After eating at many Thai carts in Portland I found it odd that they were ALL very good, then I found the exception to the rule. Admittedly, I have only been to Sila Thai once, but thats cool I’m not going back. The Massaman Curry I ordered was definitely plentiful and hot but thats all the nice things I have to say about it. It was absolutely flavorless and the potatoes and carrots were not cooked through, who likes partially raw potatoes? There was also very little chicken in the dish. With all the other Thai carts around this place will not be missed.

I love everything I’ve eaten off their menu! The Thai fried rice with chicken is my favorite! And their salad rolls have the perfect blend of ingredients. AND their Thai tea is Devine! I would go here over any sit down Thai place in town! I can’t say enough good things about the food and the service I get here every single time!

In a city with hundreds of food carts, this place in my opinion sets the model. We went to the SEMLK pods on a Saturday afternoon and there were only three open: this one, another Thai one, and a burrito truck. That’s one big plus right there — being open when no one else will. The menu was big and almost everything was $ 7. You could get your choice of curry(i.e. red, yellow, green) with your choice of meat(i.e. chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp though shrimp was +75 cents) and your choice of specialty addition(i.e. pumpkin, mango, peach etc) and they came with white or brown rice. Or you could get a big bowl of soup, a noodle dish, or others. I got the peach red curry with beef & was actually surprised by how big the container of curry was. I’ve been to places that charge $ 10 – 12 for something half the size and that’s even without rice. This was $ 7 with everything included. While the beef wasn’t prime rib or angus… no complaints at all for $ 7. The curry was delicious, with a slight kick and not too sweet or salty. The peach complemented the sauce perfectly. Since I was hungry, I also ordered veggie spring rolls, they were MASSIVE, just how I like them(all veggies and tofu, no noodles) and 2 for $ 3. I’m not sure how they get away with having such low prices for the amount of food! Service was quick and friendly especially considering how many of us there were. The SEMLK carts have a couple of seating areas that makes them good for groups.

Thank you for offering great vegan options! Your food is delicious, and we really appreciate that you have special curry to make it vegan.

Friendly, hyped up the food, but it was just ok. I’ve had better Thai food. It was on the bland side, and the beef was tough like jerky.

I’m going to assume I didn’t order the right thing, because my food was ho hum and unmemorable. I’m not sure what all the raves are about. My go-to litmus test for any Thai place is their Thai basil, or whatever the joint calls their version of veggies and meat stir-fried with basil. I had this one with chicken. I asked the owner about spice level, and he said, «it comes medium hot, white dude spicy.» That sounds perfect for me. Sadly, it came with almost no heat at all. He gave me some sriracha sauce to amp up the taste, but that wasn’t the flavor profile I was going for. It also came with only three, tiny, sad little basil leaves. Not enough to impart the big basil punch I order Thai food for. The chicken was tender. A big plus for offering brown rice. Theirs is nutty and cooked perfectly. It looks like prices may have increased since prior reviews. Entrees are $ 7 and Thai iced tea is $ 1.50. Still a good food value. I’d probably give them another shot and try curry.

My friends showed me this food truck and their hype was well justified. The service is perfect. The food is extremely fresh, lots of veggies! And I am addicted to their Thai iced tea which is only $ 1 by the way! I have dreams about their crab rangoons. Try them out, you’ll crave everything too :)

Love this place! Ridiculously inexpensive, fresh veggies, and a kind smile everyday as she melts over that hot grill! I’m a huge peanut sauce and Thai iced tea gal… :) And the pineapple fried rice is delicious! Enjoy! And buy local! :)

Ordered a fried noodle, a mango curry and two ice tea. All came down to very reasonable and fed two of us plenty! Their ingredients were fresh and spices were not toned down. Also the service was great, we were recommended a mango curry b/c it is in season. Oh my oh my! It knocked my sock off! They deserve 5 stars. Highly recommended if they are open.

I got the pumpkin curry. The sauce was amazing and I appreciated the huge chunks of pumpkin! I was disappointed at how the veggies were undercooked. However, the portion size was large and the price was very reasonable at $ 6. There is an option of brown rice.

