The service was good in the restaurant, and the food was what one would get at any McMenamins. Overall, a nice location. However, the woman at the front counter/bar who was responsible for movie ticket sales was very rude. I understand we can’t all have great days, but when you are in customer service, unfortunately you need to leave your personal problems at home.

(Not to be confused with St Johns Twin Cinema!) This is a great little theater, and who can go wrong with a Rubinator and Cajun tots! I’d definitely recommend the theater for a low key night out.

Very cool location. Just normal bar food. Had to go downstairs to order food and get drinks. Tatertots were good.

This theater is a hidden gem, none of the Portland huddle bustle. This a local low key small town feel theater. Food(pizza) and drinks are local as it gets. I give three thumbs up to the vegi. Pizza. You won’t be disappointed eating dinner here. The seats are awesome for a theater at this price point. After seeing The Marian in the small upstairs theaters, I am a convert to the St Johns theater. Come to feel the old Portland feel of this St Johns theater.

Just moved to St Johns and stumbled on this awesome little neighborhood spot! Great food, friendly staff and they have a movie theater! If you haven’t check it out yet, I highly suggest you do!

One of the best outdoor seating areas in Portland: fire pit, picnic benches and interesting art pieces with great landscaping! Food is pretty basic, but great prices for happy hour(3 – 6) and friendly service, but only when they’re in the mood. More than a few food screw ups here so don’t be expecting prompt fine dining, but overall the ambience makes up for everything else imo.

Couldn’t ask for a better lunch. We ordered a bowl of the OctoberFest soup, a corned beef and cabbage celebration, the soup had a heavenly smokey flavor and was as good as any soup I have ever had. Next we had the salmon tacos, not only was there more than enough for our appetite, they were fantastic. We also ordered the«small» fries, we’re taking some home, they are the best on the west coast. I forgot to mention the condiments, you won’t find any better anywhere! All this food, lunch with my beautiful wife, and a great atmosphere for only $ 19. We will return!

This is my comfy place go-to, and not just due to the food. The ambience is as warm and inviting as the staff, and the food and drinks flow quickly and plentiful. They’ve had a few kitchen staff changes lately, as well as battling some theft and vandalism, but you’d never know it. If you haven’t seen a movie here yet, go! Reasonably priced first run movies, with food and drink service, in a unique theater that’s as cozy as the rest of the establishment. What’s not to love?

Decent food, average service. I got the Portland dip sandwich, it was delicious and flavorful with their au jus. However the side salad came with a side of balsamic vinegar«dressing» which looked and tasted more like a sour paste… And our waitress was just a little checked out, she looked stressed the entire time, rushed us to order and then rushed us to pay. 2.5 stars would be fair, not sure if I would be back.

I very rarely write negative reviews, and part of me does like this pub, but having just bought tickets online for the theater, and then driving 20 minutes in 100 degree heat only to be told our transaction didn’t go through and there were no tickets left, makes me grumpy.(According to the website, the transaction went through). We were told without apology that«that happens sometimes.» Really, really not acceptable.

The sad thing is it’s not really a new theatre, it’s the same theatre with the same screen and same projection system now charging more than double for tickets just to show first run movies. For first run price it’s a better experience at a first run theatre. Being able to lounge around was nice. I will forever miss the old theatre. :(

To start, the food is pretty expensive for not that great of quality. Secondly, if you are hungry do not come here. We waited over an hour for our food! The waiter did bring us some spinach dip for the wait but he should of kept it coming. I will not be coming back here.

And McMenamins strikes again with the worst service of any restaurant/bar in the city. I won’t bore you with the details because I’m sure you’ve all experienced it. At this point I am convinced that they purposely hire the laziest, most incompetent staff that they can possibly find. How hard is it to make a whiskey coke or put in an order for tots? Dang, get it together people!

I really enjoy coming here. The happy hour menu is awesome– the Cajun tots are to die for. Very pub feel, and a movie theater is also attached if you’re in the mood for a show.

Very cool little pub in downtown St.Johns. Nice large patio with fire pit. Small bar but cozy seating both upstairs and down. Friendly staff. We came for Hammerhead’s 29th bday & had the hammerhead beer potato cheese soup which was excellent

I’ve never been a big fan of the food at McMenamin’s. I’ve always felt that it can be pretty hit or miss if you don’t go with a burger. I do really like having a McMenamin’s with a theatre near my house though. My husband and I love watching The Walking Dead here. We often split a burger and a big salad. The staff is always friendly, even with the big crowds and long lines. When the weather is nice the outdoor seating is great. Although the patio area is small, it’s nice and cozy rather than cramped. It’s great for lunch with the family(dog included).

Blackberry cider. Nothing really wows me anymore from McMenamins besides their neat, one of a kind paintings. Known for their real estate, affordable movies, european like stays and brews all around time, a Portlander can sometimes take McMenamins for granted. With that said, I was blown away by the blackberry cider. When everyone else around town is sticking with hard apple cider, McMenamins concocts an awesomely sweet brew from the thickets that dot their many properties. St. Johns Theater & Pub is a haven in St. Johns offering a relaxing and hidden patio that other business envy. Grab a pint and tots and cozy on a picnic bench in this hideaway.

5 stars, yes I’m giving my neighborhood Mcmenamins 5 stars! Why you might ask? Because it’s a chill, come as your are, very Portland, type place. I can go in a dress, or cut off sweats & I still feel at home. And yes, I’ve went here in both. Seat yourself here. The place is small enough, they’ll notice you. Outside is also great during the nice summer days. Their burgers are AMAZING… and I never eat burgers. Give it a try, don’t forget to order some tots!
