Went here for dinner last night & was super disappointed… We ordered chicken & waffles and chicken fried steak both w/sides of mac & cheese. Mac & cheese had no absolutely no flavor, and the food was overall not good tasting at all. The service was good, but the food was tasteless.

Food is incredibly inconsistent. I have been there at all hours, for brunch, for dinner, for the bar’s happy hour and I never know if the food is going to be decent. Their Mac and cheese is one to avoid as is their corn bread. Their dirty Mac and cheese had something that was frozen and hadn’t properly been unfrozen and then served to us(not sure what this was but it was inedible). I have had some of the worst poached eggs there that I have been served in a restaurant and their fried chicken is lack luster and was served to us cold. Their sweet potato fries are regularly undercooked but, it’s the only thing I can bring myself to order these days. Service has also been spotty, sometimes it’s been great but it hasn’t made up for the times it’s been dismal, glacial, and rude. Their bar could be such a nice alternative to the lutz just next door, I just wish the food was edible. It’s gotten worse and worse over the last three years and breaks my heart to have to write this, I just want a decent neighborhood restaurant.

Delicious brunch! We got the fried chicken and waffles and the delta. The French toast was okay. Bacon was spot on!

Not a very comfortable environment at the time I went(2pm on Friday). Bare bones service and food was just ok. Had the side sampler chefs choice: collards, mac and cheese and red beans and rice. Nothing was worth coming back for another try.

30March16 @ 11:30am. Fried shrimp po-boy and pulled pork po-boy with sides of black eyed peas. pulled pork had a thin layer of pork and lots of bread. shrimp po-boy had shrimp and lots of bread. black eyed peas had more rice than black eyed peas and were not very tasty. po-boys had no particular southern taste. service was quick and friendly. would not return.

I really really want to give this place five stars, I really do. It’s local to me, has great fried chicken and amazing sides. BUT Service is absolutely terrible. One star service, five star food. And you’d think, oh, okay I’ll just order take out from them, but a) good luck getting anyone to be friendly or wait for you to finish on the phone, and b) just now, the server literally forgot to put our order in when we called so it wasn’t ready when we arrived. She said they were busy when we called so it slipped her mind, but there was only two people there and she spent forever chatting to one person at the bar before even acknowledging us. The whole reaction was very blasé; it was only after she saw my face that she quickly added ‘oh it’s on us this time, sorry’ but it was definitely not a full blown apology and frankly, I would have expected much more. She didn’t even seem that concerned, like it was a commonplace event. Even though I got a free meal out of it, I wasted gas driving there twice, not to mention wasting my time, and I don’t feel like that was even addressed. I’ve been a server for years and in high volume places and yes, I’ve forgotten an order once before. But I completely over apologized and caught the people at the door to tell them right away that I had forgotten and comp them, instead of waiting for them to react to my mistake and then quickly trying to smooth it over. This was not that experience. If I was a server who did this at my last job, I would have been fired on the spot, no questions. I’m not saying she deserves to lose her job, because times is hard, but there’s a huge dichotomy between what should be expected as a server and what happened. OHAND, when she re made our order she didn’t remember that we ordered plates that come with sides, didn’t ask us if we wanted them, so after getting home for the second time, we opened the bag to find basically a quarter of what we ordered. Ended up just ordering a pizza. :( So yeah. Five star food, one star service. I hope things will improve soon, because summer is coming.

The food seems a bit more dependable these days, my Seafood Jambalaya was fantastic and we finally made it back for breakfast, I had The Delta. Bacon was perfect(i.e. crisp). The French Toast looked amazing. Dad’s biscuits and sausage gravy(they offer a chicken gravy) were really tasty but appeared to have separated some. He didn’t care because it ate the same for him. The begniets were not doughnutty, but more like fried dough, on the chewy side. Would skip next time. The service was slow, but friendly. Seeing this good old place improve and maintain while so much is happening on Woodstock makes me glad. Will continue to visit.

My boyfriend is from Georgia and he’s been out of place living here in Portland. When I told him about this place he had to try it and afterwards was«incredibly impressed». I’ve been here twice now and the collared greens have me always coming back for more! If you want some southern comforts, this is the place to go in Portland!

The Delta used to be my go to in the Woodstock neighborhood, I live nearby. Then a couple years ago, the place was bought or something, anyway it went waaay downhill. Food got so bad I had stopped coming here. My daughter and I decided, on a whim, to stop by for breakfast. The Delta got it’s groove back! The place was PACKED and we still got our food in 15 minutes. Breakfast was awesome, tasty, hot, huge, hit every base. Yay! The Delta is back! I don’t know if they got new management or what, but something is different. Server was prompt and friendly too. Will be back this weekend!

Food is alright. Grits had lumps. My mother would turn over in her grave if she knew i was eating this. Also, they kept playing Rolling Stones — Cant always get what you want” every 10 minutes. WTF

We went there for brunch/breakfast. So good! My Bloody Mary was fantastic. The service was great. Pancakes, French Toast, Eggs, Bacon and a Cajun Scramble all cooked perfectly. The coffee great. I can’t give them 5 stars because they served the beignets burnt. They tasted okay but they looked bad, and the others at the table had never had them so I let it slide. I would recommend this restaurant in fact I all ready have.

