Just an overall wonderful experience. From the hilarious, high energy banter between the locals and the staff; to our wonderfully friendly greeting and service; and finally… ohhh, those incredible dogs done all the way… onions, mustard, celery salt. and the spectacular meat sauce. Definitely in my top 5 hot dogs of all time anywhere. Go out of your way to get these!!! You will not be disappointed.

I was really craving hotdogs and Unilocal reviews were really good for this place, so I thought I’d give it a try.
I didn’t really like the hotdogs, but it was more so because of the meat sauce. The fries were crispy and delicious but the food didn’t have any kind of wow factor for me.

:warning: I have literally ingested gasoline b4 cyphening for dirtbikes out of cars… Burping heartburn and farting is exactly the same as eating 4 all the way!!! The burgers are delish. Breakfast is cheap and good! Eat hear if you dont want to live forever! Enjoy life!

I don’t find myself in Olneyville too often, so when I did I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try this James Beard award-​winning diner. Having sampled the hot wieners and coffee milk, I would concur with Mr. Beard that this is truly one of America’s classics. Just don’t come here if you need be be productive in the next few hours because these hot dogs (sorry, wieners) will knock you out!
Growing up in New England, you learn to tell the difference between gruff and unfriendly, and the employees here are simply gruff. You won’t have to wait long: it seemed like the guy taking my order was already spooning meat sauce onto my wieners before I finished ordering!
You can get a combo with two wieners, small fries, and a fountain drink for $ 7.99, but I was much more satisfied with two wieners and a small coffee milk for ~$ 7.80. Unless you’re super hungry or sharing with someone, the fries would probably be overwhelming anyway.
I’m not new to coffee milk, but it seemed like the coffee milk here was especially delicious and milkshake-​like. Whether you’re trying it for the first time or a seasoned Rhode Islander, don’t pass it up – it’s the perfect contrast to the savory wieners.
I ordered take out, but I would recommend eating in, because the buns got pretty soggy by the time I got to eat. All the components (meat sauce, mustard, onions, steamed dog, steamed bun) are «wet,» so it’s not really a textural extravaganza, but the flavor certainly picks up the slack.
If you don’t already appreciate the magic of a good hot dog, New York System just might change your mind. Now I need a nap to digest all this meat…

I have been to their outpost in Cranston several times and have never been disappointed. This place has a lot more old school character.
Had 2 dogs all the way minus onions an order of fries and a coffee milk. Quick efficient service adn food was excellent.

I felt I died a little, but the experience was worth it. The textures all play so well toeghter of the Hot Winers. A natural casing snap surrounded by the softly steamed bun topped with a smear of dutch mustard expertly ground and seasoned meat sauce, precisely chopped onions and sprinkled gently with celery salt put me in a very happy place. 2 was not enough, 4 was too many. On my next visit, I must find moderation in my plan. Oh, the fries weren’t bad either. There is a way they do it up there, that next time I’ll figure out, something with vinegar…

You are basically stepping into an old school diner with a menu on the wall, character waiters, and awesome prices. I wouldnt say the meal was outstanding but it was satisfying, well executed, tasty, and exactly what we expected. We ordered three wieners «all the way» and a coffee milk. The bread was the real winner, it was incredibly soft. All the things they put in the hot dog was really tasty — exactly what I would be looking for if I wanted a quick, cheap meal. I like sweet drinks so the coffee milk was great. If they served it in a slushy form, I would drink a million of them over the summer.
We weren’t sure if a place like that would take credit cards but thankfully they did. We would come here again in the future if we were looking for a simple, diner classic meal.

I went last night with my boyfriend who is originally from Rhode Island. He swore this place was delicious. I have to admit it is!!! We each had 3 «all the way» and shared a large fries. We made it in the door before 2am. I wish that had hot wieners in LA!!! I will definitely come back here!!!

