Went there for my brother’s birthday. Greeted very warmly. Waiter was awesome and gave great recommendations. He had a welcoming aura. Apparently each day has a different specials so some of the party decided to try the specials. The lamb special was delicious. Meat was tender and didn’t have that strong lamb smell/taste one would notice usually while eating lamb. The meat was done medium rare which was great. The ratatouille that came with it was great. Another special was a pasta in red sauce with various seafood(crab meat, shrimp, something else I forgot). It was tasty. The amount of crab meat was generous, with each bite you can taste the crab. The spaghetti noodles was done really well. I guess its homemade or something, but it had a distinct seasoned taste to it, but in a good way. The noodles felt thick, much better than your usual spaghetti. They had a Mediterranean sea bass fillet which was good, but I didn’t taste it. Looked wonderful though. The gnocchi with duck ragu was great! The gnocchi was heavy and soft, but not uncomfortably heavy. The duck ragu, well I didn’t really taste the duck. It just tasted like ground meat to me. Rainbow trout fillet looked really well done and the fish was meaty. The sirloin steak was great, but what kinda turned me down was how the steak was on paper and served on a wooden paddle. While the steak was being the cut, the paper would be cut too and kinda got in the way, giving off the annoying vibe. Otherwise, 10⁄10 would come back again!

Our favorite local Italian hangout! Stellar food and service always! Ivan is our favorite waiter. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Great apps, especially the octopus. Nice cheese platter. Excellent pastas and main courses. Walnut cake my favorite dessert!

I was in the Rockville area meeting a friend for lunch when I realized that the restaurant we were planning to go to did not open until 4PM. Craving some fresh pasta, I grabbed my phone and did a quick Unilocal search and found this place. When we arrived, we were seated right away and our server was at our table even before I took my jacket off. We were given a basket of bread and offered olive oil. Looking through the menu, I was a little surprised at the small pasta selection(about 5 or 6 dishes to choose from). However they have many other dishes on their menu. My friend and I decided to split our meal. We ordered the lentil soup(special of the day), a Caesar salad, and homemade Alfredo with veal and beef ragu. The timing of when everything was served was perfect. The soup came out right away, salad quickly followed, then as soon as we were done, our pasta arrived. They even split everything in two for us, which I really appreciated. Not many places will do that for you. We got two different kinds of bread in our basket. One I think was sourdough(?) which was a bit on the salty side and the other was some sort of focaccia bread which was ok. Would have been nice if they were served warm. Both went very well with olive oil. Lentil soup was great! Cesar salad was good. I really enjoyed the pasta dish. It had such wonderful flavor to it. The meat tasted very lean. However, it was a tad on the salty side. I enjoyed the pasta so much that I kept thinking about it during my 40 minute drive back home! My friend however thought it was too salty and did not finish her half. Service — excellent! 5 out of 5 stars! Our servers were extremely attentive. Restaurant itself is very clean. There is a large parking lot in front of the restaurant, no charge. I will definitely come back next time I’m in the area and craving some wonderful authentic Italian food. So many other things on the menu that I would like to try.

I took the family for dinner a couple of nights ago. The meal was simply outstanding. Great service, as always. The food was wonderful. My daughter got a pizza, my wife got seafood, and I got a steak. The steak was perfectly prepared and my wife loved the seafood. Thanks again for a wonderful evening!

Amici Miei means my friend in Italian. It’s located off Seven Locks Rd same shopping center as Walgreens. I came here with a friend to celebrate a special Unilocaler birthday along with 20 other guests. We were greeted by the owner and by our waiter. We were told the house specials and our drinks orders were taken. At times it felt like service lagged. The bread was nice and toasty with a good olive oil to dip it in. I ordered spinach and ricotta ravioli. My friend ordered a pizza magarita. The ambience was nice and the restaurant was neatly decorated with nice art work. Once my food came out I was slightly disappointed in the portion amount and how scantly my ravioli filling had. The butter sage sauce was bland. I had asked one of the waiters if I could have Alfredo sauce on the side so I can enjoy my meal but he got another waiter since he didn’t understand me. I also mentioned that my ravioli was lukewarm but he didn’t say anything. However, he mentioned that my Alfredo sauce would have to be made no problem I said. Meanwhile my friend enjoyed the pizza very much. I enjoyed it too though the sauce could have used a little bit more seasoning. Then I was given my Alfredo sauce and I was further disappointed to the point of why did I bother asking. I make homemade Alfredo sauce and never looks like that. It suppose to be medium consistency and velvety. The sauce tasted something not like Alfredo sauce. I was very disappointed in my dinner entrée rather to complain more I just ate it cold. The portion was so small for the price and I was expecting a side item to go with my meal like soup or salad but it was extra. Then came dessert. So many good selections to choose from. I choose triamisu. When my dessert came out I was blown again. It was served in an ice Dish I never had it served like that. I was expecting a nice square piece of cake. It was completely covered in cream and I didn’t taste rarely any lady fingers or coffee liqueur. They did put in a lot of mini chocolate chips. Overall I give this place 2 mostly for the magherita pizza and the ambience. I’ll give it another try.