The pods were rearranged so they’re on the North end now. They don’t have the front porch anymore. I can’t recommend this place more. The Thai food is spot on, especially the curry dishes. My favorite is the avocado curry. I’ve always been greeted with friendly service and delicious food. Definitely check them out!

The owner is polite and efficient. I have been here twice and have had amazing and fresh food each time. The menu is large and everything on the entrees list is $ 6 which cant be beat. The only downside is that it is cold in the winter when waiting for the food :(. I had the pumpkin curry and the pad kee mao. Both were great and I left full.

I have been to this food cart twice and I really want to give it 5 stars for many reasons, but i’m giving it 4 for now, because the second time I went something tasted a little off in my Pad Kee Mao. It wasn’t horrible, but just not as delicious and yummy as the first time I had it. The first time my beloved Pad Kee Mao was off the charts. This was by far the best I had ever had. And for $ 6, it was steal. I was even able to make it two meals! Plus, the food cart is opener later than most and pretty close to my house. The lady running it is super sweet and there is a little couch on the porch to sit at while you wait. I had the Thai Iced tea for $ 1 dollar and it was deliciously sweet! I’m returning to Sila as soon as I can for some Pad Kee Mao and hoping I will be able to change my stars to 5!

Probably the best deal for Thai in Portland. $ 6 for all entrees, and they’re usually enough food for two meals. Plus $ 1 Thai iced tea! The mango curry is awesome, especially if you like a lot of curry. In fact, if I’m critical, I’ll say they’re too heavy on the sauce and light on the veggies/meat, but it suits me just fine.

Heard a lot about this food cart over on the east side. Went there last weekend and boy their menu is long… was kind of in a hurry, so ordered the special of the day(spicy mango with basil and chicken and jasmine rice). It was hot and spicy and the mangos nicely balanced the taste. Also it is a LOT of food for the price. The owner is super nice, and I’m going to be back and this time go with time in hand so I can actually read the whole menu. it all looked so good.

Went off my usual pad Thai and got the pad ki mah and it is so good! Noodles cooked perfect, shrimp are decent sized, spice was perfect for me. Really generous portion for $ 6.

9pm, Monday. None of the food cart pods were open except for Sila Thai. Moon, the chef/owner is a hard-working business woman that understands the hustle – working when everyone else closes up shop, even on this rain-soaked evening. Reminds me of my immigrant parents who worked long hours and sacrificed much for a better life. And it seems to be paying off with perfect 5 star reviews and a healthy bottom line – upon asking, she says she’s doing very well. And obviously she is, as the other reviewers stated, this Thai place is indeed a value. $ 6 for a freshly prepared meal from homemade sauces and spice mixes. I chatted with her this evening and she gave me a complimentary Thai tea. She is a sweet lady and I will definitely be back for more, since the pumpkin stir fry and red curry I ordered were well-seasoned and flavorful with just enough spice. And brown rice is no additional charge – who does that nowadays? If you’re looking for a cheap wholesome meal made with care and love, come here.

Have been coming to this place since they first opened, I followed the owners from when they worked at «I like Thai food» cart on 10th and alder. It used to be my favorite cart and all of a sudden one day their food was just horrible and I couldn’t figure out why, then I realized two very important people left to start their own cart: Sila Thai This is not just the best Thai food for your buck, but the best tasting Thai food that also happens to be one of the most reasonably priced! Almost all dishes are 6 $ If it’s your first time here I suggest you try the pad Thai, personally I like it mild because the sauce flavor is so unique and you might just miss it with too much spice. Secondly you must try anything with their sweet chili sauce, there’s nothing like it and it’s home made like all their sauces! I suggest the salad rolls with it, even though I love it with peanut sauce traditionally they somehow make the sweet chili sauce so good that I prefer it :) Seriously the best Thai food Portland

Okay, after enjoying their khao soi, tasting their tom yum &(embarrassingly) eating an entire pumpkin curry in one sitting I’ve gotta update my review: Sila Thai is simply the best Thai food cart I’ve ever visited. If you’re looking for lunch be sure to arrive early(or late) to avoid the crowds!
