I’ve eaten sandwiches here probably half a dozen times. I’ve never been disappointed. These are big, hearty sandwiches – the kind that are sloppy to eat and require a lot of napkins. The bread is toasted(at least in the offerings I’ve tried). They’ve got a ham, brie, and apple sandwich that’s really good. The Cuban, while not a traditional Cuban, is tasty. Most recently I had the Hillbilly Pulled Pork. It was good. It’s not North Carolina pulled pork sandwich good, but for what it is it doesn’t disappoint. It came with a heaping mound of moist, delicious pork, a rather sweet barbecue sauce, and crunchy slaw for $ 6. Cheap and good. I’d eat that again!

One word YUMM!!! So good. My boyfriend & I both got the Hillbillie Pulled Pork & split some fries. I’m kind of picky when it comes to a pulled pork sandwich, but they nailed it! They were super nice & way fast!

seriously delicious. we actually didn’t have any of their sandwiches, but they had a tibetan chicken and hand cut noodles soup that was out of this world good(and cheap!). i would come back just for that.

Tried the Cuban sandwich here and it was good wish the sandwich would have had Swiss instead of provolone and it needed a little more mustard. But the place was super cute and they were very nice. I will try this place again but a different sandwich next time.

We tried the turkey and hot pastrami sandwiches, and sadly nothing registered as worth a return visit. Nice people and all but pretty ordinary sandwiches. Worth the price, but on with the quest for the ideal sandwich place.

$ 6 isn’t a bad deal going for the food carts these days for a sandwich— given that it’s actually a g-o-o-d sandwich. The meat(we tried the Cuban, and the Reuban… not b/c they rhymed with one another, although that would have RULED if we had thought of it at the time) was highly reminiscent of «Smart Choice» pressed luncheon-style meat… or should we say, meat glue? The kraut in the Rueben was remarkable in that its only detectable flavor was sweetness. There was slight crunchiness, the texture was just about right, but sweet? Really? No vinegar? No sour mesh? What’s up with the friggin’ Kraut @ Rockabillies? 2 stars for prompt, polite service. But if I am at least 85% certain I could make a tastier sandwich – and for significantly cheaper — just using random scraps in my fridge, than I am gonna get pretty stingy w/the review stars. We’ll have to come back and give this place another try sometime… as it is, the two«giant red star» items on their menus turned out to be surprising duds…

I can’t give this place 5 stars, only because I haven’t tried anything on the menu except the«Hillbilly Pulled Pork Sandwich». HOLYYUM!!! So so so so good! I want to try something else that they offer, including their desserts: deep fried oreos and deep fried twinkies.(Either of those may give me a heart attack on the spot, but they do sound like something I need to try.) It’s just that the«Hillbilly» alone is enough to leave me stuffed with more sandwich left over, so no room for dessert or any side dishes. Just writing this review has brought on a STRONG craving for the Hillbilly. That’s how delicious it is. Good thing I don’t live closer to them or I might weigh as much as their food cart. Mmm… pulled pork…

I ordered one of their most popular menu items(noted with a star on the menu), the«Hillbillie Pulled Pork» sandwich($ 6): their succulent pulled pork sandwich topped with BBQ sauce and tangy cole slaw on a pub bun. The BBQ sauce was delicious: a rich, sweet, and tangy sauce that complemented the the juicy, tender pulled pork. The creamy cole slaw, which could have possibly been too creamy for me if left on its own, brought everything together. And as a nice bonus, I got a perfectly grilled bun! It’s the little things such as a toasting or grilling the bun on a sandwich that can really elevate the dish to that next echelon. This was one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I’ve had. Perhaps the only thing I needed here would be some form of spicy source, whether it’d be sliced chiles(no, not the wimpy jalapenos… let’s go higher on the Scoville scale) or a spicy sauce. Rockabillies sells all sandwiches for $ 6, a killer deal! Another best-selling item is their Cuban sandwich(seasoned pork, ham, yellow mustard, pickles, and provolone cheese). For the lover of sweet and savory, the Elvis(peanut butter, banana, and bacon) may be your road to nirvana. Gotta try those next time!

