…(continuing on from The Waffle Window review)…now this is a waffle recipe. Crisp, light, tasty on it’s own, and magnificent with any number of savory or sweet toppings. The brie, apple and prosciutto is out of this world. Good coffee, great location, great service, lovely outdoor patio, and wonderful value for the freshness and deliciousness of the(limited) menu.

I believe my waffle contained brie, apples, a little ham and a touch of the sublime. My friend had a nutella, whipped cream number that I was jealous of despite my plate of happiness. They know that some want savory, and some want sweet, and really you can’t go wrong either way. I wanted a mimosa to go with all this genius, but alas, I had just done yoga and had to be at work in mere hours. Next, time, I’m not going to hesitate.

When one thinks of tea, well, one being me, they usually don’t think about depth, levels or taste explosions. They usually think, again, the part of they is being played by me in this sentence, I don’t like coffee, so I will order tea instead. But they, you get the drift, will be surprised and delighted when they come to this little place with the fancy doohickeys over their a’s and discover the Lemongrass Green iced tea. It is… Amazing. Refreshing. Crisp. Deep. Pure. Dangerous. Complex. Effortless. Wondrous. Addicting. Seriously, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since I returned home to SF. A tea? Who would have thunk it. Clearly not«they» :)

Ok, first let me start off by saying I loved their unique take on waffles. The curry, asparagus, waffle dish was amazing. The fruit and cream that the S.O. had was also great. The coffee was also adequate… but the good news stops there. I’m not sure if it was just a horribly off day for them, perhaps the staff all had the worst hangover that they’d ever experienced, or perhaps they were all undead… I can’t say, but the service was far less than the 3-stars I am giving. Waiting 1.5+ hours for waffles, no matter the topping, is pretty inexcusable. Apparently they were having issues with the 2 waffle irons sticking and ripping the waffles apart. Why does a restaurant only have 2 irons, I mean… I have 50% of that count for my house. If it wasn’t for the quality of the food and its uniqueness I’d be giving them 1-star. We may give them another shot, just for the unique waffles… but the stars will have to be in alignment with no wait for a table.

Say it with me now: Yaw-Say Gaw-Say And now indulge with me: (Yaw-Say Gaw-Say, Yaw-Say Gaw-Say, Yaw-Say Gaw-Say…) He was apparently a French dare-devil hang glider… and the barista and I had a nice conversation on why such people(note: Evil Knievel) have the need to be all crazy, even with their name! I mean, why can’t you just be Bob the dare devil? Whateves… I enjoyed some delicious iced tea and conversation and allllllllmost indulged in a grilled cheese waffle, but the pine state biscuits that were being devoured in back were just too tempting to pass up. I would definitely come back again, bring my laptop, and enjoy an afternoon of iced tea and waffles on the patio.

Who doesn’t love waffles? Jace Gace does them up in strange and unusual ways like Huevos Rancheros and Sausage Gravy. I personally always get the yogurt and fruit because I am old school like that. It is always fresh fruit and so yummy. I also love that this restaurant is an art gallery. There is new art displayed each time I go.(granted I don’t go every week or anything)

Holy bat-sh*t! This has been a long time coming! I finally made it here with some friends this morning and I cannot believe it took this long to get me in the door. I mean, an art gallery and a waffle house? Come on, folks. Does it GET any better?(Oh yeah, they do have booze as well!) Again, does it GET any better? Tiramisu waffles rocked the house like Mickey Mouse! The orange juice was served in goblet-like glasses and was so yummy I had two glasses(and I am usually a one orange juice guy). I passed on it, but one of my friends had a couple mimosas – now THAT is the way to do it! Outdoor seating was plum in the sun!

I’ve been dying to try their waffles, but haven’t had the chance to yet so this review is based solely on the atmosphere and coffee! I LOVE Caffe Vita, coming from Seattle. This is the only place in Portland I have yet to discover Caffe Vita served at. Words cannot describe how blissfully happy I was to sip on my favorite Caffe Vtta iced vanilla latte during my summer away from Seattle. Service was a bit slow. for coffee … with us being the customers.

Come for happy hour! From 4 – 6 it’s $ 1 off waffles, $ 4 mimosas, and discounted beer. I had the fruit and cream waffle and a mimosa, and it was amazing. The art in the gallery space was cool, and I think they show movies there sometimes. I can’t think of a better place to have right around the corner!

I took my wife here for a birthday breakfast in January and loved it. We didn’t have to wait, but there were actually enough people that it was tricky to find a table for 3. The building appears to have been an auto mechanic garage in a former life, but the industrial feel is refreshing. My waffle, topped with heuvos rancheros, was off-the-charts delicious. My wife had the sampler waffle(can’t recall the name). The toppings, which included green apple, gouda, nuts, and prosciutto, were all surprisingly perfect on a waffle. The maple syrup on hers, however, was overpoweringly sweet and made it a little tough to eat. Other than the syrup, though, it was a great experience. We checked out the art gallery and she enjoyed some French pressed coffee(the only way they serve it) while we waited on our waffles.

