Although the the little bit of food we got was good, that is all we got. A little. Very busy which is good for izzy’s but not for the customers. Had to sit and wait for food to roll out like everyone else so when it came it was gone again instantly. Didn’t plan on spending an hour and a half and having to lunge for dinner tonight. Two of the four of us just had to have salad.

Took the family for dinner — the salad bar seemed to be kept up pretty well however the hot food table was a sorry disaster — took forever for the food to be replaced when it ran out. Table was not kept up very well. The drink machine was a big mess with ice all over the place and spilled pop — basically no one had come back to attend to it in a very long time and the same with the dissert bar — chocolate syrup was completely gone and the ice cream machine could have used a little bit of tiding up. It seems that the Izzy of a few years back has gone down the tube and it now looks like no one really cares what the place looks like or if the customer is taken care of or not. Very very sad because it used to be a great place!

My friend and I arrived on New Years Eve at 8pm to eat. I don’t recall them bringing fresh food out the entire time we were there. No desert, we asked several times… bad service and some of the other customers were making us feel uncomfortable.

Yeah, this place used to have my favorite pizza and their cinnamon rolls were nearly as good as Cinnabons— fast forward a decade or two and to say they’ve gone downhill is quite the understatement. Went there today to escape the rain, thinking I’d get some atleast moderately decent fresh pizza, but there were basically scraps of some less-than-desirable choices. Salad bar is always good. Hot buffet was good, although the baked beans were«meh». Breadsticks still tasty. Pizza, like I said, USED to be hard to beat, but its just a sad reminder of another place in the Gateway area that’s well-past it’s prime. And it saddens me that to add to the rainy day gloom there wasn’t even music playing, it seemed overly dim with some lights not even on(sadly it wasn’t to add to the ambience of a mediocre meal), and, to drive that point home: NO fresh pizza, and it seemed upon exchanging a brief look with the cook/chef/guy-in-the-kitchen that he had no desire to bother freshening up the choice of what Izzy’s was one world-famous for– Remember their slogan back in the 90s? «Izzy’s is pizza, plus a whole lot more!» Clearly it isn’t.

Had a BOGO coupon or I would have never gone in. None of the food was good. Service was great. Ice cream machine magically quit working right before we were ready for desert. Found hair in our«street taco’s»…looking back the hair probably added flavor to the flavorless tacos. I remember going to Izzy’s in Longview after church and having decent food, apparently that was then and this is now. Don’t waste your time, we wont be returning.

Not great and I would not recommend it even for the price. This place reminds me of a Hospice or a Senior living center in every way possible. Old customers, easy listening music and horrible bland food that you get sick of eating before you are even full. If you have no standards in what you eat and a big appetite I say go to izzys otherwise stay away.

Came in yesterday around 2:30 pm for lunch and left hungry. If after the lunch rush you stop making food, then do me a favor and close till dinner. There was nothing except salad, mashed potatoes, gravy, and bread sticks. After waiting a good 20 minutes thinking they were making pizza, I finally had to ask them to make one… too bad it took so long that it came out as I was leaving 30 minutes later. This was the second time this has happened. I will not be back. *$ 11.00 dollars for a trip to the salad bar and soda. I could’ve gone to a bar had a great burger and fries and a beer. I should’ve listened to my stomach. HOMETOWNBUFFETHERE I COME!

Ordered from the window 1st thing waited for nothing… Then they said it’s coming when I was done… Everything was out… Salad dressing… Ice cream topping… And at 7pm when dinner is peaking… When I brought it up… And truly in a nice way… The guy says… Yeah sorry. People called in sick… Smh… In other words they don’t care so I don’t care to come back. Not sure why I expected anything more! **update the guy at the counter gave me $ 5 off for the trouble and I was about to change the star rating until I watched a tweeker walk in grab some pizza with his nasty hands and walk out… So grossed out… I want to puke it all up… NEVERAGAIN… Hire more people and management or shut this place down. Gateway has turned into nastyway

Checked in there for lunch haven’t been in a while. So used to paying top dollar for lunches and dinners. I was kind of taken back by the pricing $ 8.50 per person which I thought was an amazing value for all the food you can eat. Our three-year-old daughter eat for free! The food is what you would expect from a buffet. Mediocre food but still decent after all these years.

We took our 12 year old grandson here because it was his choice. I will certainly never go again. All of the food was overcooked and tired. The salmon came with what they called a sweet chili sauce, I think. Bizarre flavor combination, in my opinion. Barbecued chicken consisted of dry chicken breast coated in a thick, sweet sauce. Green beans were limp and tasteless. Pizza was the best option, though the crust was more like bread than pizza crust. For the price, we could have gotten a decent meal at a moderately priced restaurant or a great food cart!

I had three hungry teens to feed and I was not about to break the bank taking them to anywhere fancy that they wouldn’t appreciate. So hey, Izzy’s was the closest place that came to mind. We arrived at about 3:04pm which is right when they’re transitioning between lunch and dinner… THEWORSTTIMETOCOMETOTHISSORTOFESTABLISHMENT! Of course they had old pizza, dry chicken and partially empty trays in the buffet line but I gave them a break because of the timing. They put out some fresh food 20 minutes after we arrived and the chicken was juicer, pizza was fresh and it wasn’t bad for the most part. I just had to get them fed and my goal was accomplished. I wouldn’t come back because I don’t do buffets but the customer service was pretty good and the teens enjoyed themselves. Happy Unilocaling…

Why do I keep going here? Will I never learn? Unless you are going for salad only I would not recommend the hot food buffet. They seem to never be able to keep up with the dish of the day. The bin is always empty. You can eat corn all day long but don’t expect to have ribs if that is the draw for the week. Today I had a chicken thigh. Yup, undercooked. It was pink and rubbery at the bone. The rest of the hot food was bland and/or cold. But the salad bar was pretty good.

