This little place has the best quiche around. It was light with a thin flaky crust, very delicious! I usually do not order quiche at restaurants because they are dense with way too much crust, but this place changed my feelings about quiche. They sell by the slice or you can order a whole pie for home. I’ll definitely be back and probably order one for the holidays too.

Stopped in on a whim for lunch… Had the most silky quiche I have ever eaten… they apparently do gluten free pastry on full quiche orders. Disappointed that the drinks were from a cooler, and there were no side choices. In the end, the quiche was a large portion and very fresh and satisfying.

Really great place to stop by for lunch. The owner is super nice, and was really helpful when I had my hands full with kids. I will definitely go back here, great service!

The Quiche was a disappointment. It was so thin(an inch high or so) and the ingedients seemed sparse to us. We had ordered a whole quiche to take home. The chicken was barely detectable.

I was wandering around the PV shops looking for someplace to grab a quick lunch, but not fast food or anything super unhealthy. I really wanted to try Café Province, but I was dressed very casually, and I wasn’t in the mood to feel self-conscious. Besides, I’d rather try CP on a day when I have a fellow lunchmate who can appreciate the vino. So, I rounded the corner and stumbled upon C Jack’s Sidewalk Café, an unpretentious, inviting café and decided to give it a try. Hands down, the best decision I could have made. C Jack’s has a fairly normal café menu — salads, sandwiches, and soups. They also had some quiches, which you can order an entire one in advance and take it home(would be a good pot luck or hostess gift… must remember that for future reference… anyway, I digress). What is not normal about their menu is the execution. I ordered the California Chicken Club and a cup of Tomato Basil soup. When my order was placed before me, I immediately knew this was not your run-of-the-mill sandwich shop. The sandwich was a real sandwich — packed with fresh ingredients which happened to fall onto your plate when you take a bite. The sandwich was huge, with thick slices of roast chicken breast(that you could tell they had been cut from a chicken just like your mom does), fresh onions, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, and just enough dijon to add flavor without saying«Yo, I’m Dijon, would you like some sandwich with that?» The bread was also amazing — wheat berry, soft, brilliant texture, and couldn’t have been more than a few hours removed from the oven. Also, I substituted swiss cheese for provolone, which was super easy since they make every sandwich to order. The tomato basil soup deserves its own paragraph. I was expecting more soup than substance, and what I got was the perfect balance of each. The cup was really a cup, with a little cheese sprinkled on top. The flavor was amazing — a perfect blend of spices and the texture of the soup was thick and chunky and amazing. True it wasn’t steaming hot, but it was also 104 degrees outside. I would come back just for this. The service could have been friendlier, but they took care of me and came over to refill my ice water twice(and I was only there for about 30 minutes!). Food is 5 stars, service 3, overall 4 stars. A great place to come and hang out with a good book or a laptop.

Had lunch on a gloomy Monday-yesterday. It totally exceeded my expectations. Small, quiet, warm, friendly. I had the quiche Lorraine and tomato bisque. Both were perfect. The soup, obviously high quality was perfectly seasoned, rich, not that cloying sweet stuff from a can. I could have eaten a quart of it-a group of ladies actually bought a quart to go after having lunch! The quiche had a perfectly crisp crust-not doughy, cooked flawlessly. The filling-classic. Bacon, eggs light as a cloud and of course, cheese. Bubbly brown on top. Not a big goopy mess like most restaurants. A light tart as it should be. Could have eaten a whole one if given enough time. I will be back, and often! Yum and so relaxing.

I had C. Jack’s for a solo lunch today and I left a bit disappointed. I would give 2.5 stars if I could, but I’ll bump it up to 3 stars on the chance that I just stopped in on a bad day. The menu is great, offering a variety of sandwiches, soups, and salads. I like when a menu isn’t overwhelmingly large, sometimes I need my limits; otherwise, I’d never make a decision. Atmosphere: Quaint café. Perfect setting for a solo lunch with a good book. I sat outside; it got warm, but the tables were nicely shaded. Aside from the one or two pedestrians, it was a quiet setting. The street traffic wasn’t bothersome either, so I was able to read in peace. Service: Just eh. I was the only person in the restaurant, so when I was greeted, the girl behind the counter wasn’t welcoming or jubilant. I didn’t expect her to do a song and dance, but a smile would have been nice. I just received a bland«hi». I saw a stack of table numbers by the register, but wasn’t given one after I ordered. I suppose since I was the only person there, the number wasn’t necessary. Rather than invite me to have a seat, the counter girl gave me my water, turned around and walked to the back. I was left standing there confused. Should I just wait here, do I sit down, will she know I went outside, etc. Food: I ordered the Quiche Lorraine-Basil Tomato Soup combo. They looked and smelled very good, but both were certainly disappointing. The quiche had a nice crust on it and the cheese was tantalizingly brown on the top. The egg custard within the quiche itself was really delicate. The disappointment came from the overall saltiness of the dish. As it’s a Lorraine, I expected bacon, but I could tell that the saltiness came from more than just the bacon. It was a big turnoff. I tried to salvage the pieces that I liked(the crust, the tasty brown top, etc), but I had no desire for finishing the last half of it. The soup was not any better. It barely came out warm. I like my hot soups to be hot. It wasn’t cold, but it was more on the cold side of the spectrum than the hot. It wasn’t warm enough to require my blowing on that first slurp. Getting past the temperature, the soup was a like a creamy bisque which was nice except you had to chew through chunks of onion — so it was a chunky soup disguised as a bisque. I appreciated the general flavor of the soup, but unfortunately each spoonful of soup contained at least a couple chunks of onion. Though disappointing, I’m willing to try C. Jack’s for lunch again — if just for the quiet, book-friendly atmosphere.

Well, they don’t have the scones anymore, except for special occasions – so get them to cater your event. Anyhow, I haven’t been back in a while. Memories.
