I brought in a bunch of rusty screws and boots for a truck restore. Tacoma Screw matched them exactly with shiny new parts. Thanks!

A few years ago I went to Tacoma Screw to buy some hardware and found it to be overpriced, so I didn’t make a purchase. Yesterday, I was in the area and needed a simple HSS Jobber bit, size 23/32″ so I thought I’ll just pick one up there. The guy went back and retrieved an american made item that seemed appropriate but then hit me with a $ 42 and change price. I really couldn’t believe I had heard him correctly but he insisted. I told him that I had bought a larger US made bit recently for about $ 25. He said, «NOTHERE». I said forget it. I drove to W.C. Winks Hardware and bought a high quality Norseman bit for $ 25 and change. Tacoma Screw lives up to their name and is simply a huge rip off, which is exactly the conclusion I came to previously. Shop here if you want to get screwed. If you don’t believe this review, just call them and price a drill bit for yourself. As a matter of fact, I would totally call them and price your item before wasting your time going there.

MADEINUSA! They have a lot of it. You can find most tools you need made in the US here. That’s a big plus in my book as I depend on my tools, drill bits, etc. for my living. Chinese steel chinks the work & causes you to take much more time than if you’d have had real tools in the first place. If you work on ordinance grade steel like I do, you know US& German steel beats soft, round-your-nuts-out-Chinese steel by leaps & bounds. Pretty good prices on raw materials too for not being a metal shop. A 3’x5/8″ brass rod cost me $ 16.00 as opposed to over $ 50.00 for the same rod at Parkrose hardware.

They do have A lot of stock here but there a little too spendy for my taste. However if my job is paying for the product it’s A-OK!

This place is a lifesaver. I will definitely come here again the next time I need an unusual fastener or tool that would be impossible to find anywhere else. On a recent visit they hooked me up with some oddball large socket cap screws I needed for a Ford V8 crank pulley… I had been all over town looking for such a fastener and was starting to think I’d have to special order them. I had just came from a competitor which was equally helpful, but do to being geared more towards the commercial customer, could only sell me the item I needed in a bag of 50 to the tune of something like 40 bucks. I was ready to give up when I passed this place on the way home and decided to stop. I was impressed how friendly and helpful they were even though I only needed to purchase 4 inexpensive bolts. I would say that Tacoma Screw is definitely an asset to the DIY’er as well as the professional.

So, you say you need an oddball screw, bolt, nut, or fastener of some sort? Let’s just say that if they don’t have it here, it probably doesn’t exist. They exist mostly to supply the construction/building trades with product, but they are also happy to help«private citizens» find what they’re looking for, even if it’s just a single screw. They have a slightly odd«take a number» method of service, but since most of their product lives in the back of the store, and they have to get it for you, it makes sense. A great place to know about.