Full Disclosure: I have paid for quite a few meals with Lira, so my expectations for Italian food are very high. I also live close to I really wanted to like this place, especially after the warm greeting from the owner and seeing the gluten free alternatives for my GFGF, but they dropped the ball in too many ways. The bread had a leathery crust and over dense crumb, and the olive oil was supermarket grade. I only ate half of a slice. My chicken saltimbocca was unevenly cooked, tough at the edges but good in the center. It was $ 21, and I’m used to $ 19 for exquisite veal saltimbocca. The grilled potatoes may have been sitting too long, dry on the outside and too soft inside. [Italians do eat potatoes but mostly in the Alto Adige region that was once part of Austria]. My GF’s broccoli had a weird chemical taste, they replaced it with nice fresh Swiss chard. Her salmon was fresh, but cooked a bit past flaky. I had been enjoying the house pinot grigio, but found when the check arrived that I had been served the upscale vintage. Sorry, but I can’t award any points on quality or value. I have definitely had better, even in the burbs — also see Christina’s in Wheaton. Pollice Verso.

Amici Miei is an Italian restaurant located inside the Potomac Woods Plaza. They offer a brunch, lunch, dinner, as well as HH specials, including items such as filled baguettes, soups, salads, bruschetta, pastas, sauteed veal liver, chicken piccata, etc. A group of us came here to have dinner, and we started off with the following: Meat Balls in Tomato Sauce(served over polenta with some sauteed baby spinach and shaved pecorino romano cheese; the meatballs were slightly soft, but had good flavor, and I appreciated the smaller sizes of these); the Grilled Baby Octopus(served over some chickpeas, chickpea purée, and Taggiasca olives; the grilled octopus was slightly overdone, but good on its own; I wasn’t really a fan of the addition of the chickpeas); and, the Fried Calamari & Shrimp(these were lightly battered, crispy, and actually pretty tasty; I was a fan of the marinara sauce, as it was slightly thicker than the usual and seasoned pretty well! The shrimp are tail-on and not de-veined, though). For the main entrees, I had the Homemade Lasagna(I actually thought that this lasagna was quite delicious! It didn’t have multiple layers as others have stated, but it was deliciously filled with a generous amount of meat sauce that was seasoned perfectly; the pasta could have been a bit more al dente, but this baked lasagna was pretty tasty! Soft and delicate, this is probably one of the best lasagnas I’ve had at an Italian restaurant!), and the hubs had one of their specials, which was the Fettuccine with the Truffle cream sauce(with some cauliflower florets on top, the pasta itself had a very subtle hint of the truffle oil taste to it, but I thought it was just super bland; I think I would have preferred the usual fettuccine alfredo(that they don’t offer)). I also got to try the Artisanal Rigatoni(with Sunday sauce and pecorino cheese, filled with some chunks of slow-braised beef short ribs; the rigatoni was cooked well, but I wasn’t a fan of the Sunday sauce — it was a little too game-y for my taste and slightly a bit too tomato-heavy); and, the Veal Scaloppine(in Marsala wine sauce, topped with some roasted mushrooms, pistachios, and a side of soft polenta; the veal had a familiar taste to it — something along the lines of Beef & Broccoli-esque(in addition to the similar soft texture) — however, the taste was actually pretty okay; I didn’t taste any of the pistachios, and the polenta didn’t really add much to the veal). For desserts, I tried their Orange Crème Brulee(we were just NOT fans of this, as it was overcooked, and the ‘custard’ was actually more like scrambled eggs!!! It was cute that there a couple of slices of candied oranges on top for presentation, though), the Chocolate Chip Tiramisu(this came in a little sundae glass cup that was cute, topped with a little cookie on top; it was a little heavier on the whipped cream, so getting to the main ‘body’ of it was a little difficult in the narrow glass); and, the Poached Pears(the pear was a bit too hard and not ripened enough; the side of scoop ice cream didn’t complement, even being topped with whole walnuts). Complimentary bread was served with some olive oil at the beginning as well. The soda had an off taste to them, so I recommend in getting their cocktails, wine, or just stick with water instead. Our server, Roberto, was slightly aggressive(some may find it subtly rude), but overall, had a good sense of humor and made sure that everyone’s drinks were refilled and had the orders come out in an organized fashion. With a group of 20+, the evening went by without much of a hiccup, and everyone had a great time: D I’d love to come back for more of their lasagna! +Homemade Lasagna: D +Fried Calamari & Shrimp: D +efficient service +plenty of parking

If you want authentic Italian food this is the place to go! I came here on a Friday night around 7pm for a birthday celebration. It was about 22 of us and everything went seamlessly! I ordered the Artisenal Rigatoni which had braised short ribs and a tomato based sauce and it was YUMMY! The noodles were cooked al dente just like I like them, the dish as a whole was just really good. Several dishes were passed around and I have no complaints about any of them. Shrimp and Calamari was flash fried and very good. Poached Pear was unique and pretty darn tasty. The most unique dish that came my way was the Grilled Octopus with Chickpeas. I tried it and it was better than I anticipated. Personally I like my octopus fried BUT I’m all for trying something different. I was a little afraid that it would taste chewy and weird but I was pleasantly surprised. The octopus had a good char grilled flavored to it and the meat wasn’t overcooked thereby it was soft, tender, favorable. Tiramisu came in a dessert type glass and it was delicious! Meatballs and polenta was tasty. I noticed that they have happy hour Monday — Friday, 4pm — 6:30pm. I ordered a Apple Martini($ 12 not on happy hour) and it was so worth it! VERYGOOD! This restaurant is family friendly and everyone here was nice! Customer service was on point and so were the prices. Thank you!

Ciao amici! That means«Hello friends!» in Italian. The name of this restaurant Amici Miei means Italian friends. So this made it a perfect spot for a group of Unilocaler friends who got together to celebrate Mike B.‘s birthday. I liked the way the restaurant could accommodate a large party like us and even had a curtain that was closed for privacy. I was also impressed that most of the waiters were Italian, right down to the accent. I accidentally said«Hello beautiful! «to our male server, Roberto! I said it in my perfect Italian accent. He laughed along with the rest of us. Our server, Roberto, did a good job with such a large group. He told us about the specials and made sure appetizers and meals were served at the right moment. So, what did we eat? We started off the meal with meatballs in marinara sauce served over a bed of creamy polenta. Full of flavor with a rich tomato sauce, these were a big hit. Then, we tried grilled octopus over chick peas. To tell the truth, I tasted it by accident. I am not a fan of octopus, but this octopus was nicely grilled and very tender. My favorite appetizer was the fried calamari. It was lightly fried and included shrimp, as well as the calamari. It was crisp, fresh, and had a delicate marinara sauce. I was also a huge fan of the caesar salad. It had freshly shaved parmigiana cheese, crisp lettuce, and tasty dressing. The croutons were made out of fried cheese. Yes, you heard it right! It was amazing! I was sorry that I only ordered a half of salad. I am suggesting they make an appetizer, just out of that fried cheese. Heaven! Next, the entrees had some hits and some misses. I really liked the veal scallopini served over a bed of creamy polenta. It was tender, served with a savory rich sauce, and I am a big fan of polenta done well. This was creamy and rich and held its own next to the savory sauce. A miss for me was my dish, the eggplant parmigiana. It was not fried enough and the sauce didn’t have that rich tomato flavor. It also lacked enough cheese topping. Another hit was the special fettuccine with a sauce infused with truffle oil and bits of cauliflower. It was delicious. I scarfed down half of my sons dish and was looking for more. It was light, refreshing, and I really liked the truffle oil taste. It was rich, but not heavy. Perfect for a light Italian meal. Friends really liked the lasagna and gnocchi. I also heard the fish special was great. For dessert, my favorite dessert was the chocolate chip tiramisu. It was creamy, decadent, and had lots of chocolate chips. I was not a fan of the poached pear or orange crème brûlée. Now, that I have some experience in ordering, I would like to go back and enjoy the lasagna or fresh fish. It is great to know that this authentic Italian restaurant is close by in my neighborhood. So, «Grazie, Amici Miei! «.

Maybe a 2−½ stars… We used to frequent this restaurant for years in the past, ever since they opened it, and always consider it somewhat on the expensive side for the type of food, but the service was excellent and quality good. I recently had dinner at the restaurant. The service continues to be excellent; however, I still think it is overpriced, and in addition, the food I got was not even good. I happened to be there on a Monday, when wine bottles are half off. This seems to be a good deal, but the wine prices are quite high, and if you choose any priced somewhat reasonably, they are not that good. I got a caesar salad($ 9) and the gnocchi entrée($ 17). The latter was prepared with a pork and carrot broth, which was not only not a great idea for a sauce, but it was *extremely salty* to the point I could not finish the dish. I did mention this to the server, and he said he would let the kitchen know… With a half off bottle of wine(¾ of which I took home), salad, and entrée, tax and 18% tip, I spent $ 54. Not a good value, in my opinion, even with the wine deal.

