What a let down. No grass, only dirt and rocks. Tiny, no place to sit down, and hardly any shade. Won’t be going back.

Tiny dog park with nothing but sand/dirt and rocks. Send your dog to play her in this tiny location and leave with your munchkin dirty as ever. Will not return.

I wish I could give this dog park more than 3 stars. This park needs some work. The fences are rusted and breaking. The ground has sharp rocks, I’ve seen dogs get their paws cut from the rocks. The community is great and who ever originally built it is awesome for doing it. I just wish the city looked into the park.

This dog park is a bit shady to say the least. The fences are made out of a variety of materials and is super broken down. If a dog uses a bit of effort it could easily escape to the water. That being said, it is the ONLY dog park in Astoria. The guy who maintains it, Bugsy, does a good job with his limited resources. Also, the dogs who often come to this park are typically well-behaved and friendly.

Really not that bad, and it’s pretty much the only off leash dog park in Astoria, so enjoy!

While I agree with Bill M.‘s comprehensive review of this dog park, I want to add my two cents. The dog run looks like it’s in shambles, but to the dogs, it’s a fun time. The fencing, while far from being in the best of shape, runs consistently around the park and is void of gaps — basically, it does it’s job regardless of the appearance. I check the perimeter regularly just in case anything has changed, but have yet to see a gap or hole that even a small dog could squeeze through. The bathroom is not that far away when needed — just across the street and on the other side of the track. There are no benches in the dog park, and while sometimes I wish there were, I’m usually up and about playing with the dogs anyway. The three star, A-OK review is more from the dogs than me. I’ve been in the park numerous times and the dogs there are always having fun. They don’t care that it looks shabby and unkempt, or that it’s not the hugest dog park they’ve ever seen, they just care about chasing balls, making friends, and doing their business. If it’s OK for them, it’s OK for me. Could this park use a little(ok, a lot) of TLC? Yes, definitely. Does it do the job of being a safe and fun place for dogs and their owners? Yes, despite it’s dismal appearance.

One of the sorriest dog runs I have found so far in NYC. Things it has going for it: — Views of the Hell’s Gate & Tri-Borough bridges — Close on-street parking Things it has against it: — Can get windy — No bathrooms(for owners) nearby, need to go into Astoria Park — Unsafe, inadequate fencing — Has to be the one of the smallest runs I have seen. — Can become a mud pit after heavy rains(ground cover is just dirt) — No real seating for humans — Not kept up like other runs in the city Have been on a dog run/park tour and this is in my opinion the worst Queens dog run/park that I have experienced so far and one of top 5 worst in the city. It really makes no sense that it was even set up here. Astoria Park is across the street, I am sure there are plenty of areas where a real dog run could be constructed. Even if that couldn’t happen at least expand this run(there is room for a little expansion) and upgrade it. Residents and their dogs in this area deserve better than this. Dog runs/parks I have been to so far:
