Food was good, service was good. Clean and waitress was very attentive and prompt. Variety of food was great. Will be back!

Nasty bathrooms, papers all over the ground near the entrance, food was flavorless and semi cold. Girl at the front register needed to be removed from the front until her attitude improved. I will not return the this place.

Too much over-fried breading on chicken and fish. The heavy breading ruins perfectly good chicken and fish dishes. I like their assortment of veggies and meats, but lately it seems that everything is not too fresh. My wife and I are long-time customers of GC, and there is none to compare it to in Raleigh.

Golden Corral has once again changed up the food presentation. The former groupings by ethnic food choices has been replaced by new food stations. The SmokeHouse has Eastern NC style barbecue, down east mac n cheese, and smoked meats that will be carved for you. There is also a custom preparation area where they will make in front of you your choice of about 5 items(omelets, pasta, etc). Next to the salad bar they will now create a salad for you with choices such as cobb salad, and have a panini sandwich grill with 4 custom made sandwich options. For a limited time they are making several breakfast items available on the bar at both lunch and dinner. I did have a grilled panini sandwich with ham, cheese, and honey mustard. Liked the flavor of the sandwich, but the wait time for the item to be prepared seems to be out of place in a restaurant where customers are used to «no waiting — serve yourself» buffet. To add in these newer items I did notice several things were missing, such as carved ham, corn bread pudding, and the asain foods are pretty much gone. pasta options have been changed to 3 different types of mac n cheese.

I bring my son son’s here all the time. …if I’m going to spend $ 20.00 on a meal I might as well bring them to a place where they can eat how much they want to and get full…

This was my first visit to the Raleigh Capital Blvd location as I generally end up in Wake Forest. In comparison to the WF location I was immediately surprised by the size. Raleigh must be at least 4 times larger and clearly many more serving stations. The Pros: Everyone seemed jovial and upbeat, quite a chore for a buffet. Surprised by the selection of sides, fruits and vegetables. Mongolian Grill made to order and delivered to your table Large selection of desserts, pies, cakes, cookies, puddings, you name it. Melt in your mouth Pot Roast, crispy Fried Chicken and Fish, Real Steak Fries Clean, open and airy The Cons They get carried away with the breading on some fried items Tea is very weak Heat lamps don’t keep food up to temp IMHO Golden Corral gets a bad rap. For a reasonably priced buffet I don’t think it can be beat. If you haven’t tried it give the Capital Blvd location a shot. You might be surprised.

Golden Corral for Thanksgiving dinner. I have done this 7 out of 9 years I have been in Raleigh. Yes, that sounds as pathetic to me as it probably does to the reader. More than a few times I was tempted to drown myself in gravy. Especially this year when they sit me below a poster that features a couple and a caption that describes carrot cake as best shared with a significant other. Sigh. FML. My book doesn’t quite qualify as significant other. Ok this location is not entirely bad as some other locations. Relatively new since I haven’t been to this one before. Didn’t visit the restroom so I can’t review it. Seems mostly clean but the drink stations were atrocious. It is probably due to the frantic nature of Thanksgiving crowds and not a day-to-day occurrence. The food. Here we go. It is a great feeling to get something approaching a home-cooked meal when alone on the holidays. But then some things are great and others are not. The ham was outstanding. Truly and utterly outstanding. I had two helpings of ham and each bite was as good as the next. The mashed potatoes were pretty good and the gravy as usual was delicious. The turkey from the food service area closest to me was about as good as you can get unless Grandma cooked it. The other end service area was extremely dry for whatever reason. The corn could have doubled as shotgun pellets. I am still surprised that I didn’t crack a tooth on the first forkfull. The rolls… please don’t get in the way when I go to get the last one on the sheet. I WILL run you down for it. Cranberry… good. Brownie… good. Red velvet cake… good. Pie selection… not so good. I didn’t even go for a piece it looked that bad. I didn’t even try the stuffing as the pans for it were located in such a spot that everyone’s faces and arms were over the pans. No shields or anything to block… well anything. So I stuck with the basics and ended up leaving satisfied. I tipped the lady who topped up my sweet tea $ 5. I don’t normally carry cash so it was the least I was able to do. Overall… not a horribly bad Thanksgiving experience but it would have been awesome to not be the only one in the entire place sitting alone. Yes, I checked. Happy turkey leg!

I can’t believe how horrible this place has become. For awhile this was a top-notch location and was amazing for a long time after it was opened. But I went earlier this week around 8pm and even though the place was only ¼th filled the place was nasty. Half the buffet items were out, and virtually nothing was replenished in the hour I was there. Even easy things like shrimp cocktail sauce were empty. What was on the buffet had been sitting for a very long time. I will NOT be going back again.

