Went to Siena this past weekend for Father’s Day with my family. The resteraunt is a bit small but very elegant and welcoming. Excellent hostess and waitstaff accompanied by a hard working and well organized kitchen crew. We all enjoyed our meals very much. I ordered the center cut porkchop which was huge! The meat was tender, juicy and flavorful. It was topped with pears and a delicious sweet glaze. It came with green beans and polenta which were both just ok. We also ordered truffle fries and sautéed kale for sides. Both were delicious… I would definitely return.

I was extremely dissapointed in my experience at sienna. First, the waitresses shirt was yellow and had holes in it. Second, the calamari was bland. Third, my boyfriend ordered the cioppino and the lobster was the driest and overcooked lobster I’ve had. fourth the amount of risotto given with the short ribs was about 3 fork fulls. lastly the best part of my meal were the wine and the dessert, which as a restaurant is a fail. I am not impressed For the money I would expect better food, better portions, and cleaner uniform standards.

If I could have given it zero stars I would have. We went to Siena in Smithfield for special celebration and the food and service were awful. We complained to our server who seemed completely overwhelmed. No one ever apologize for poor service or horrible food. We don’t mind enjoying a lingering meal, but waiting for 1.5 hours for the food to arrive was ridiculous. The portion were so small we thought they ran out of food. The bill was just over $ 200, first time, last time!

We’ve been to Siena several times over the last few years, and recently we got to test out their homemade cavatelli and prosciutto on the17th Annual Federal Hill Stroll. Have to say after having the genuine Calabrian version(GF’s Nani makes it from scratch) I was extremely impressed by Sienna’s. It was very different than what I’ve come to know and love, but it was amazing nonetheless! Highly recommend Siena when on the hill!

The penne alla vodka was under-cooked, not freshly made, and not very nice vs. the gnocchi which was perfect. Make sure you sit inside unless you want to watch hoards of people stroll along the sidewalk while you eat, not to mention the the noise from the traffic. The wine list was good and the antipasti/tasting boards were perfect.

Came here with my family for my graduation dinner and I can’t give Siena’s enough praise. From our server, Charlie who was extremely friendly and knowledgable, to the delicious food we had an amazing night. Each dish was DELICIOUS but a couple that stood out were the calamari appetizer, the side of truffle fries, and the lobster risotto that came with the salmon entrée special. If you’re looking for a great comfortable environment with great service and amazing food, Siena’s is your place!

On our way to back to Boston, my family and I decided to stop in Providence and found this restaurant online and decided to check it out. Just like a lot of reviews said, this place is incredible. Our server was really knowledgeable about food and wine options and the food was just as amazing as the atmosphere! Probably a better place for a date than a family outing. The crab cakes are what I would highly recommend and the lemon crème brûlée for dessert. We also had the specials pizza, which turned out to be good as well. It had sausage, broccoli rabe, and a no tomato base. If I’m ever in Providence, I definitely hope to stop by again!

My wife and I went to Siena(Federal Hill location) for Mother’s Day Brunch and had a great experience. I called ahead a few days early to make a reservation, and they were able to accommodate us with a booth seeing we had an infant with us. We had a clams casino special as an appetizer, my wife had the swordfish, I had a filet and we were very happy with everything. Also, they kept bringing out baskets of fresh bread for us too. I would have been satisfied with just the Focaccia bread! I wasn’t a huge fan of the green beans as a side, but the garlic mashed potatoes were awesome. We had come here about 3 – 4 years ago and remembered having a desert that was to die for, but just couldn’t remember what it was. After speaking with the waitress this time around, she immediately knew we were referring to the«Scripelle Con Gelato.» They are basically mini doughboys with cinnamon sugar. The doughboys also come with vanilla gelato and Nutella — AMAZING. The waitress said the Scripelle is one of their famous deserts and they actually have people come in just for this sometimes. All staff members were very pleasant and obviously everyone loves a little well behaved baby. The manager checked in with us upon arrival and also when we left to make sure we were satisfied with everything. He was very personable as well as all other employees we interacted with. We will without a doubt be going back for more of the Scripelle!