been going to this foodcart pod for a while and never tried this place. for once my wife and i craved a hot sandwich, so we decided on Rockabillies. i had the«Cuban». i thought it was a great tasting sandwich. the pork was pretty good(Namu around the corner in the same pod has much better pulled pork) but in that sandwich it was pretty good. my wife ordered the«Basil Bomb» which has pesto, basil, Mozzarella, tomato. this one was very good. my wife has recently gone back, and she said it was just as good. overall it was a $ 6 hot pressed sandwich and it was quite good. i’d recomend it to friends, but only the«Basil Bomb»

The Cuban was excellent, with great pork and YELLOW mustard. So was the pulled pork sandwich. It had great BBQ sauce that didn’t overpower and the onboard coleslaw was tasty and cold! Loved it

I think it is under new ownership, but Rockabillies still rocks! I had fries from here the other day(super rad), and polished off my friends sandwich; i don’t remember what kind it was, but it was fantastic. the lady was really nice and friendly who worked there. I will def. return!

I wanted to check out a little of the Cart scene so I came to the Good Food Here Pod. Checked out all the available choices and decided to go with Rockabillies. I think I chose wisely!!! I got the Pulled Pork sandwich, a side of Parmesan & Black Pepper Fries and an order of fried Oreos! While I was waiting for my food, I went over and tried a beer from the cart that was set up in the middle of the pod. Pretty sweet you can drink a beer there. In no time my order was ready. It was a lot of food, more than i thought it would be… the girl who was working was so nice that she helped me carry what I couldn’t grab to the seating area. The Pulled Pork and Slaw sandwich was awesome! I’m sure someone from SC or TN could tell me otherwise… but i don’t care. Yummy is yummy! The fries were an awesome surprise as well… I couldn’t quit eating them. The fried Oreos… they were covered in batter and had some squirts of chocolate sauce on the outside… mmmmmm. so good! I would equate this to a chocolate oreo funnel cake ball. I’m so hooked! I’m probably going to get the same order the next time I go back!

Rockabillies absolutely rock! I’ve been there many times and the food is always excellent. Last time I went I had the pulled pork sandwich, and it was of the best ones I’ve ever had. Overall, good service, amazing food, good prices, and that’s what the food carts in Portland are all about!

Coming back a second time in the day to the 43rd& Belmont food pod, I decided to give the BLTT at Rockbillies a crack. The BLTT is a BLT plus turkey. I did like the grilled bread in the sandwich. I did not, however, like all the butter that the bread was soaked in. That combined with the overabundance of mayo made this a rather unpleasing sandwich. Also, the bacon was skimpy, skinny and not very crispy. And I can’t believe the guy that made my sandwich had the temerity to stick that wilted leaf of lettuce in my sandwich. On the other hand, the fried Oreo was an interesting and tasty treat. Deep frying an Oreo makes the Oreo expand and become softer and cake-like. A side of three fried Oreos, served with a squirt of Chocolate sauce, goes for $ 3.

Rockabillies moved to the Good Food Here pod on SE43rd and Belmont, and today was their first day open. I tried the Turkey Rancher — turkey panini with red onions, roasted red peppers, mayo and pepper jack. Good flavor all around. They have a whole assortment of sandwich choices along with some deep-fried snacks(cheese curds, twinkies, oreos). According to the conversation I overheard, though, they’re willing to deep-fry whatever you bring in.

If you’re not feeling man enough for the Big Ass Sandwiches down the street and Subway’s out of the question, head over here. The cart’s name doesn’t quite translate into the menu, save for the Rockin’ Reuben and Elvis(peanut butter, bananas and bacon) sandwiches and their selection of fried things(Twinkies, Oreos, pickles, fries and onion rings) and leopard print menu, but I dig what they’re going for. We got the Basil Bomb(minus salami) and the BLTT(Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato & Turkey) made up panini style, and were both happy with our sandwiches. They’re not slap your momma fantastic, but they’re tasty, well presented, and big but not scary big. These guys don’t scrimp on cheese or meat at all. The prices are standard, $ 6 for a sandwich, $ 3 for pretty much anything fried. I’m definitely going back, even if it’s just for a fried pickle run.
