My girlfriend told me about Southern Belles and so I had to try it! Since my first experience at SB, we have made it part of our weekly routine to get their soups and sometimes their Angus burger! Everything here is made with so much love and Darlotte a

Meh. Don’t get it. Been there twice, both times average food. The gal working is rude. Totally the reason I won’t go back. I’d suggest any other cart in the lot.

I really love their burger, but please don’t ever expect them to be open when they say they will be open. Their posted hours are not reliable and they seem to open only when they feel like it. I can’t count the number of times I would have bought their food, but had to go some place else because they were closed when they say they’re open. I’m guessing this business is not long for this world unless the owner is just so rich that they don’t need customers. Despite loving this place, I have to give them only 2 stars for their ignorance of the clock. It must be nice to not need money.

The lady was very nice and the ambiance of the fixin to back yard and drinks are awesome, but we were so disappointed by the burgers. Everyone else has said they are amazing, but our experience was the burgers were completely over cooked. And the buns were grilled to dryness. I wanted to love this place because: 1. I’m from the south 2. I live 2 blocks away 3. I was dying for a big juicy burger after a hard days work in the garden. Please let us know if this was a fluke or if grilling practices change. We would love an awesome burger place nearby!

Hands down, this is the best burger in St Johns! I had the Bacon Bleu,(Great Bleu Flavor). My wife had the Chevve Bacon with Jalapeños. The size and the fact that the burgers are Char-Broiled already make them worth the $ 9.00 price. You do get Chips with the meal. We also enjoyed the Brewed Sweet Tea. Didn’t get the Girl’s name, but I did let her know what I said at the start of this review. Will be trying the South Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich next! Yum!

Oh man, I so wanted to like this place more than I did. I read the rave reviews about their burgers and made a beeline for it. The girl working there was absolutely lovely and kind. I had a taste of their copper pennies and they didn’t blow my mind, as I hoped they would given the reviews here. And the burger — I got the chevre bacon burger — was a disappointment. The meat was the problem. It was overcooked to the point of being charred, dry, and so did not melt in my mouth. Granted, I’m a burger snob. Favorite burgers in Portland are Gruner’s, Castagna, White Owl Social Club and Yakuza. I don’t get the fuss about Helvetia Tavern, Slow Bar’s burger doesn’t blow me away, so maybe I’m picky. I like the Kuza Burger they’re turning out in the parking lot near The Colony, but it only seems to be open once in a blue moon, leaving us here in St. Johns desperate for a good steady consistent burger solution. If they just fattened up that burger a bit, improved the quality of the meat, went a bit more on the rare side, we’d be cooking with gas. I’ll go back one more time, try a different burger in a different mood at a different time of day and hope to add another star onto this A-OK place.

This place is great. It is our favorite burger in the hood and the copper pennies are amazing. We love grabbing a bite while having beers on the Fixin To porch.

Holy Mother! This is by far the best place my husband and I have ever had a burger at. Local produce, meat and buns. Awesome customer service, such a sweet lady. Super good lime refresher too. You won’t be bummed eating here.

Went for their soup, came back for their burgers. Best I’ve had in St. Johns! We love the ladies and everything they make. But try their burgers!

The owners were SO nice and we had a great conversation with them. My husband and I each ordered sandwiches — I got the egg salad and he got the roast beef. We also split a cup of the cheeseburger chowdah. All of it was fresh and delicious. If in the area, we’ll definitely make a return trip!

Today was a good day! The reason… I was introduced to Darlotte and Nancy, the Southern Belles. They took such good care of me and feed my stomach and soul. I sampled almost everything that was cooking and it was all delicious. I finally decided on the slow smoked pulled pork sandwich($ 6) which rivaled any that I have eaten in PDX. The quart of Brunswick stew($ 9) is for dinner and I am really looking forward to it. I am almost certain that I will be a regular for both the food and conversation provided by the Southern Belles.

This place is awesome. I called yesterday hoping they had chicken noodle soup, it was not on the menu that day but they had some stored away which they happily heated up for me which i greatly appreciated being very sick at the time. Also picked up a pulled pork sandwich which was great. They are the nicest ladies and the food is excellent and being from the south i feel right at home with the food and hospitality.

What great soups. I have had two different soups from here now and both were fantastic. I plan to make them a regular. The beer cheese soup was excellent though I prefer mine to be a bit thicker. The taste, though, was«beerlicous» The cheeseburger chowder is definitely worth the drive out to the St. Johns area. Note, they are moving from their current location to the Fixin’ To parking lot over Thanksgiving.

Awesome food cart with authentic southern food served by the nicest ladies. My husband is from Winston Salem and can be really picky about barbecue. He loved their pulled pork and the butternut squash soup. Can’t wait to go back for more!

St John’s is in serious need of more food carts and that’s just one of the reasons I’m so excited about the Southern Belles! Just next to the St John’s library, this cart features vegetarian and omnivorous soups and sandwiches with a Southern bent. Their sweet iced tea is amazing — I like mine half-half — a perfect balance! Generous samples are happily handed out and within reason, your order can be customized however you want it. With lunch and dinner options and a rotating menu of home-made soups, I’ve never had anything less than delicious! You gotta try this place — support food carts in St Johns!

Resurrecting the old Anya’s Thai space is newcomer Southern Belles food cart. Nancy and Darlette are genuinely enthusiastic and warm women serving up yummy soups and sandwiches with a Southern bent. They are friendly and very open to feedback and suggestions and more than willing to give you a wee taste of whatever’s on the menu to help you make up your mind. Thinking of the menu, I can’t link to it here, but you should check out their Facebook page for the latest menu since it changes daily(Google is your friend). I’m a huge fan so far of their Chicken Noodle soup and Cheesburg Chowda, and for some reason, I can’t stay away from their egg salad sandwich. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Southern cart if they didn’t have killer sweet tea(free refills!). If unsweet tea or salad is your thing, they have that, too. What have you. If you’re in the area, I would highly recommend checking them out and supporting a local eatery which is crazy excited about the community. I’m looking forward to see what they come up with next.