The fanciest building, the worst service, most mediocre Golden Corral buffet I have ever seen. I don’t plan on ever going there again! I am so disappointed. If need be, we will choose the one on Glenwood Avenue instead.

Had an included Contiki buffet dinner here while on the East Coast tour and we all had a fun eating time. A classic image of what you’d expect of an American buffet– it was a huge restaurant– not only seating capacity(neat booths as well as big tables) but food wise– I’m sure they had every type of food physically possible and then some. Had a fun time browsing through the sectioned areas of food groups and serving up classic American favourites as well as non-mainstream, creative dishes. Cool that they also had made-to-order items also– to your preference. Lovely waiter service for drinks and refill which was wonderful. My roommate and I fell in love with the dessert section– with the awesome tiered chocolate fountain and freezer full of different ice cream flavours and plates of an array of baked sweet treats. It was hard because we wanted to save room for dessert but that was our last stop and there was so many other foods to try for main course. Definitely a need to experience at least once– and come hungry or maybe it’s best if you don’t come(You’re going to need a lot of stomach room).

This place has gone down hill. The omlet cook needs to a job he enjoys. The widow blinds where very dirty months of grime. The food was not fresh had been sitting for a while.

Mooooooo. There I said it. I have been officially corralled and(surprisingly!) I rather liked it. . I will not even make up a story as to why we were forced to stoop to this not-yelp-like level. We were frickin’ starving and couldn’t think of what we were in the mood for. It was also 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon. We had missed brunches all over town, and it was too early for 5:00 dinner openings. We figured that the off-hour might actually mean less pandemonium at a place like this. Never having been inside this location, and always seeing lots of cars in the parking lot, we figured it couldn’t be too bad, and at least there would be a variety. Weekend buffet that included steak, prime rib and shrimp was $ 12.99. It’s self-serve your drink(unsweetened tea for us), while you wait in line to pay. $ 32 later we found a booth and hit the food. Now, we expected variety, but it very much exceeded both of our expectations. Favorites for me were the boiled shrimp, fried catfish filet with a wonderfully crunchy cornmeal breading, perfectly-cooked thin asparagus, brussels sprouts, yummy and not-greasy turnip greens, Italian sausage with peppers and onions, fajita steak, sirloin steak(wow! thick, cooked medium with a wonderful grill flavor). We worked our way through seafood, southern, grilled, Asian(not the best station), Italian and Mexican. You could even eat healthy here if you wanted to. Hah… good luck! I started off with that intent. People-watching is certainly interesting. It never ceases to amaze me how high folks will pile things on a plate, when they can go back as many times as they want. Isn’t it hard to eat when it’s piled that high? Obviously, this is not a peaceful, quiet way to eat. It is a feeding trough as expected, but the quality and quantity for the price are surprisingly good. It’s like grazing through a cafeteria, a mall food court, local steak house and calabash seafood place at the same time. Topped off with a trip to the state fair for dessert. Love the mini donuts!!! Service was also very good. Our drinks were kept replenished, plates were cleared quickly, and all with a smile. Certainly not the way we want to eat all the time, but it wouldn’t take a cattle prod to get me to go back next time we are starving and can’t decide what we want.

There comes a time when eating another locally-grown, organic, farm raised meal just won’t do. Sometimes you need to slum-it. This past Sunday was one of those times. It was a perfect storm: I was nursing a righteous hangover, there was no food in the fridge and according to a commercial, Golden Corral had an all you can eat prime-rib & shrimp promotion. I really, really love shrimp. So we bundled our achy little piggy selves into the car and headed over to our local GC. This was my first time ever visiting a Golden Corral and I got the cattle reference immediately upon entering. The place was packed and we herded ourselves through a windy line to pay for our drinks & food and get seated. This was a slow moving line that lasted about 10 minutes. I filled about 3 plates total with way to much food to catalog here but I will give a few honorable mentions to the items that stood out: *Hush puppies(easily some of the best I’ve ever had since moving to NC) *Shrimp(there was just so much of it!) *Prime Rib–(It was surprisingly good, add mashed potatoes and it almost blew my mind) *Cheesy garlic bread(super greasy but you didn’t come here because it was good for you) *Banana pudding(exceptionally good– I would’ve had 2nds but I might have exploded) * Our server Nadia was so sweet! My cup was never empty and she was really on top of clearing our used plates(which we were turning out regularly) . Upon leaving I struggled with a little bit of self loathing. Everything was very processed and overall, was of mediocre quality but there’s something so hedonistically pleasurable about loading lots of naughty food on your plate and just chowing down. And for that, Golden Corral, I thank you!

Omg where do i start with this one. All you can eat for $ 12 and its not those typical Chinese buffets. Me and my cousins came here for dinner labor day weekend and it was packed. As we were walking in i saw people leaving the restaurant full, rubbing their stomachs and looking like they could barely walk. I told my cousin ugh look at them, that’s just greediness and i wont leave like that. First thing i have to say is «don’t judge people until u walked a mile in their shoes. Lol» Well i walked their mile and left that restaurant looking just like or worse than them. SMH! :-) The food options were CRAZY!!! I made sure i put very little of almost everything on my 3 different plates and can honestly say i didn’t dislike anything. The food was nicely seasoned and delicious. I won’t bother naming the foods because they had pretty much a lil of everything. For dessert, yes i had played myself to some cookies, chocolate cake, cotton candy and frozen yogurt. I looked for some GC restaurants in NY but they are all further upstate. :-(. Ughhh i know I am pathetic but I cant wait to do it all over again. :-))))

Let me start off by saying that I have mixed feelings about Golden Corral, and I only came here as a coworkers last lunch request before leaving the country. That said, I decided to give this particular location 3 stars. For me personally, this type of restaurant would get 1 star, because I just have no interest in coming here. I do realize that many people would love this type of place though, and feel that this particular location is much nicer than you would find elsewhere. The buffet is absolutely huge, with cuisine ranging from North Carolina style bbq, to American style Chinese food, a large salad bar, and an enormous dessert bar. I won’t bother trying to remember all of the types of food available, but the food I tried was pretty much hit or miss. The brussel sprouts were very overcooked and I couldn’t even eat the two that I took, while the fried foods tasted pretty much how you would expect. The sweet potato casseroles were very sweet, but not too bad. The dessert bar is one of the big draws here, with soft serve ice cream, a chocolate fountain, and a cotton candy machine. Since I haven’t had cotton candy in probably 15 years, I felt that I owed it to myself to get some. Bad idea; the cotton candy dripped little pink specs of sugar all over my shorts! The chocolate fountain was also disappointing because the chocolate was cold and tasted both gritty and flavorless. Generally speaking, this style of eating and the food they serve is so unhealthy that I would never recommend it to anyone, but if you’re a connoisseur of cafeteria food, this is the place to go.

They advertise on television in Hawaii, but alias, they don’t have em in Hawaii. So, I came all the way out to Raleigh, NC to try. No, not really, I was driving past this neighborhood, and I saw this Golden Corral location. I knew it was a chain out here, so I decided to try it. The location was perfect, as I was in the neighborhood to begin with. I made a U-turn and luckily there was parking. It was attached to a strip mall, so there was plenty of parking. There was a crowd waiting, but my friend and I waited and we got in eventually. The buffet itself was average. Plenty of food, but it was of average quality. I expect it to be a bit better than they have advertised, but for the economical pricing, that brings the quality of food down a bit. The self service was good too, but can be improved. I did like the separate cuisine stations though.

Golden Corral(GC) certainly lives up to its name because it’s sorta hard not to feel like a cow when visiting the place! GC is one of those nationwide buffet chains that dishes up basic American food at a decent price and LOTS of it… My friend JimD had a craving on Sunday morning and well, I wasn’t going to argue since it’s only breakfast. We get to the parking lot and it is JAMMED! I guess people be hungry this early on Sunday… Inside we got in line, grabbed a self-serve soft drink and then paid at the cash register. Waited a bit for the dining room coordinator to find us a table(dude with the headset) and then it was off to our table! The place is B-U-S-Y with a lot of families and kids running around. At the table I order up some coffee, unloosen my belt buckle a notch and it’s time to eat… The place is big with about eight food stations covering a variety of typical American food. There’s a carving station, Southern, Mexican, Italian, Asian, Seafood, baked goods and dessert stand. There are some cook to order areas(omelettes, pasta) but most everything is self-serve from a steam tray. Golden Corral is bustling so you’ll need to manuever yourself carefully through the crowds. Don’t want to spill your plate o’ food on top of an errant, ADD six year old! Golden Corral is basically fine for what you pay for, decent fried chicken, scrambled eggs, sausage and more. It sorta strikes me as a place that dishes out food like your mom would at home. Except in ginormous amounts! Finish off your meal with some cake, pie, cobbler or the GC piece de resistahnce, the chocolate fountain! But who knows how many greasy, little fingers have been dipped into that chocolate, eh?! Now what can you say but Golden Corral does deliver the goods if you’re looking for down-home basic American food. Out the door with a drink came to about $ 14 on the weekend, not bad. But I gotta say it’s not exactly a relaxing dining experience. Lots of kids running about, playing with their food at the table and a messy dining room, sigh… I sorta feel bad for the staff here. Golden Corral might be better in its off-hours but I’d just as happily go to Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet right up the street, nuff said!
