My dog Rex and I love this park! As a native New Yorker, I crave space to run and play with my dog, but New York is a very space limiting place. This park lets us enjoy all our activities and I love how clean it is. I expected this park to be a dump, they do a great job of maintaining the entire park to be 5⁄5 quality and quantity. I only wish it was closer to my house, but hey jogging is also exercise !

This is a nice dog run, but every dog run will have better days depending on the crowd(owners, dogs). This is something the park has no control over. I frequent dog runs with my small pit bull, and he actually loves other dogs, so hopefully some reviews left don’t send people screaming in terror of him.

Great place but it has become known as pit bull park. My dog was attacked by one just playing and chasing another dog. A Peek-A-Poo pup. Signs warning owners not to bring in aggressive dogs and liability issues associated with them doing so need to be posted and visible.

A pleasant surprise… with a little work it could be a great run Things it has going for it: — Separate large & small dog runs with separate entrances — Adequate seating for dog owners — Plenty of shade during the summer — Good fencing & gates — Don’t normally like wood chips but they had a pretty thick layer of it. Things it has against it: — No bathrooms near run for humans — No poop bags — No water available in either run — Questionable characters in this park This run was a pleasant surprise since I never heard of it before. After speaking to several regulars there seem to be some issues with ignorate owners with pit bulls. Dog runs/parks I have been to so far:

I am giving this dog run 4 stars because of how the community takes care of the park. Everyone who goes there is friendly and each month they have a «Bark In The Park» where everyone is welcomed to help clean up the dog run. Breakfast is usually provided. They even have a dog run for small dogs at the park. This is one of the best parks that I’ve been to based on the people who go there and the altruistic behavior of the dog owners in taking care of the park to better the neighborhood.

We’ve met some nice dogs and owners here, but of course it only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch. As with any dog run, use your judgment to decide if the mix of dogs is beneficial for your pooch. The nice thing about this dog run is that its actually split up into two separate areas. So if you have a dog that doesn’t like to socialize, or if you just want to play a game of fetch with your canine, its nice to have the option of the 2nd smaller fenced-in area. It does get pretty muddy in here, so I would advise against wearing any tuxedos, ball gowns or your fancy designer duds.

God, I miss my dog. I would walk little Mignonne around the vicinity of Marcus Garvey Park every morning, and if I had time, I would take her to the dog run where she’d hop around in ecstasy like a little bunny. It is spacious and clean, there are plenty of trash cans nearby as well as complimentary bags left by park maintenance as well as other dog owners. A good place to meet neighbors as it seems that East Harlem has a large number of dog owners. Four stars only — although the neighborhood is relatively safe and in the process of gentrification, it could be a little scary late at night.