A Rhode Island institution, I have heard of these wieners and knew in order to experience it done right I had to come here.
Of course the only way to have It is «all the way» along with a pint of coffee milk.
The owner is super cool and knowledgable and told us they have been here for 70 years and he is proud of his family tradition as he should be.
It’s amazing here and you just need to come.
I don’t know about all the other items they serve, but I’m sure they are all just as tasty.

I can say that this was one of my easiest reviews. We had the Rhode Island combo, wieners all the way, small fry and a coffee milk. I’m hoping that when my son has kids this place is still open and he takes them for the same combo.

Since we were driving by Providence, we decided to swing by to check it out since we just watched it featured on TV.
When you walk it, it’s a bit overwhelming if you have never been there before as they definitely cater to the regulars. You have to know what you want and know it quickly as they are trying to move people in and out as fast as possible. Listening to the regulars order is interesting, but then it makes you think, how should you put in the order.
Everyone was ordering 5,6,7 wieners at a time, which made my order seem small.
We ordered a wiener special, which included 2 wieners, small fries and a drink and we also added a coffee milk.
The wieners were good but it didn’t have that kick and snap we were looking for. The fries are nice and crispy — I had wanted to try the chili fries that everyone was talking about, but it would have been too much food for us. The coffee milk was good, it was almost like drinking a melted coffee ice cream.
Service for sit down is much faster than take out.
Definitely worth a try if you are in the area!

Out-​of-​towners MUST come here! We were looking for local authentic Rhode Island flavor and this place delivered. My husband and I went for the classic hot wienies (don’t be fooled by the signs – the say wienies, wieners) with extra celery salt and shared a large coffee milk, which was really sweet, but not as much as I’d anticipated. All of it was great! Very different flavor and style from LA Dodger and Pink’s dogs, and the guys behind the counter were awesome to watch and listen to as they bantered back and forth.
If you are still hungry, try what I heard locals refer to as ‘air dogs,’ or just hot dog buns with meat sauce sans wienie… like a Sloppy Joe :)

I guess if you’re from Providence then this is a happening place. But not to me. The hot dogs are mushy! Yuk!
I’m from New York so I’m accustomed to a good dog that snaps when you bite into it, with great flavor.
This hot dog not only was it mushy but it lacked flavor.
I heard about this place being the best, so when visiting family I decided to give it a try.
Nothing to brag about.

Swung in here late night after visiting a speak easy down the street. This place had all the qualifications for a dive; off the beaten path, humble atmosphere, old stuff every where and a griddle packed with dogs and other stuff. I ended up in snagging a few hot dogs, fully loaded of course.
The dogs themselves were greasy and delicious. The chili was pretty good too. My only complaint about the hot dogs was the casing was pretty tough and hard to bite through.
I would definitely return again for some late night grubbing. Especially those hot dogs!

We were welcomed by a familiar face we’d never met. The guy behind the counter told us all about their wieners and how the chili recipe was only known by 3 people. He was pretty cool!
We ordered the hot wiener special with coffee milk. The dogs were juicy, salty, and were complemented nicely by the finely chopped white onions, mustard, and chili. Don’t forget the celery sawlt! I’d give anything to have those fries again, though. Crispy, crunchy, fluffy, and steaming hot.
The coffee milk was oddly refreshing. It didn’t quite taste like coffee, or milk, for the matter. But it was good.

I love this place for the Wieners That’s why you come here. I can not comment on anything else. Never tried anything else!
I recommend you get here before the late night rush, which can start as early as 11.

Stepping into this joint transformed me back to a 70s diner, brazen with the orange and dark yellow hues from the counter tops and seats. It was a sleepy day during Memorial weekend, light foot traffic and several tables were left uncleaned. The wieners are tasty, but this place is a 10 – 15 minute drive away from the city center. I’m not sure if it’s worth the hike. The best part of the wieners are the meat chili and light dusting of celery salt.
You won’t find any ketchup on these dogs. In fact, there is a sign saying something to the tune of. if you put ketchup on your wiener, you’ll go to hell.
If you happen to be in the Olneyville area, swing by, but I wouldn’t go out of your way.

Story time: This Diva and entourage of fabulous is on the road heading to Cape Cod to do #Capeturnt activities! Angelie felt compelled to come here for food for our half-​way stop instead of some #tragic outhouse with bad food! Everything was great with signage and employees until I finished eating: X! The cook, on the cook line, ate half a piece of bacon and then grabbed gloves to cook! :O WTF! Then when I went to the bathroom, I saw cooked beef in a pot just sitting there and fries just sitting there?! OMG I AM GOING TO GET FOOD POISONING… That was 30 minutes ago! THEN TO TOP IT OFF… while leaving I saw this old man with disco lights in his car with rap music on blast! Yea… It was time to leave RHODE ISLAND! #icant
Synopsis: The signage here is hilarious! And the employees are nice! However, establishment as a whole needs to work on their HACCP protocols! LIKE SERIOUSLY! I should actually report them to the Department of Health (which I will)! The food is over-​rated compared to the reviews which makes me wonder if the people in this state even have a valid pallet to be judging food, accurately…
Environment: Signage is by far the only thing that saves this place from getting a zero! My favorite: «Prices vary according to attitude of customers!» LOL
Employees: The only reason why this got a one instead of a zero is because the new guy was very nice!
Food:
Wieners: Proclaimed with high honor on a pedal-​stool! I can simply make this! This needs more Gucci! It simply has a lot of sodium upon sodium to make it taste «good.» ¹⁄₅
Chili fries with cheese: I feel like sonic the hedgehog l! This was actually not that bad! ³⁄₅
Drinks:
Coffee Milk: simply as it sounds! There is an accurate ratio of sugar and coffee flavor! Amazingly on-​point! ⁵⁄₅
Cost: Über cheap! For a flaccid hot dog, chili fries, and coffee milk ~$ 8! Cheap only if you don’t get attack by food poisoning!

I really enjoy Olneyville NY System. The moment my family and I walked in, we were welcomed by the kind and hardworking servers. They were on their games and made sure we were taken care of every moment we were there. This eatery has a really comfortable atmosphere, with fun booths and walls filled with awards and pictures of famous food personalities lining the walls. The staff here is ridiculously nice and efficient.
The food is good, especially the hot dogs and famous meat sauce. (There’s no sauerkraut for the dogs, sorry if you like it, but you probably won’t need or want it with the sauce!!)
Did I mention you should get a coffee milk? The servers make it perfectly here. It has such great flavor that isn’t overwhelmingly and is perfect in sweetness. You need to try this Rhode Island staple here! Like this eatery, it’s a classic.
You get exactly what you want, no frills. Quick service to enjoy your hot dogs, burgers, and, of course, coffee milk. Also, right next to the eatery is free parking in a sizable lot.
With an Olneyville NY System glass to use for my coffee milk at home (though I won’t be able to make it nearly as well as here) and a coffee milk to go, I left with a happy belly and an excellent experience.

A True Classic
Oh Olneyville NYS. The memories I have at this place with my dad when I was young to a bunch of late night shenanigans later on in life.
This is my second favorite wiener place in RI, right behind NYS in Woonsocket.
The difference here is that the wiener itself is different. It’s a fully cut link instead of an individual dog. The link itself is a bit bigger and delicious.
Nothing can beat watching the man spin up 10 of these at time grabbing dogs off that classic griddle with the weenies swimming in that one and only orange grease.
This spot is a classic diner style place with the old signs on the wall and stainless steel bar stools at the corner.
It’s a classic spot and the dogs won’t disappoint. You can’t eat these things everyday, but every once in while they fulfill that greasy craving. Especially after a long night of drinking.
Tip:
The place closes at 1AM but the window will serve food till 3 on weekends.
Enjoy this place and don’t eat too many, they bite back.