Myself and 3 gals were in this past Friday evening and it was my first time. The gals said I would love it. They were right. I am from CA and was in town for the Pure Haven Essentials conference and was excited to try the restaurant since it has such rave reviews. Charlie was our waiter. He listed the extensive specials and descriptions from memory. So impressive. He answered all our food questions with a smile. He was friendly and attentive and wonderful to us. He had the knowledge and confidence of someone who had been there for years. Turns out he has only been there 2 weeks. Kudos to the hiring manager. Good choice. He took excellent care of us. Cocktails were wonderful and the chicken picata was divine. The other gals loved their choices as well. I will be back when I am in town next year. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.

Got here on Easter Sunday at 5 before 4 for a 4 pm reservation — pretty crowded and hectic without a real waiting area — not the worst, but a little snug trying to keep out of the way of the servers. Good news was that we only had to wait 20 minutes on a very busy Sunday. To start, the gang got the Frienze prosciutto and cheese plate that got devoured quite quickly. The little one ordered her favorite, Littleneck clams, which come in a white wine soup broth. She finished off the clams and let Dad and her big sister eat the piece of crusty Italian bread soaking in the broth that was very tasty. For the main course, two of the gang got the gnocchi, which although it had a lot of cheese was still pretty light to each — but each eater did take some home. For the other dishes, the little one got the Margarita pizza that came from a wood fired oven and was scrumptious. My oldest got the cioppino that was all that and then some good. My wife got the fish — fintastic — I got the veal — vealuptuous. All said, everyone went home sated and satisfied and happy for the meal. Worth going back to try more,

This was a great place for a birthday celebration. It was very crowded but we had a reservation and were seated right away. The service was very good. My only caveat would be for the waitress not to «rush» the experience. I asked her to hold off serving the food until the apps were done and she did. But you did have the feeling that if nothing was said, it would have been rushed. Food was very very good. Prices seemed about right. I loved the way they figured out the names for the birthdays. Don’t know how. And once we mentioned birthdays they brought the cakes(we never ordered them). I would come back again and again if it were closer. My rating is actually a 4.5. Go there.

My party and I arrived early for an 8:30 reservation which we then waited a half hour for while a booth in in the back of the restaurant was given to a couple that arrived after us. We were then seated at a booth that, along with the booth next to it, should not exist. That area should be waiting benches. Our booth had a lovely view of the door, behind the bar, into the kitchen, and the bathroom. Our«highly rated Italian food» was poorly prepared and arranged. Our server was very nice and professional but she served us awful excuse for Italian food in the worst damn table in Rhode Island. For prices that are quite insulting for the portions. Never returning.

Last night was my first time at Siena. As you walk in, the hostess area is right in front and doesn’t leave much room for a wait. Overall the restaurant was a tight squeeze and could have made for a more intimate dining experience. We sat down and had out water glasses filled and we’re greeted by our server. She was pleasant but lacking in personality and didn’t have any suggestions to offer first timers. The drinks we ordered were delicious. Next, we ordered the Firenze antipasto platter. In my opinion, there is nothing better than a good charcuterie/antipasto plate and this one didn’t hit the mark. It felt like something I could make at home. We ordered entrees, excited about the food to come. When my veal came I was immediately disappointed. I was told it would come with green beans and polenta. The green beans were cooked perfectly but the polenta was a tasteless, mini cube. I had hoped for a fresh, creamy polenta to pair with the veal and to soak up the delicious sauce that came with it. After our dinners, we ordered the lemon crème brûlée. This dessert was amazing. I am giving four stars because the visit left something to be desired. Overall, the food was okay – I have had better Italian elsewhere – and the service was pleasant but impersonal.

I believe this is one of my favorite restaurants on Federal Hill, and that is hard because I love a lot of the restaurants on Federal Hill. The place was packed, as I went on 2÷13÷16, and glad I made reservations. My friend and I were seated in the back, where all the tables were tables of 2. Our waiter was very attentive and was able to tell us the daily specials without having to read his notepad. He was also able to sell us their specialty cocktail drink, and was able to describe some of the menu items. The food was to die for, we ordered the crab cakes, the gnocchi, the steak, and the tiramisu as a dessert, and everything was to die for. We did not have one complaint, and the manager came to check on us, and made sure our evening was terrific. I will most certainly be back in the near future.

My boyfriend and I very rarely plan a night out, and this was the perfect place to go. The food was amazing, service was great, we didn’t have to wait long for our food, or to get the check,(which is huge when you are paying a babysitter). Reasonably priced for the portions and quality of the food. We will be back!