YUM! This is so delicious(including the waffles) — I mean, how can you go wrong? Cute décor, outside seating for those sunny weekends, and tasty waffle-goodness. While the waffle batter is pretty standard belgian style, it’s all about the toppings — mine was apples, pineapple, and yogurt. Overall: Yum!

Little flavor and SLOW. Not impressed with Jace Gace. Was really excited for a waffle, but it made me quite sad when it finally arrived. And, I think I paid $ 6 for it. It wasn’t that much better than an Eggo. Service was unapologetically slow. I felt like my presence was an inconvenience to both the woman at the counter and the dude making my waffle. The American I ordered to accompany the waffle was good enough, but also took a long time. The local artist gallery is a great idea and certainly worth a star. If I return, it will probably be for a quick beer while I check out a new exhibit.

I simply don’t understand why this place is completely dead every time we go there. Last weekend, we gave up on Jam(30 – 40 minute wait) and headed over to Jace Gace. A few blocks away, and only two people in there. The waffles are awesome. I’ve had the huevos rancheros and sausage gravy & egg, and they’re both heavenly. The sweet ones I’ve tasted have been a little blander, so I stick with savory. And they play really, really good music in there. Devendra Banhart, Iron & Wine, rare Black Sabbath… Great stuff. I’d hate to see them go out of business, but at this rate, it seems inevitable.

Very trendy, clean, and sophisticated restaurant/art gallery. They serve WAFFLES with BEER, WINE, or COFFEE. I had their Huevos Rancheros Waffles and it was really good. Then my friend and I decided to order the fruit with cream waffle. Too bad, it was burnt on the bottom. I like the paintings at the gallery. It’s a small gallery, but it’s worth to check it out.

Ha, ha, ha! Coffee, beers and waffles, yeah! Portland rocks with it’s charming unique places and upstart businesses just like this one. The waffles are hot, fresh, and downright delish. Perfect, and not too«spendy», as Portlanders would say. I didn’t wash my waffle down with a beer, instead choosing a coffee beverage which was lovingly prepared, and came with latte art etched on top(and yes, it was very tasty). The art gallery is a nice use of space to showcase our fine local talents, and all in all this creative restaurant has hit the mark. Enjoy!

Serving up delicious and fun waffle combinations, date-a-rific pots of french pressed coffee in varying sizes — perfect for sharing or for going it alone — and a cute little art gallery, this place is what I would call an iconic Portland establishment. The savory huevos rancheros over a cornmeal waffle was pretty good, and definitely satisfying, but my fellow member of the Exploratory Urban Waffle Consumption Committee who was with me that night hit the jackpot ordering the tiramisu waffle. Three words: rum-espresso cream. Bliss. The vibe is fairly Backspace-y, sans live DJ and tree house. It’s what I would call PJ-chic. You could feasibly stroll in here wearing plaid flannel pants and a hoodie, and not feel completely out of place while ordering an $ 8 fancified vegan waffle and a beer. And — who would have thought? — this waffle-house-art-gallery has a HAPPYHOUR with $ 1 PBRs and 2 bucks off your waffle orders Wednesday & Thursday between 4−6pm. To me that’s less of a happy hour and more of a hump-day special, but eh. It’s still a good deal.

I am just about ready to add Waffle to my list of most-perfect foods, along with Panini, Crêpe and Burrito. Things I love about this place: *Saturday morning, 11am: no wait and the food got to us in about 10 minutes *Something on the menu to make the vegan, small child, and grandma in your party happy *Spacious and airy, nice light coming in the front windows and skylight, low-key art installation in the back, clean bathrooms *No complaining from small child; her mouth was too stuffed with whipped cream Why was this place so uncrowded at peak brunching hours? The waffles are creative and good and run about $ 7 or so each. My theory: no one knows what Jace Gace is or means. If they changed the name of this place to Waffles Topped With Yummy Things or something, I’d predict lines out the door.

I’ve been here twice and enjoyed it both times. It’s pretty low key and the various art shows were good. I had the huevos rancheros, eggs and black beans over waffles, talk about tasty! Add the additional pleasure of a cold beer along with a delicious dinner. I wonder if it will be super busy when the condos being built near by are finished.

Jace Gace just opened promoting its holy trinity of WAFFLES + BEER + ARTGALLERY. Naming the project after a French daredevil(its pronouned yay-say gay-say, FYI) who had an insatiable love for waffles, this café-cum-art gallery serves up good coffee and amazing waffles in the shadow of good art. It’s the newest guy on the block, with only a few weeks under its belt, so go check it out. Choose from sweet waffles or savory waffles(grilled cheese waffle with mustard? it actually sounds amazing to me), and eat up those treats in the cool ambiance of Jace Gace. Add their extended hours into the mix(7am-midnight with siesta inbetween) and it might be a new favorite SE haunt of mine. Yay jace gace! Welcome to the neighborhood!
