Cute place, very VERY hipster-esque. Minimal interior. Coffee was alright but would not come here if that’s what I wanted specifically. The barista was awesome. The wifi works great.

Charming place, charming staff — so quiet, eclectic, and low-key. Excellent cookies and pastries, passable drip coffee, decent espresso, daily soups to combat the Portland drizzle. Love the magazines and vibe. Good place to work for a bit when away from home or office(don’t forget to buy while you sit!)

Great coffee, great service, excellent baked goods and the largest slice of toast on earth. What more do you want?

This place is really cute and has some seriously delicious baked goods. Seems like a great place to get some coffee and study or read for a while. I tried some pistachio cake and it was dense and moist yet so light and not overly sweet.(Same goes for the frosting) A++, would eat again.

Cute little coffee shop. While the tables are these cold, stainless steel and there are metal chairs, the rest of the décor is warm, almost rustic and a bit kitschy. Random vintage items adorn the walls(a wave of plates on one, a line of thermoses, a small shelf of ice cream scoops, etc), but overall it comes together and works. Quick walk from my place, and I really like the baguette with butter and jam. It’s super simple, slightly decadent, and is executed with attention to detail. Jam is spread, edge-to-edge on a solid baguette, and they add length-wise slices of European style butter. Some might consider it a bit too rich, and want to split the order with a friend(there are two pieces of baguette), but I like it just the way it is. Quiet enough that I can stop in and get some work done on the laptop, as well as having some countertops that you can stand at.

I wish they had more non-dairy milk options besides rice and soy milk. Coconut or almond milk would be a plus. Parking is tricky, as it’s in a main street.

Oui Presse is really as good as it gets when it comes to cafes in Portland!!! Great coffee with great baristas. First off, they use Stumptown Coffee and you can’t go wrong there. The food quality, especially the pistachio cake, is to die for. Cream frosting. Oh man, I crave their cake! Especially now since pot is legal. The décor inside looks like you are in a café in Paris and what really makes the place stand out above all other cafes in Portland is it’s reading selection. Only the downtown Stumptown Coffee on SW3rd has a more diverse and rich reading selection outside of cafes imbedded in bookstores. Cool, hip SE Portland peeps with mostly MACs. I HIGHLY ;) recommend OUIPRESSE!

I live just a few blocks away, and have been very curious about this place for some time now. I decided to try it today and went in around 11 to avoid a morning rush. I ordered the soup of the day and café au lait, it cost about 10 $ all together. Over all, a little pricy for my budget, however I am gluten-free and there was not a lot of options besides the soup. The café au lait was served in a mini French press and I got 2 cups of coffee out of it, well worth the price for 4 ½ dollars. Service was speedy I received both my coffee and my soup in under three minutes. The establishment was very clean, quiet, and free Wi-Fi is a bonus! Although it was pleasant inside very nicely decorated and organized, I chose to enjoy my food and beverage outside. They had several small tables to sit out in the Wi-Fi connection was strong. The only thing about this establishment is that it is located on Hawthorne Boulevard, in a part of town that many transit and homeless individuals flock to. Because of this, there were at least a dozen who walked by while I was enjoying my stay. This does not bother me much, however, I can see it being unpleasant for others. I will be visiting this place again!

I am enamored with this coffee shop. From the cute décor, to the amazingly tasty baked goods, this is a place I just want to be in. I am a recent Portland transplant and this was one of the first local coffee shops I was introduced to. The staff are very friendly and made me feel welcome. First order of business was trying this euro pb&j sandwich that I had read about in other Unilocal reviews. It totally delivered in a unique way. On another trip, I tried a piece of espresso hazelnut coffee cake that was making eyes at me from the corner. There seems to always be some tauntingly good looking baked goods on the counter. The coffee cake was delicious and quite a hefty piece, so I had a snack for later. With the recent warm weather, I have been opting for an iced latte to drink and it has been spot on. Happy to be part of a neighborhood where a coffee shop like Oui Presse exists.

I had to find a place to sit for awhile and to take care of my tea craving. Oui Presse was the closest place. It’s a cute little café that has a nice looking menu. I got a pot of tea for $ 3.50 and got a nice spot at the front window for people watching. I kind of wish I didn’t eat beforehand or else I would have gotten their PB&J.

I rushed in here on my way to my Book Group to pick up a quick coffee. Great coffee and good service. Love the atmosphere which is laid back and cozy. The Latte I ordered was delicious and had just the right amount of foam on the top… not so much that I felt like I was being ripped-off, but not so little that I didn’t feel satisfied. I want to go back and try their PBJ.