Walked in and put our name(party of 2) on the list, then sit in the corner waiting to get called. Plenty of 2 – 3 person tables were clear. Party of 3 walks in behind us, writes their name on the list, but before they turn to sit a waitress appears and asks how many they are. 3? Come right in, we’ve got tables for 3! My friend and I were sitting waiting for 25 minutes and nobody checked in with us or even glanced at the list – the party whose name was after us(and was already seated) wasn’t crossed off or anything. Rather than hunt down the waitstaff to ask for a seat we opted to go somewhere else. Pretty poor service.

I have been to Delta a couple of times now, the span between those visits was tremendous. However, the food and service was exactly the same. This place is solid. The server was skilled and attentive, made sure we had everything we needed, brought all of the food out at once which the guys in the kitchen deserve some credit for as well. Their brisket plate with 2 sides is fairly reasonable in pricing. The portion is well over the amount any one individual needs to consume in one sitting, but it is hard to stop yourself. So I ordered the brisket plate with their sweet BBQ and spicy BBQ, mixed, for 16 $ it comes with 2 sides of your choice, I went with Greens and Mac. If I am at a soul food joint, I order the same things typically so I have something to base my review on. My father got the brisket as well, but his sides were red beans/rice and Cole slaw. Cole slaw? Who orders that? Even he regretted that decision when he tried his girlfriends Greens. The greens are cooked up with pork. De-light-ful. The Mac was tasty, and filling. The brisket was perfectly tender and well flavored. I think I will go with all spicy sauce next time. I like heat. My wife got a Chicken Po-boy. Monstrous sandwich, for her. She seemed to enjoy it, when she wasn’t trying to snag my greens. My father’s girlfriend had the Cajun Jambalaya which she said was excellent. We also had a couple of their Monday night cocktail specials, it was a raspberry vodka lemonade drink, rather tasty and a deal at 5 $ This place will also serve you a 40 oz. Pabst in an ice bucket, which is fairly unique. All in all a great experience for all of us, everyone left full and satisfied. Oh, and if you ask nicely, they will even turn on Monday night football for you. That’s a definite plus. Be sure you snag a spot where you can see the TV. That’s right, singular. This is not a sports bar. The news was on with CC when I walked in.

We have been driving by this place for a few years. We never went in because my husband always thought it was too spendy… though he never really looked at the prices, because it’s not. We took my mother in law there for some southern comfort food. We started with hushpuppies and fried okra. Both delicious. They ordered the chicken fried steak. I got the gumbo. My gumbo was delicious. The cheesy potatoes were super yum! The chicken fried steak was served cold and the mashed potatoes were even colder. When we told the waitress, they were brought out 2 fresh, hot plates. She even gave a discount on the bill for the inconvience. Great customer service! The 2 new plates were so good. You can tell they were hand made because the steaks were different shapes/sizes. We will be going back to try the brunch but also to try the fried oysters and po’ boys.

The food here is mediocre. I really can’t recommend it. If you have a hankering for southern food go to Screen Door – it rocks. This review is for THEBAR. Holy shit, they make some tasty cocktails. Scratch that. This review is for the Manhattan cocktail I had last time I was there. It has this thick, earthy, figgy quality. Not too sweet. So so good. They know how to make good drinks. Go there for a drink.

I still believe that Cajun food is some of the best. Period. The simplicity and the complexity all in one and the food just tastes so damn good! It was a day to wander and Woodstock is where I ended up. I really didn’t know what I wanted to eat but Otto’s was in the back of my mind. I came upon where the New Seasons Market is being built and saw Delta Café. Then I looked at the menu. PoBoys? Ribs? Catfish? Fried Chicken? Oh wow, I hope they have Abita… and they do, in bottles. The blackened catfish poboy looked like the way to go with remoulade and slaw. The other option would have been mayo, lettuce and tomato. I also went with mac and cheese for my side(I could have gotten sweet potato fries instead). Everything was spot on. Perfectly spiced, perfectly cheesy and just delicious. The catfish was tender, the bread was crisp, the mac and cheese was hearty. The Abita Amber was the icing on top. Not a bad little dive bar. I totally will come back for more of this type of food. The south is well represented in the menu. Louisiana, Texas, Alabama and Mississippi all can take credit for menu items. As I said, totally worth it. Enjoy.

I LOVE Delta Café! Yes, it’s a bit divey but the food, prices, and service more than make up for the scenery(or lack thereof!). There are a myriad of Southern-style foods — for both vegetarians and meat-eaters alike, and everything tastes so good! My favorites are the mac and cheese, the vegetarian collard greens(SO amazing!!!), and the shrimp. Last time we were there, they were handing out HUGE slices of the most delicious chocolate cake for FREE! The cake was so delicious! Delta’s Happy Hour is AWESOME! Huge portions(all portions, all meals are huge) for very affordable prices, and a huge drink menu. Go! You’ll love it!

There was a time-maybe 10 years ago-when this was the spot to go. During that time period it was usually hard to get a seat and the comfort food they served was 5 stars. I returned here recently and was disappointed. First, I was surprised that the place was nearly empty. Then I noticed that the TV was turned to comedy central and the stereo system was way too loud and playing Pandora. Honestly, if I wanted to watch comedy central I’d just stay home. It was just a weird vibe all the way around. The food was decent but bland. Salad was mediocre and the ribs were clearly baked and then smothered in BBQ sauce. Fair enough… this isn’t a rib place after all but they do have a BBQ set up on the side of the place. Overall, I’d say this place has lost its edge.
