I would have given these guys a five-star rating six months ago, but things have changed, my friends! I used to love love LOVE going here, and frequently ate here 2 or 3 times a week — this was MY food spot. Recently though, the woman I had come to know and love is gone, and the food is drastically different than before. The servings are laughable — the other day I barely had any chicken, and one lowly broccoli sprout in a steaming pile of cabbage. Not even a carrot to spare! It was still okay, but I won’t be going back unless I start seeing familiar faces there again. I now have to find a new Vietnamese cart! :(

All I have to say is that the first bite of my lemon chicken vermicelli bowl was absolutely amazing. The first bite was so flavorful that I would compare it to the blast of flavor you get from Bubalicious gum. This is probably the best vermicelli bowl that I’ve ever had. Literally every single bite of this dish was mouth watering. If this dish was that good, I can’t wait to try the other items on the menu. And with the average price being around $ 5 – 6, why the heck not.

It’s so hard for me to try something new… I was downtown on a soggy cold afternoon, and NEEDED soup. Without consulting Unilocal(gasp!) I tried this place on a whim. It was awesome! The phở was standard, $ 6 and dericious! Part of the fun is adding all of the sprouts, hot sauce, fish sauce, jalapenos, ect. Everything came separate and neatly packaged so I could do all of the fixings myself. Great cart.

Tasty broth indeed. I went for the chicken phở, and was disappointed in the lackluster taste and texture. I have come to expect the slow simmered, falling off the bone type of chicken. Otherwise, yummy! Will try the sammy next time :)

I like phở, it’s one of my favorite foods. And you know what, Phở Sam has some of the best in Portland. I love their broth. I can’t get enough. It has a deep, hearty beef flavor accented by chinese five spice and other savory, warm flavors. Phở Sam, a food cart, that serves phở and happens to be more satisfying that most places with a front door.

The latest Vietnamese cart to hit the 10th Ave block, Phở Sam came out swinging with the best Bahn Mi sandwiches on the block. You’ll pay a few pence more, but the long crispy sub bread and delectable fillings will make you forget the extra pennies. The Goi Cuon salad rolls are smaller than other stands, but tastier and filled with more green veggies and nice cuts of pork and shrimp, rather than rice noodle«filler.» Another great addition to the lunchtime loop.

I love me some phở and this cart dished out some of the best chicken phở that I’ have had in a long time. How often do you take the first bite in a dish and go «mmm, oh wow!» That’s what happened to me today. True story. They have beef and chicken to offer, but they also list Vietnamese sandiwiches, lemongrass, etc. The phở came to $ 5.95. The broth just rocked my world. Wow. Please, tell me you love it too and I didn’t just try them on a good day.
