My favorite Thai spot in Portland. Everything from the small, informal space, the service and the food are perfect. It took me a while to order something besides the Khao Soy and/or Crab Pad Thai because of how delicious they are, but once I did, I saw that they offer so much more delicious dishes that are on point every time. Thank you!

Very authentic and reasonable price. We ordered tom yum noddle soup, kao soi, gang oom and pu pad karee. They were very delicious.

Both times I’ve been here, even before ordering, I’ve thought to myself, «man, I gotta come here more often.» This is because of their unique Thai food dishes that you just don’t find at every Thai restaurant. Both of the things I’ve ordered here have been delicious. It’s a very quaint restaurant that doubles as an even quainter Thai market. Service has always been solid. I can’t wait to go back.

As someone who is on a lifelong quest to re-experience the glory of Bangkok street food, I can confidently say that this place has the best Pad See Ew in Portland! So happy.

Looking for a new Thai restaurant to try? Try, Tarad Thai Market — — It won’t disappoint. My friend and I came here a few nights ago on a Saturday evening. It was fairly empty when we arrived, but quickly filled up during our hour visit. The food is fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Normally I get a noodle dish, but decided to try one of the soups(with noodles). I had the Tom Yum Noodle Soup with wide egg noodles and it was delicious. I tried my friend’s noodle dish and it was just as tasty. I enjoyed my dish so much that I wanted to order the same dish take-out the next evening, but unfortunately, they are closed on Sunday’s. Looking forward to going back, soon.

You have a couple choices for a killer Thai dinner on Friday night in PDX. You can wait FOREVER at Pok Pok or you can go here. Authentic Thai at decent price and no wait. Ambiance is just right and they are open late for those cravings. Probably the best Tom Yum noodle soup in town. We always want to try the pork buns but they run out. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

I didn’t catch the name, but the chicken noodle soup dish is fantastic. It has a rich broth with two fall-off-the-bone tender chicken legs and your choice of noodles. If I hadn’t been with colleagues, I would have picked the bowl up and drank the last broth remnants. Lip smacking good!

If I made some really bad life choices and ended up on death row, the khao soi gai would definitely be my requested last meal. Oh and also a side of the gyozas. And also maybe the tum yum soup. I mean, basically everything on the menu is amazing. That khao soi gai though…

The food was great. I had Pad Se Ew and it was delicious. They also have glass bottled coke and I thought that was nice. The iced water was served in cute tin cups and the service was great. Downside is not a lot of indoor seating and the bathroom is really dirty. I would definitely come back though on a nice day and eat outside or maybe order out!

Love the place. My first time there this past Friday and I was very pleased. The Tom kha was great! And the dipping sauce dish is fun and good to share with a group. Overall, I’ll be back again and again

The Gaeng Oam is delicious — such a great broth! Served in a traditional clay pot over fire. Friendly service, fairly fast cooking, very few tables during lunch hours so there may be a delay to get seated. Highly recommended. Pretty cheap for good quality food. Dishes $ 10 – 12.

Decent choice for lunch near the office. I need to try more of their options, but the salad rolls and pad kee mao are all right. The salad rolls are very basic, but I still like the freshness. The pad kee mao borders on being too salty, but I’d rather have more flavor than less. The food takes a little longer than I’m used to at other Thai restaurants, but it isn’t too bad.

My plate, the cashew dish with tofu; was way too salty and tiny. My girlfriend’s the coconut soup with chicken was good but was really watery. The server was pretty rude too. I ‘m surprised to see such good reviews on this site.

It seems that this lovely little place has had the same let down that you often see with a new Thai place. It starts out really authentic with great spicy food and then heads south as it gets established. I don’t know if this is because most people are not like me and therefore cannot handle truly spicy Thai food or what but it is a pattern that I have noticed. I took some family here after ranting on about how good and authentic it was. I was really, really disappointed to find that the dishes had been toned down and made sweet instead of spicy. Oh well, I guess I will just have to keep trying new places.