What better way to celebrate a very special person’s birthday than breaking bread amongst Unilocally Friends? The Birthday Guy was adamant about Pasta for his extra special day, so viola Amici Miei was our destination & what a delicious adventure it was. Our group of 20, give & take, took up 2 tables of fun, fellowship & delicious food. Everyone ordered what their palate was craving & we shared as a rotating smörgåsbord. Just a few of the numerous nosh that was ordered: Meat Balls in tomato sauce over polenta, sautéed baby spinach& pecorino romano cheese, Fried Calamari & Shrimp(which was ordered at least 5 times), Grilled Baby Octopus over chickpeas, chickpea purée & Taggiasca olives & plenty of pasta creations like Fettuccine & Penne in Red Sauce. You have the choice of full or half portions as well as Gluten Free accommodations. From the sea, the delightful Salmon dish was grilled with a Salmoriglio(a condiment sauce of olive oil, garlic & seasonings) it was amazing, thank you Wendall for sharing! Our server had the best table & witty service with his outgoing & humorous demeanor, he really did a great job managing everyone’s order & taking«Bene» care of us all. The Owner Roberto was so generous with his effort to make sure everyone & everything was perfect. For my meal, I kept it simple & shared a generous plate of sautéed veggies that were seasoned to perfection with my friend, as she had a side of Soft Polenta & we devoured our food. The interior is exceptionally decorated with a vintage Italy theme, the bar is situated in the corner, with about 8 stools & a very extensive selection of spirits. There’s about 4 different revolutionized wine coolers throughout the front part of the restaurant, which gave guests the opportunity to view the many different wineries. As for their signature cocktails, they were unique & many variations on the table. I had the pleasure in meeting the Executive Chef, David before wrapping up, who assured me that the«white» bread was Vegan friendly. He offered me a few pieces & garlic oil to sample, so I was able to enjoy a little of the beginning nosh in the end. We all enjoyed ourselves coming together & celebrating Mike B.‘s birthday, what a wonderful time of fun, laughter, libations & enjoying authentic & high quality Italian food, GRAZE!

Amici Miei is an authentic Italian restaurant in Montgomery County. I wasn’t impressed with my past two visits to Amici Miei but I’m quite impressed with my third visit. The restaurant was lightly decorated with local artist’s artwork hanging on the wall. For appetizer, I tried the Grilled Baby Octopus. It was served over chickpea purée, chickpeas, taggiasca olives and seasoned with freshly sprinkled parsley and EVOO. I like how the octopus was tender(and not chewy) and had a nice chargrilled taste. For entrée, I ordered something off the menu for a change. I went with the Rockfish special, which was served over creamed potato and portobello mushroom and topped with crispy shredded leeks. I was satisfied with this dish. Grilled fish is the way to go! For dessert, I ordered the Orange Crème Brûlée. They said it was served warm but when I got it, it was chilled. I liked the orange flavor but it was weird that they garnished it with thin orange slices.

We love this wonderfully authentic place in Potomac MD and go there often. The owners are lovely — remember your name and aways make you feel like family! We used to drive here from Silver Spring, but since moved to Potomac and the the first thing that my husband said when we looked at our house was«if we move here, we will be closer to Amici’s». Food is dependably wonderful and the atmosphere is nice. I am from PA originally and miss the little Italian bistros that I grew up with. Amici’s brings me closer to home! We hope to enjoy many more meals there.

Just had dinner with a party of ten — all European«foodies.» Great service. Well presented and delicious food. The butternut squash soup was excellent — not loaded with heavy cream, the rockfish was cooked perfectly served with turnip purée and sautéed spinach and the tiramisu had just the right amount of sweetness. Highly recommend this restaurant. Definitely the best in Potomac!

called because our server was less than pleasant or understandable. The owner, who is freaking awesome!!, came over to try and describe to me what it was. So I took a chance. It was delicious!!! I wish I could give it 5 stars, but the server was super lame. That would usually cost a place 2 stars, but it’s Chanukah, and I’m feeling generous.

I love the lasagna here. It tastes awesome — layered with nice meat sauce and Bechamel sauce. It melts in your mouth — don’t even have to chew it that much. I order this dish whenever I dine there. My wife really enjoys the Spaghetti Chitarra. For appetizers, I like the grilled baby octopus and the Fried Calamari & Shrimp. The pizza’s are decent, not like Pizza CS, but it’s OK for a neighborhood restaurant. I like dining in their outdoor patio. The interior is pretty nice. Service has always been good and consistent.

Started off with the pork bell and the quattro formaggi pizza. The pork belly was perfect; the fat on it melted in your mouth and had lots of flavor. I enjoyed the white pizza, but it could have used more cheese and maybe more oil, lol. Life of a fatty… Next time I ‘ll get double cheese! For the main course, we split the seafood linguini special and saltimbocca alla romana. I wasn’t impressed with either, but they were alright. I should have ordered another appetizer rather than the mushroom sides– not worth it at all… The saltimbocca was a little better in my opinion. The linguini was very bland. Our waiter was very helpful in explaining the taste of certain items on the menu and attended to us often.