What used to be a fun place has sadly turned for the worst. 1) They have unhelpful and sometimes hostile employees who really seem to hate their working environment. 2) The food is dry and lifeless and sometimes disgusting, 3) They bait and with advertisements. There are far better places to take the family if you want to over eat

Cold chicken noodle soup, I ordered a steak off their grill menu after 20min I went up and asked he found my ticket on the floor. I said forget it. 5 min later my mom decided to order it again(I still wanted it) another 20 minutes we left!!! They garage 11.99 on Sundays and the grill ran out of waffles. So that’s 3 strikes. They have us 10% off whoopty doo. They need some better management better staff something. Pizza bar was empty for quite a few minutes. The salad bar was the only thing full. After church crowd and they couldn’t handle it. Not worth the high prices!!!

What the heck?!! I guess it’s hit or miss with this place ! Paid a visit last night, Gross! Place was filthy, food was blah! They advertise one thing for the«grill» yet serve another… My wife n I said to each other«it’ll be a long time before we go to izzys again!»

The salad bar is just fine, the steak is acceptable, and a few other items(fried potato rounds) are decent as well. With how few food(specifically salad bar) options are in this part of town, I think it does its job. Just stay away from the pizza and the chicken!

I’m the furthest thing from a food snob — I’m a pretty easy guy to please and just about every place I’ve ever eaten has met if not exceeded my expectations. That being said, I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed with the place. When I found out there was a place that was both a conventional buffet and a pizza buffet, I was stoked and maybe my expectations were too high. The price was $ 11.99 for a combination of regular and pizza buffet and an additional $ 1.99 for a drink. There were about 7 different pizzas on the buffet and at no point during my stay was there a cheese pizza. I went for the Pesto Artichoke — which was damn good but the slices were comically small and reminded me of a Gallagher prop. About the size of a tortilla chip. The mashed taters, cheesy bread and breadsticks were above reproach. The dessert bar had a lot of the usual fare — the soft serve machine, cookies, a lot of toppings for the ice cream including sprinkles. Wait, no it didn’t. Other than the chocolate/strawberry/caramel sauce, there were no toppings for the soft serve — not even sprinkles. The cup for beverages was small and required a few extra trips for a refill, but I’ll acknowledge this is petty and hardly an inconvenience. The service merely existed — the staff being aloof if not slightly unfriendly. 3 stars for the food itself being on par with expectations.

I used to be a loyal customer of this location. But not anymore. My mother and I took to this location for dinner. The salad was great but when my mother had the oven roasted chicken she got one bite in before she discovered that the chicken was raw. She mentioned it to our server. Who without an apology took the chicken away to the back. Never said another word about it. Now understand the juices had been coming out that proved it was raw. «As our manager discussed with you, our grilled chicken is first smoked prior to being grilled and served on the buffet so it is fully cooked. Occasionally the color of the meat will change due to the smoking process which can give the meat a pinkish color, however, again, it is fully cooked.» So apparently we lied. They have lost a customer in me.

My friend LOVES this place and I just don’t get it. Went for brunch which includes custom omelets in addition to the buffets. It’s like eating items from a McDonald’s big breakfast: low end food at relatively low prices. But all you can eat, and apparently that makes it all okay for some people.

I only went here to meet some people, my wife didn’t come as she knew they wouldn’t have much for vegetarians. The food is all starchy white bread, and everything else looks like it came out of a carton or a box. Nothing made fresh here. Service was nil, but then with no tipping, what do you expect. If you like bad food, and like to feel bloated after dining, this would be the place. I hope I don’t have to go here again…

Not bad if you’ve got a coupon from the paper($ 6.49 for lunch buffet). Service to seat was inexplicably slow in a 25% occupied restaurant. Two people told me they were going to seat me but I stood around waiting.

Saturday my dad hits town on the way back from his vacation. This means one thing. Free food. Oh yeah. Before I head out from AC/GC I explain that Dad has to feed me if he wants quality time and the more food I can get, the better. If only, I say wistfully, there was a buffet that didn’t suck.(that’s foreshadowing, folks) So I meet the old putz at Gateway TC and after a few minutes of «i dunno, what do you want» I bust out Unilocal and realize that we collectively know jack about Gateway. So we go to Izzy’s. It’s a buffet. So don’t expect gourmet stuff. But unlike the other buffet chain, this chow can’t be described as «oversalted cat food» and I’ve never seen a 350lb guy with his family wearing a «Big Daddy» t-shirt. They have kind of an odd mix of stuff. The fried chicken is pretty good, I like the bite size slices of pizza. They have these fried potato rounds that are heart stoppingly tasty(literally). The baked beans are pretty good. The mac and cheese was bland. The pulled pork was very good(there was nothing to put it on, it was just a big metal bowl of pulled pork over a steam table, which is about how I like my meat). Mashers, also good, not sure if they’re instant or not, but they’re still pretty yummy and good textured. I think Izzy’s is a local or regional chain. I’d say you should check it out at least once. It would be a good prefunc if you know you’re in for a metric assload of drinking.