I love Oui Presse! Every time I come in, something is new, even better. What does not change is the awesome coffee, great-feeling space, friendly and helpful baristas and delicious foods. I love the ever-changing soup options. The PB&J is insanely good but so decadent I can only order it once in a blue moon. But that does not mean I can’t dream about it. I love the staff here. They may take time to speak to customers, but isn’t that why we find ourselves in love with our local spots? I never feel ignored. The inside is cozy when it is cooler, the café tables outside the perfect spots as it gets warmer.

Met up with a colleague for an overdue coffee date. I decided to order the PB&J Royale everyone on Unilocal was raving about with an order of a french press. The bread is soft, fluffy, and melts perfectly which holds thinly sliced butter, fresh local strawberry jam, creamy peanut butter, and smoked grey salt. The salt adds a nice textural delight. The butter takes this classic sandwich to a higher level. In the end is it worth $ 5.00? I’m not quite convinced, but it’s worth a try for you to decide. The ambience was cute with the lights and cake stands holding desserts, the magazines for purchase adds whimsy, and the barista was kind in explaining their coffee menu to a new patron. If you’re looking for a cute, relaxing, place to drink coffee, give this gem on Hawthorne a try.

A main stay on this section of Hawthorne… serves up warm beverages and side of soup or desserts. They bake and cook in-house! It doubles as a news /magazine stand as well. And you can even but adorable hand knit bunny slippers; there’s a whole show case of them. Beautiful vintage glass plates and fountain shop ice cream scoops and thermos’ decorate the walls. All around cute.

What a charming little place! Even the people who work there dress in a French way! Wow! I absolutely loved my tea and the peanut butter and jelly sandwich on homemade bread, peanut butter, and jelly with fresh butter(salted with grey salt). Wow, was that AMAZING!!! It looks like a lot of locals go there, and I can see why! It’s a great and quiet place to study or read one of their many magazines(it’s a magazine store, as well). How fun!

A nice cosy coffee shop on Hawthorne, the décor is certainly different and starkingly empty compared to other coffee places on the east side. I was just checking out coffee places last sunday on Hawthorne and randomly picked three from Unilocal and tried them out. Had the Iced Mocha here, was good, again, I’m not a coffee connoisseur, so most coffee tastes good to me. Service was friendly, wifi was fast and free. Good place to go if you’ve work to catch up on.

Cute(kyoot) adjective adjective: cute; comparative adjective: cuter; superlative adjective: cutest 1. Attractive in a pretty or endearing way. 2. Sexually attractive. 3. Oui Presse. No, this is not a sleazy comment on the staff of Oui Presse. It’s about the whole deal. It’s pretty much the dictionary definition of this little coffee shop, bakery and dessert(ice cream/cake) shop on lower Hawthorne. It could be the silhouette paintings of a guy and a girl sipping coffee on the front windows, the Francophile name, the crocheted bunny slippers currently on offer at the front counter, the exquisitely stocked magazine rack in the back, the craftily placed art on the walls, the friendly(and cute) servers… even the wifi password! It could be any one of those things, but it’s all of them together that converge into an overall precious image of an adorable little café that makes me say ‘awwwww’ every time I walk in. Everything I’ve had here has been good. Tasty teas, nice coffee, and the occasional baked good. The sign out front commanding«Ice Cream Now!» on a 90+ degree day is tempting, but I’m still inclined to disobey that direct order. The small«Print is undead» sign above the New York Times rack makes me want to blow off the pile of work I have waiting on my laptop and kick back with a tactile read of yesterday’s news. The colorful large chalk drawing of a piece of cake on the back blackboard wall has me considering breaking diet. But the sense of duty and call of my laptop have me drinking a very fine iced tea and working away on the reliable internet signal instead. The environment is conducive to any endeavor — reading, meeting, writing, drawing, or a trip to Laptopistan. And at any given time, a little of each seems to be in progress here. In any case, you’l have plenty from the coffee, tea and drink menu to sustain you. Everything I’ve sampled is worthy. While it’s not my usual stomping ground due to location, I find it’s a great place to meet folks or simply post up for a work sesh if I have downtime in the area. You should find yourself there too.

Rainy day? Busy day? Need a quiet moment in the middle of the chaos? I’ve got just the Oui Presse for you. They know how to take your comfort snacks and somehow make them — and you — much more comfortable. Their chocolate chip cookies melt from the inside out. Their hot chocolate is unbelievably creamy and served in a little bowl(the better to drink you with, my dear). The PB& J is served with a thick slab of salted butter. You think you don’t want it, but just take a bite. You don’t even know. The space is bright and airy and simple, but I still find it welcoming and quiet and cozy. Move over, Coca Cola; in my book, Oui Presse is the pause that refreshes.
