Studio Ten 83

Jessica has been cutting my hair for years now and I trust her 100% with my hair. Despite the fact that I am the worse ever customer (my schedule gets crazy and it can be months between appointments) everyone always greets me like I’m a regular and Jessica always seems to remember exactly how I like my hair.

I used to travel to Philly (where I often work) to have my hair done. Then I saw a woman w/​a cut that looked great. I asked her who does her hair and I was lead to Lan. Lucky me! Lan has done my hair 3 or 4 times and I’m not going back to Philly anymore. She gives a precision cut with the style, layering and depth that I like. I had been to quite a few people in this area in the past 20 years and Lan is excellent. Prices are moderate-​to-​high, but i get such a great cut I don’t care about the few extra dollars. Advice: you need to book well in advance which is the only negative for me. I prefer to be able to make an appt. that week, but it’s a sacrafice that’s worth it.

I love this salon (or rather Christina). Christina is fabulous. She takes her time on my curly hair and really does all she can to make sure you walk away happy. Sweet girl.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Steve for about 8 years now. He’s a really nice guy and consistently does a great job.

I have been dying my hair for 15 years every 4 weeks and this has been the WORST salon experience of my life!!!
I showed the stylist/​colorist (Steve/​Owner) a description of the color that my previous stylist always used on my hair before we got started and he said that this would be no problem. The actual experience was not bad. He had someone else put the color on my hair and wash it out once my time was up. He then took back over for my cut and blow dry. The blow dry was flat and dull and the color looked off as in slightly orange. I paid more than $ 200 for all of this with tip and left. Only to have the orange color become worse as the night went on!
I immediately called the following morning (Saturday) as my roots were beyond orange and I had a flight to catch first thing Monday morning for a 2 week trip. I was told that there is no way my hair could look that bad and «it must be the lighting» in my apartment!!! I asked to come back in to have my color corrected he agreed to squeeze me in.
Once back at the salon he agreed that my hair was in fact orange but it was still my fault because I didn’t tell him I need to be double processed. This is not true as I alternate double processing my hair every other dye job. He did correct my color in the end but took zero responsibility for the miss hap, made me blow out my own hair the day I came back because he didn’t have enough time and charged me another $ 100 on top of what I paid the day before!!!
I have no problem with the fact that my hair was turned an orange color on accident the problem is with how poorly this salon handled the issue.
Thankfully I have since found an amazing salon in DC and I am back to enjoying my coloring experience each month.

I moved to MD from Philly and for 2 years was going back to get my haircut. A friend recommended i see Steve at Studio Ten 83 and i have been going to him for hte last 4 years. He’s an excellent stylist, takes a lot of time and care in making sure my highlights and cut are perfect before i leave and is definitely worht the money. One time the front desk girl messsed up my appointment time and Steve’s schedule was completely booked. He stayed late one night so i could come in and still have my appointment. I highly recommend Steve and Studio Ten 83.

I just moved to DC and had the good fortune to get a recommendation for Abdullah. I’ve been in for both a cut and highlights and I’m extremely happy with both. My hair is easier to style at home and my highlights make my hair look sun-​kissed. I highly recommend Abdullah. Plus, the traffic for a morning appointment from DC isn’t bad at all since you’re going against traffic.
The only drawback is that the salon does charge for a blowdry if you have just a color appointment. (The only reason for the 4 stars)

Hidden Undisclosed Costs. Unprofessional. Unpleasant. Combative.
Tried to schedule an appt. with Lon for cut and color. Since she was booked solid for weeks, Salon recommend that I book 2 separate dates. Booked color first. After Lon did color, assistant rinsed hair. Left me with wet head approx. 15 minutes. Returned and said, «You’re done.» Shocked. Salon thinks it’s good policy for customers to leave with wet heads (esp. in the winter)?! Assistant left again (presumably to talk to Lon). Returned and said, «Lon is too busy to dry your hair. You can do it yourself.» Handed me blow dryer and walked off.
Frantically started drying hair in middle of Salon. Lon came over herself. Said she was too busy, but would I please let someone else dry my hair. Coaxed me into having someone else finish up the other ½ of blow drying.
Went to check out. Billed for coloring AND SEPARATE $ 45 charge for hair drying. Asked to speak to manager. They sent over Lon, who said she is one of the owners. I explained that I can’t believe the hair drying charge. Lon claimed this is a standard practice among all salons. Really?! I explained that I was never told, at ANY POINT (booking, hair cutting, self blow drying), that this was a separate, chargeable service; nor was it posted anywhere in the salon. Lon was EXTREMELY unyielding and combative. Customer beware!

Lindsay is the best! I am incredibly picky about how I want my hair cut and styled, and she always nails the look I want. Lindsay is the only hairstylist I’ve ever felt the need to go back to exclusively.

Marina is the only person I let touch my hair. She is amazing. Make an appointment though if you’re going in on the weekend, her schedule fills up fast.

I absolutely LOVE this Salon! It is always clean and the hairstylist are all a pleasure to be around. Not only do I love this salon, but Abdullah is the most amazing hair stylist! I have been a client of his for almost a two years now and will never let any other hairstylist touch my hair. Honestly, I have never been so pleased with the results I get each and every time I leave the salon. He really takes the time to make my hair look extremely healthy and makes sure I love my hair before I leave. I have gotten so many complements on my hair from family and friends. Not only is he a great stylist, but he is very nice and patient. Always a pleasure to be around!
I have been searching for the perfect stylist for years and my search is finally over. I have been recommending him to all of my friends and colleagues and they are happy with their results as well!
I definitely would recommend Abdullah! :) You will love him as well as the salon!

Steve has been cutting my hair for almost twenty years now, and I don’t trust anyone else, ever, to do the job. I moved two years ago to Manhattan, but return to Maryland a couple of times a year — just to go to Studio Ten83 and have Steve work his magic. Honestly, every time I come out of there I have at least one person tell me I look like a movie star.

I wanted to donate to locks of love and was able to make an appointment same day. My stylist Jessica was fantastic, worked with me to understand what I wanted then made it amazing! I just moved from Florida and this was my first hair cut. Even though its 40 min away I’ll be coming here from now on!
