Pizzico is such a fantastic place amidst all the great restaurants of Hope Street. We dined there this past weekend and everyone was very happy with the whole experience. Our server was funny, friendly and attentive, drinks were inventive and delicious as was the food. We had the Toasted Coconut Martini and the Blue Rita(which is not blue due to the wonderful use of real blueberries, so it’s a delightfully burgundy Rita!) and some other random wines and martini’s around the table. For appetizers, we had the(insert proper Italian name here) tomato basil bisque, which I always order and is the best I’ve ever had. It even comes with the most amazing grilled cheese side for dipping! We also had the house made potato chips with Gorgonzola cream, out of this world delicious, the chips were perfect, not greasy, crunchy and perfectly seasoned and wonderfully paired with the Gorgonzola. Dinners were great as well, I had the chicken Saltamboca(sp?) with goat cheese smashed potatoes and the freshest, crispest green beans I think I’ve ever eaten. The flavors were spot on and it was such a satisfying meal. I had a bit of the mushroom risotto, which is finished with a tomato cream sauce, it was awesome and although I’m not personally a fish eater, everyone else said the cod was incredible. We skipped dessert because we had it back at the house afterwards, but I’ve had their desserts before, so I’m sure they would have been delicious. There are so many great restaurants on Hope Street but between the food, the staff and the environment/ambiance, Pizzico stands out for me. I highly recommend stopping in next time you’re looking for some fantastic Italian fare!

My husband and I went here for an «early dinner» on a Saturday night around 5pm with our baby in her stroller. The seating is a little tight but they were very accommodating and sat us at a little table where we could pull the stroller along side. Once seated, we reviewed the menu. The menu choices are ok, typical of an Italian restaurant, with a decent assortment of appetizers, pizza, pasta, beef, chicken and seafood. Not in the mood for a super heavy meal, we opted for the calamari, pizza, salad and soup. The calamari and pizza came out first. When we sat down the calamari passed us on the way to another table and the smell was intoxicating… in a good way… which swayed us to order. When we tried it, the calamari was ok, but certainly smelled better than it was. It wasn’t bad, I’ve just had better. The pizza on the other hand was wonderful! We ordered the Italiano pizza and it was perfect for us to share, cooked well and he flavors just work together! For our«second» course I had the Della Casa salad and my hubby had the De Campo soup, which took FOREVER to come! I mean it was a soup and salad which should’ve been the easiest thing to serve! But when it did arrive, the salad was fresh and HUGE plus the dressing was very good! My husband liked his soup, but again, wasn’t anything overly wow’ing about it. In summary, food was ok, but completely overpriced for the quality and quantity.

I had the stuffed gnocchis with shrimp, prosciutto, spinach, and shrimp. It was amazing. The gnocchis are stuffed with cheese. It melts in your mouth. I’ve never tasted anything like it. The location is good. A nice small restaurant with TVs at the bar. My wife had the pumpkin ravioli. I didn’t think it was that good. It had a cream sauce I felt didn’t match with the pumpkin. Andinos has a fall special, pumpkin ravioli with a maple Sauce they is just to die for. We also had the caprese salad. Wasn’t that impressed for $ 13. They gave us lettuce on the side but it had no dressing on it. So it was really unusable. And it was a lot. I also think this place is a little expensive. In conclusion, some short comings are completely offset by one of the best entrees I have ever had.

First I must say the service was so good it brought a «meh» up to A-OK. I love the place as far as look and feel however the food we ordered was not what I expected. I ordered Calamari, a favorite for me. The squid was tough and chewy, difficult to swallow. The breading was light and crisp, had they cooked the squid differently I think it may have been better. It was over cooked I am sure and maybe not so fresh. The other dish, shrimp scampy, had a sauce to die for, it was on pasta cooked well and adorned with old once-frozen shrimp. Trust me I know an old shrimp when I feel one in my mouth. I will try them again some day, no seafood though. They seemed to have bombed with freshness and cooking skill as far as the ocean fair is concerned. But what a cool little place with attentive staff who made the night a pleasure.

This place offers some wonderful dishes! The free bread and oil was really good. The list of specialty cocktails has about 8 drinks, all priced $ 12.99/each, which seems a bit high. Would be better value at $ 9.95. There were 4 specials for the night and my husband and I each chose one. I had the pan seared scallops with chirizo risotto and he had filet mignon with mashed potatoes, and trimmings. We started off with caesar salads, which were tasty, but could have done with a little more dressing, priced on the high side at $ 12.99 I believe. The scallops were done to «sliced like butter» perfection. Risotto was very delicious. My husband steak was tasty too. We did a taste swap . Couldn’t fit dessert, too stuffed. Our server was attentive, just didn’t bring our additional free bread even after it had been offered to us. All in all, the food was very good, but pricey.

The food is consistently good here and the service is always great. Tuesday and Wednesday nights they off great deals, half off men’s entrees and half off women’s entrees respectively. The staff is attentive, friendly and professional. The specialty cocktails are always spot on and delicious! Best entrees are the sea bass, duck and chicken salad.

I came to this restaurant with high expectations after reading many reviews. We had a groupon and we’re looking to try a new place. It was a Saturday night and we didn’t make a reservation and expected there to be a wait. We were told 30 mins and were sent to the bar and we ordered drinks. After almost an hour we found two open seats and decided to just order to at the bar the bartender was very attentive. After watching the host bus tables and ignore us finally 1.5 hours later(after we already ordered food at the bar) he came and asked us if we were waiting for a table. We had put our name in 1.5 hours earlier I get being busy but that’s just insanity

I found myself on Hope Street yesterday at Lunchtime, and had the good fortune of having a gift card to Pizzico in my wallet! No brainer, I popped in and the friendliest, nicest, smiling waitress gave me a lovely window seat(I was dining alone, something I don’t do frequently, but am always delighted to share my company and a book or magazine with myself!) The menu had many choices. I knew I wanted a salad to start so I ordered the Caesar(with anchovies for a slight upcharge) and the Margarita pizza(which I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish). The Caesar salad came first and it was over the top delicious. It had been nicely tossed with olive oil and garlic and whatever else those ingredients are that goes into a Caesar dressing. It was accompanied by two large(flat) croutons — which was really, I think, their delicious bread with olive oil and melted Parmesan, and the salad was topped with those perfect anchovy fillets. I was hungry and so I had the croutons first — perfecto! Then I put some small pieces of the extremely delicious bread served with the salad INTO the salad! The table bread was accompanied by a little plate of really GOOD olive oil, and it had some bits of things in it – pepper flakes or spices — not sure, but very good. Please allow me to rhapsodize about this amazing Caesar salad. It was perfection on a plate — absolutely delicious — and the nice server offered me freshly ground black pepper, which I gratefully accepted. Mmmmmmm. Mmmm! And then the pizza came! It looked gorgeous! It smelled wonderful! It was TOOBIG for me to eat after the salad and the bread! The Margarita was topped, per usual, with the sliced tomatoes and melted fresh mozzarella cheese, and spices and I suspect olive oil. I had to taste it, of course, and it was delicious! I tried a slice and the nice waitress then packed it up into a take home box. The ONLY thing I can find to complain about — and it’s totally NOT the chef’s fault that tomatoes are not in season here, is that the tomatoes were not in season. :-). He wisely chose a smaller tomato variety — not quite a cherry or grape tomato. But more like a Campari tomato. They weren’t bad — but if they had been fresh from the garden summer tomatoes, the pizza would have been off the charts. I am giving four stars — I really WANT to give four and a half but not possible on Unilocal. The service, the ambiance and the food were really, really nice. This was my first visit to Pizzico, but I absolutely know it will not be my last and next time I go to Pizzico, I’m pretty certain it will be a five star visit. I did not find it particularly pricey for a nice white tablecloth restaurant, which it is — my bill with tax was under $ 25. And that included almost a whole pizza which I took home. I highly recommend Pizzico!

Wow, so after an hour an a half after ordering, and everyone around us ordering, eating, finishing their meals around us, paying and even leaving, we were still waiting for our meal. I ordered Chilean Sea Bass, and a thin filet of black sea bass arrived without explanation. Did they think I wouldn’t notice or not know the difference? I was told at first that Chilean fish takes longer to cook when we asked about the delay… wow, really? Then the manager came over, apologized and said that they had run out of the Chilean Sea Bass and had to THAW the black sea bass thus the delay. Again, REALLY!!! I was never told they were out of what I ordered. I used to be a regular, but hadn’t been in to eat in over a year. Never again. I left Pizzico feeling disappointed, deceived and very hungry.

Went here last week, loved the ambiance! I was pretty shocked to see how expensive the menu was. I got the Chilean sea bass over shrimp risotto($ 35.00). The fish didn’t have much of a taste to it, the risotto was good though. Overall, there are plenty of better places to dine at in Providence. Service was excellent!

Went back after well over a year. I mean gotta give a place at least two try’s…this time I went with a friend for a late dinner on a Tuesday. So service was good as expected since it wasn’t busy. I gotta say I had the sea bass with seafood risotto… oh my god the buttery goodness of this dish. Cooked perfect. I ate it for lunch the next day as well and I don’t even like leftovers! Pricey for sure but that dinner was amazing. Thank you Pizzico for an average experience prior to this and for the good dinner that made up for it

My dinner date and I got an Amazon deal($ 20 for $ 40) and we had never tried Pizzico despite living so close so we gave it a try. It had a great ambiance and very upscale clientele so we were excited to check out the menu. We need it would be more on the expensive side but $ 17 for a calamari appetizer is a little steep. Thankful their wine prices were pretty much the going rate! I ordered the veal parm which was a little too well done but none the less quite tasty. My date ordered the mushroom risotto which was delish(I tried and can attest!). Will I be back? More than likely no. But I was happy I tried.

This place is okay, but just ok. The décor was nice, the appetizers were very good, but the main meals were just alright and the cocktails weren’t the best. The service was a little lacking, we stood in the entry way for some time and waitstaff saw us but didn’t greet us or seat us! We didn’t feel very wanted and to top it off I was bombarded by flies! Yuck to say the least. Bottom line? If you want Italian head to federal hill.

I got at certificate, so I decided to give Pizzico a try. I had eaten there maybe about 5 years ago, and it was not memorable, so I said… why not ! We ordered a few things to try… here is what we ordered and our feedback on them… — Thin grilled pizza with pepperoni — The crust was nice and crispy. Not as thin as I like it but OK. The toppings were greasy, overflowing and not very flavorful. — The Pear Gorgonzola salad was OK. Slices of pear were warm(maybe even grilled). The greens were fresh, but nothing to write home about. — The spinach ravioli — It was bland. The filling was kind of slimy. The tomato sauce on top of was too much. Definitely, we have experienced better.

I’ve enjoyed Pizzico just about every time I’ve visited. My fiancé and I use or groupon when we dine so it gives us a nice break from the cost. I think its a little pricey otherwise. The ambiance is classy and cozy. Its romantic and you get a nice feel without having to go downtown. I normally get a salmon dish. A salty, delicious, well prepared meal that pairs nicely with a glass of wine. Their calamari is usually pretty good too. You can also enjoy complementary bread and olive oil while you wait for your meal. If there is a wait for a table their bar is pretty nice although not too spacious. Overall its a pretty decent place. Service has always been great. I just wouldn’t pay full price.

