and drink. Under Highway 55, they changed it so that the same food is now $ 8. I am not a fan of that price change but the last time I went in I was told that they were aware that their customers were unhappy and had plans to change it back.

Great burgers and excellent service. Hannah was a pleasure when taking my order. I went at lunch when the place was pretty busy and she had lots of tables but was waiting on all of them with a smile.

Stopped here because we saw the advertised lunch special in the window: «2 hot dogs, fries and a drink for $ 4.99.» Got the special, it was a good deal for the price but nothing extraordinary. Great service though. FYI the hot dogs are bright red. Must be a regional thing, because we moved here 5 months ago from California and we’ve never seen bright red hot dogs before. We asked the server, she said they are appropriately called«redskin dogs». This would be a good place to take your kids, with the 50’s diner atmosphere and fun kids meals that come in a hot rod car box. We’ll probably be back, eventually. Nothing bad to say about this place… it’s just not one of those«I can’t wait to come back!» kind of places.

Went for an early dinner with my kids since tonight is «Kids Night» with a half off special. We arrived, the place was empty, the girl behind the counter says«sit anywhere you want». The Bad: The first two tables we plopped down at were covered in debris from previous eaters. The staff came over and wiped it down for us while we held our arms in the air like we were on a really slow rollercoaster. The floors were also sticky and dirty(eg. dirty footprints and spilt drink remains). Health Grade 94. The seating layout is WIDE-OPEN with no privacy. The Good: The place does have a cool diner-esque feel to it with fun music. Service was fast, friendly and accurate. 1 star. The burger was good, no complaints there. Another star. The UgIy: «Kids Night, Half Off» Discount wasn’t applied to the kid’s meals on our bill. I was informed the discount doesn’t begin until 5pm… it was 4:52p. I asked if I should go wait at my booth another 8 minutes for the discount and was informed you must come in after 5pm. If it’s bringing families in the door, why stiff early birds? For what it’s worth, their basic burger is $ 4.50 plus tax. No bacon, no fries, no drink. A cookout tray is $ 0.50 more for an equal burger plus drink and 2 sides. With a bad taste in my mouth over the Kid’s Night restrictions and lack of cleanliness, I’m going to stick to Cookout or Chargrill when I want to grab a quick burger with the kids.

Andy’s used to have really good cheesesteaks, but things have gone far downhill. The least of the problems, though annoying, is that they’ve forgotten how to mix the cheese in with the beef while cooking. The big problem is that, now, neither the beef nor the cheese tastes like anything. Oh well.

I must be coming here at different times, between 4:30 and 6:00, from most of the other reviewers because I get attention and friendly service. I heard they changed management about a month ago The pimento cheeseburger is very good.

I agree with all the other reviews. The first time I went the wait staff could care less if you are there or not. So I decided to give them another try. Still the same terrible service and the food was cold.

Dirty, dirty restaurant. Food tastes terrible. They never have those damn car plates for the kids. You will be much better off at any McDonalds.

I hadn’t been to Andy’s in a couple years, but nothing’s really changed. My family went today because my 4-year-old wanted to get the kid’s meal that«comes in the car». Turns out they don’t do that anymore. That by itself wouldn’t be a deal breaker. My gripes with Andy’s are as follows: 1. The wait staff does not come to your table in the order that you come into the restaurant. When you walk in, the staff is obligated to say, «Hello, welcome to Andy’s», and they couldn’t be less enthusiastic about that corporate policy. You get to seat yourself, but we found that people who came in after us had their drinks and orders taken before the wait staff even came to our table. 2. Your food is not going to get to your table in the same order that the wait staff took your order. So even if you get your order in first, you might be last to get your food. 3. The place is near filthy. There’s sticky stuff on the menus and tables. The floor looks like it hasn’t had a proper mopping in weeks. There’s bits of food on the walls. This might be okay at the end of a business day, but we got there shortly after they opened at noon. The Sanitation Score was 93, if that matters. We couldn’t finish our food fast enough. The food is middle of the road. Not the worst burgers or cheesesteaks. Unfortunately, the problems with the atmosphere and service far outweigh the average food.