We LOVE this restaurant! Every dish we have tried has been just fantastic. They have a great wine list, and the dessert menu is particularly exceptional.(Try the Tiramisu, it’s to die for!!) The service is always friendly, and the ambiance is very nice. Make sure to make a reservation.(They’re on OpenTable, too!)

Charming ambiance in the Federal Hill neighborhood. The plate of penne alla vodka was large — I was sure I’d only finish half, but the slightly creamy sauce and quality penne was all gone before I left. Husband’s ravioli with squash(sweet potato?) was delicious as well(more moderate portioned). Both opted for tiramisu for dessert(we had room). It was on the heavy side, with lots of marscapone(?) — sort of like a cheese-cake. No lady fingers or descernable expresso. Overall though, a great dinner.

Four stars because the service was a little lacking, but the food was delicious. — We had the arrezo charcuterie plate, a Margherita pizza, a kale salad, a giant meatball(I know… sounds bizarre but is actually delicious), and some kind of tagliatelle with chicken and sausage. For dessert, we had chocolate mousse cake. Everything was decadent! The garlic bread that they bring out at the beginning of the meal is some of the best I’ve ever had. — The waiter seemed like he was in a terrible mood, but I’ll chalk it up to the fact that he was also serving the table behind us… and they were acting like a group of fatheads!

Great meal. Great service. Started with the meatball(enough for 4 people) then had the penne ala vodka with chicken. Tender chicken and the sauce had a hint of heat. Really good. My business partner had the braised short rib. The meat was fantastic but the risotto was just ok… Highly recommend this place.

Siena is a solid Italian restaurant with a nice selection of popular Italian-American dishes. We enjoyed a tasting board of meat, cheese, and olives with a really flavorful fig jam. Followed by the butternut squash ravioli and tagliatelle — sauce was spot on, so creamy and meaty and goody! Service was great, attentive, and enjoyable — this is a definite must-come-back!

To start off I must say that when I came in the place was kind of empty which didn’t really say great restaurant to me. That didn’t last long because it was soon packed with patrons to the ceiling. The interior was pretty nice and sleek which I liked but it could have a bit more lighting inside. Our server/waiter was the most professional person we’ve ever encountered. Our party was telling him so many different orders/requests and so fourth and he didn’t write a single thing down which surprised me but he did not do one thing wrong which was great. Service was top notch 5 stars. The food was also great. I was undecided on what to get but the server was going through their daily specials and the salmon special sounded great so I opted for that and I was pleasantly surprised with it. I’m normally not a big fan of salmon but I was trying to eat healthier so I got it and it was amazing. For the appetizer we just got their giant meatball dish and man was it tasty. Everyone else at the table seemed to like their meals including this twin breast chicken dish and slow cooked beef brisket meal. Everyone was elated with their choices. Food was 4.5 stars. The best part of the meal was definitely the desserts. We decided to just get two desserts and share it among the table. We picked their bread pudding and tiramisu. The bread pudding was the star of the show for everyone else but me. I really enjoyed it don’t get me wrong but their tiramisu was something else. It was the best tiramisu I’ve ever had and the portions were quite large. I will highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who’s in the neighborhood and looking for a nice night out. The service, food and atmosphere inside the place was all five stars for me.

This place truly deserves five stars. From making reservations to the service to the food, I loved it all. The penne a la vodka was to die for! It didn’t even need the additional chicken or shrimp(I got the chicken– I feel like it dried out the dish). I also highly recommend the meat and cheese platter!

A new favorite on Federal Hill!!! Service and atmosphere were top notch! Portions were enough to fill you up with extra to take home. Wine was tasty and delicious. Penne alla vodka was out of this world! Shared the side of old school Italian eggplant parm– perfect for two. Topped off the night with mouth watering chocolate moose cake… Just writing this review makes me want to go back!!! We will definitely be visiting Siena again!!! A must do while in Providence!