A nice little Thai place. Don’t let the word«market» fool you… it’s a legitimate sit-down restaurant, although they can probably only seat 30 people. There is a long communal style table in the middle of the room, and I think they have tables outside on the sidewalk during the summer. Beer and wine are available, including Singha, Tsing-Tao as well as a local Portland IPA. I had the Phad Kee Mow. It was a nice plate of wide rice noodles, with plenty of peppers, onions and pork. My vegetarian friend was happy with a curry tofu dish, although it was a little more soupy than he was hoping for. There aren’t as many menu items as you might typically find at a Thai restaurant, but the ones the have seem solid and well thought out. There are a few shelves containing Thai sauces, spices and other ingredients, hence the word«Market» in their name!

Best. Pad. Thai. EVER. I consider myself a connoisseur of pad Thai and read up that this place apparently has the best pad Thai in Portland so it would have been really irresponsible of me to NOT go and clean off a plate of pad Thai. You can definitely tell it’s all made to order. The server was so nice and helpful as well. They nailed it with the sauce, not too sweet, not too salty or spicy. Just perfect. Often pad Thai is a large mound of super sweet, greasy noodles that form into a brick inside of your stomach that lingers for hours. This pad Thai left me feeling the perfect amount of full and not gross. This will be my go-to Thai in Portland! PS. Just read the Wilamette Weekly and they said this was the best pad Thai in town as well. I’m so glad we agree

A fantastic little Thai joint. There’s only a couple tables outside, but if you can snag one on a warm summer’s day, it’s perfect. The pork buns are stuffed with quail eggs — a first that I’ve seen — which are utterly delicious and different enough to stick in my mind even after a few weeks. They also have adorable water cups that resemble what a bunch of scouts would have sitting around a campfire. What else? The Thai iced tea is damn good. So is the Pad Thai. Not to mention the fact that the staff are as warm and friendly as it gets.

Tarad rad boom dee ay! Go here now before it gets lines out the door. It’s authentic-as-they-can-make-it for Portlanders thai. Much different than your standard even excellent thai joint. AND cheaper and friendlier than Pok Pok. We showed up around 8pm Friday night and were seated right away. Our server was super friendly and explained the dishes. We had the 2 specials– a lump crab pad thai, and a mushroom/shrimp Tom Yum soup. The soup came out in a terra cotta pot on top of a flaming terra cotta –what — brazier? it had tons of large shrimp, and that amazing lemon/chilies/magic broth. The pad thai had a huge pile of crab on top of delicious pad thai noodles with tiny dried shrimp. The whole dinner felt so decadent! They also sell Mama ramen noodles, 3 different kinds of soy sauce, prickly heat powder, and Parrot brand bar soap, and a few other Thai sundries, and produce.

I’m long over due for this review as I went there shortly after opening. It is a small place. I’m guessing 20 – 25 people max. It is also unusual in the fact that they sell Thai ingredients at great prices. I picked up two kinds of curry paste while there. Not a big selection of stuff but some good basics. On to the meal. The service was a little confusing as I waited at a table for service and then realized I needed to go the counter and place the order. No big deal. Once I ordered it came out quick. I ordered the Old Style Pad Thai and this is the description. 6. Pad Thai Bo-Raan(Old Style) Thin rice noodles, egg, bean sprouts, Fried onion, dried shrimp, preserved Radish and Garlic chives in Pad Thai sauce served with crushed peanuts and sliced lime. The fried onion, preserved radish, and dried shrimp are something you don’t normally see on Pad Thai. They were good additions to it. So much so that one of our Portland publications said it was the best in Portland. I’m talking about you(Chris Onstad at the Mercury) But don’t take our word for it. Try it. You’ll like it!

After hearing about and reading about Tarad it was time to make our way over to see if the food lived up to the hype. I think it did. We started out with the house made Pork Buns($ 7 for 3). Like all good buns they were stuffed with pork and a quail egg. They were ok. A bit spendy as there are places in town that have them for around a dollar a piece. For our main we shared the Gaeng Oam($ 12). Slow cooked pork in a gang om curry with galengal root, lemongrass, kaffir leaf and Thai herbs and topped with green onion and cilantro. This dish was very unique to me as I haven’t seen it anywhere else in town. It is also a unique way to serve it in a clay pot over a fire. Nice spice coming out of this dish, but I still used the green and red chilies that were on the table. I think they are doing Thai food well here.