I went here for restaurant week with my friends. The inside was fancy and beautiful, but I was not impressed with the food. I mean, the food wasn’t bad by any means, but for $ 30, I guess I expected either higher quality pasta or a larger quantity. I ordered the Melanzana Fritta Tower, which if just a fancy name for fried eggplant with cheese and salad dressing. It was decent, but came out way too hot. I had wait a couple of minutes before actually enjoying the appetizer. My entrée was the Raviol de Spinachi, which is Italian for what I venture to guess is Ravioli stuffed with spinach. When my dish came, I counted the amount of ravioli on my plate. 1, 2, 34…5! Yes, FIVE pieces of ravioli for a meal that normally costs $ 20! The dessert was probably the best part of the meal(probably due to some combination of my sweet tooth at the high quality of the dessert). I got the chocolate moose. Very rich. Definitely something that could be savored. Service WAS very good. I didn’t have to ask for a water refill once and the check came out quickly. Otherwise, I would probably not pay 5 star prices for a 3 star meal ever again.

I really like this place. The ambiance is dark and warm, perfect for a couples night out. It’s small inside, but you don’t feel like you’re on top of anyone else due to the lighting. The service is friendly, the bread and olive oil is awesome. I always get the salmon, it’s amazing! The salty broth that it’s served with is perfectly balanced, My hesitation to give it 5 stars is the price. $ 10 for a low-shelf whiskey and coke? And the salmon was $ 26, you can basically get the same thing at Red Stripe for $ 19 or $ 20. Not sure why it’s so expensive. If that doesn’t matter to you, this is the place to go!

In RI, Italian restaurants are plentiful. You can find one in almost any neighborhood. I’ve always been a fan of Italian cuisine, so I’m always looking to try new and exciting Italian restaurants in my area. Pizzico was somewhat unexpected. I hadn’t even heard of it until my friend mentioned she had a LivingSocial deal and wanted to try it together for dinner one night. The experience overall was quite good. The staff was friendly, the bread was tasty, and the Tea For Me cocktail I tried(with tea-flavored vodka, honey, lemon, and St. Germain) was fantastic! I also really loved the fried eggplant and goat cheese appetizer. It was piping hot and crispy, with tons of yummy goat cheese in between the layers of eggplant. My friend enjoyed the stuffed gnocchi as her entrée and loved it, while I tried a special comprised of seared scallops and veggie risotto. Although the scallops could have had a better sear, they were tasty, as was the risotto. The portions were decent sized, and the prices are comparable to like restaurants on the Hill. Although I wouldn’t label Pizzico as a new favorite(it’s tough competition in Providence for Italian spots), I was still very pleased by our meal. I would happily revisit Pizzico in the future, and would DEFINITELY do a repeat on that amazing cocktail!

With a name like Pizzico, I was expecting a production line of pizza pies. I was surprised when my dining companion suggested it. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised! Their menu is elegant and sophisticated. «Fancy Italian«. They also offer specials highlighting local fare, but beware, they sell out quick. My friend and I split the Caprese salad and the Pork with gnocchi. Delicious! My basil cocktail was a bit to citrusy. I’ll be back!

I purchased a Living Social deal, which finally pushed me to try this local gem. I’m glad I did. The mixed reviews scared me a bit, but I’m glad I ignored them. As others have mentioned, I arrived to find that all the specials written on the board had been«sold out.» However, the server presented us with two other specials verbally, which left me a bit confused. My visit was on a Sunday evening at 8pm. The restaurant is intimate, charming, and very warm/inviting — a great place for a date night. Easily accessible street parking was available right out front. I had submitted a request for a reservation on the website, but it wasn’t necessary. On to the food! We stayed away from appetizers so that we could enjoy our meals — and we did! The specials were tempting, but we ordered two dishes off the main dinner menu: a pumpkin ravioli served in a pesto cream sauce and the pappardelle bolognese. Both were spectacular. The pumpkin ravioli were a bit sweet, but if you enjoy that, you’re in for a real treat. The pesto cream sauce stole the show; it was divine. For dessert, we shared the dark chocolate mousse cake. It did not disappoint. It’s quite rich, but after requesting a glass of milk from the bar, it was perfection. Ah, and the bread… I am a bread snob and this basket of perfect little bite sized pieces served with olive oil for dipping was delicious and super fresh. The server was so incredibly sweet, attentive, and knowledgeable. She is a true professional — personable while still very professional. She’s an asset to the business for sure. All in all a positive experience. I’m glad I finally made it in!