This is my third straight week in Providence for business, and I think I have been to this restaurant seven or eight times, generally to eat but not always. I made my way here on the recommendation of a co-worker and the fact that my hotel provided me with a free appetizer coupon. I am continuously impressed with the quality of the food and the lively, friendly atmosphere. The appetizers are usually more than enough for me, although I have had the salmon diavolo and last night’s special of rigatoni with porcini mushroom and truffle sauce. Both were outstanding as were the meatball appetizer(HUGE) and buffalo mozzarella appetizer. Add to the outstanding food is one of the most lovely and friendly bartenders(named Sienna coincidentally) I have ever met in all of my travels. She makes every visit a joy and is more than attentive to your enjoyment of a great dining experience. Recommendations would be highly recommended. Even dining alone at the bar, often after 8:00pm, I sometimes found the need to wait until a spot opened up for me. The place stays open late, and it is not unusual to see people arrive at 10:00pm for drinks and sometimes dinner. I have never seen a «slow» night here.

I have been to Siena for two restaurant weeks and I am so thankful they had almost the same menu. I got the exact same things as I did the previous year! The fried calamari with banana peppers is super tasty. My main course was the salmon with some creamy sauce on top and green beans to accompany it. For the last part of the meal I got a chocolate cake with a raspberry sauce and vanilla bean ice cream. My friend always gets their penne with vodka sauce. Huge portions, you will not leave hungry! She gave me some and the sauce was orgasmic. So you must try Siena especially on restaurant week because I loved my meal so much, I came back the next year to get it again… and come to think about it I probably will this year again.

Siena has become one of my favorite restaurants in Providence. The service is impecable. Very knowledgeable servers, very polite and very happy to be working there. The wine list is very good, including full bottles, half bottles and glasses. I loved their Beef Short ribs last time I was there. They were tender, flavorful, delicious. Served over a creamy risotto. I have also tried their Frutti di Mare. Absolutely perfect. All seafood items were cooked to perfection and the pasta was cooked al dente. Check it out ! You won’t be disappointed.

Siena is a restaurant located in Federal Hill at about the midway point of Atwells. You can find it in the center of a row of shops and restaurants, with parking along the street or in some back-lots or via valet. After suffering from a less-than-optimal experience at a local Guatemalan restaurant for lunch, I was excited to receive this above-par recommendation from one of our vendors for this fine dining establishment. Friday early evening and Siena was packed, luckily our vendor was a frequent visitor — our wait was about 45 minutes. The interior is nicely furnished and a bit classy for my regular t-shirt-and-shorts, but in this instance I was lucky to be dressed slightly above that level in business casual due to the earlier meeting. The restaurant is low lit so please excuse my rather dark and grainy photos — a short stint at the bar while waiting allowed me to sip on a rather good Harpoon IPA — this ended up being my go-to beer while visiting Rhode Island. The service was particularly good with frequent stops due to the length of time to get the food to the table — it wasn’t excessive once you adjust for the crowd and wait. Caprese Salad — this was atypical with arugula, tomato, fresh mozzarella cheese and crumbled cheese, drizzled with balsamic vinegar Arugula Salad — something a bit simpler than the caprese and very good. Scaloppine di Vitello Porcini — this very nice, classic veal scaloppine came finished with porcini mushrooms Filet Mignon Dinner Special — This very nice filet was covered in a compote of veggies and served with haricots vert and a wedge of polenta — this is what I had and it was divine. Frutti di Mare — Shrimp, clams, scallops and fish sauteed in red clam sauce on linguine. I was especially jealous of this dish(started to order it but someone at the table already had and against my gluttonous desires, demurred). Involtini di Melanzane — Pan-fried eggplant rolled with Prosciutto di Parma & herbed ricotta cheese, baked with marinara sauce. For our vegetarian, Sid. In all a delightful experience that I hope to one day repeat. It also ended up being some of the best food I had while visiting Providence. (longer review posted to my food blog)

I was very excited to try Siena because I had heard many great things, but I ended up pretty disappointed. I debated between 2 and 3 stars, but because Siena has such a great reputation we had high expectations that were not met in the least. The service it self was mediocre with our waitress often absent, despite the restaurant not being that busy The food was, for the most part, average. We shared a pizza for an appetizer, and it was pretty good. I also enjoyed the penne alla vodka. My boyfriend’s veal saltimbocca, however, was very disappointing. The veal was tiny and the green beans were burnt. The whole thing looked like it came from a frozen TV dinner tray. Maybe we just caught Siena in an off night, but I don’t think we’ll be back to give it another try.
