Friendly staff, decant food, they had a Pineapple cider that was pretty good, very original.

C.A.H. provides my Scrabble buddies and I a reasonably quiet environment where we can jam a few games Tuesday nights free(mostly) from the interference of obnoxious youngsters running around and intrusive onlookers telling us what is and are not words — that much I can appreciate. Wish there was more to which I could positively attest but the food is subpar and the beer list, while plentiful, lacks good IPA(or any decent beer from what I’ve sampled).

They really know how to pick out a truly terrific lineup of hand crafted beers. I did not check out the menu, only a few stout ales and porters on tap. The atmosphere is pleasant. Besides tables chairs and beers there’s not much else but I thoroughly enjoyed my visit with my friend :)

I finally made it back after telling everyone over the past couple years that this hidden gem has the best fish ‘n chips in town. I was not disappointed. I’ve had a lot of fish ‘n chips and I’ve been told I’m very picky. These are the best outside of some on the dock in Victoria. Beer battered fresh fish cooked to perfection. Other than that the place is pretty hoe-hum. But damn! The fish and chips!

I wasn’t expecting much given the reviews but it was open late. I’m actually quite happy with the food and experience. It wasn’t as divey as I expected, the staff was courteous, and people left me alone on a night that I really wanted some space to myself.

Coolish local taproom/sportsball pub. Lots of local and imports on draught.

A friend happens to live nearby, so we walked over. Cool place. A couple of pool tables, plenty of seating, and some pretty great taps. Probably not a place I’d make a special trip for, but well worth hitting if you’re in the area.

Great little neighborhood pub. Great customer service and awesome selection of local flavors. Pretty run down and divey, I recommend saddling up at the bar.

This is a cool place to grab a beer and watch the game. Really cool Bartop too. Staff is friendly and the crowd is chill. Cheers!

Zero stars should be an option. I had to physically step over the corpse of a snot-nosed child to gain entry to this establishment. After which I was greeted by two servers apparently babysitting said child’s younger sibling abandoned in a high-chair at a table for 8. No parents in sight. The tap beers were literally 50% IPAs, and I got absolutely ZERO service. Three otherwise unoccupied employees assured me the bartender would be right with me, whilst leaning and chatting amongst themselves. Preferential service treatment was directed toward a cadre of apparent-employees drinking endeavours as they lounged about in Concordia-labeled T-shirts. I waited 10 minutes of being ignored before departing. So, if you need a place to abandon Blake and Tanner to roll about on the floor and be cared for by the waitstaff, and you didn’t want a beer anyway, Concordia is for you!

Horray for breakfast! Hash browns! WOOHOO! Yeah, I’m posting a review for BREAKFAST for an ale house(aka bar), and I’m proud to do it. There’s a good selection of vegetarian items on the menu, food portions are very generous, and yeah, the food is good. You can either sit at the bar, at a table, or outside — but the place is HUGE. They don’t draw a huge breakfast/brunch crowd — which is fine by me, no waiting = I get to sit, order and eat quicker than just about anywhere else.

We stopped by while visiting the area looking for a local brew pub experience. They had a decent selection of beers available(posted on a flat screen TV) which they told us change around quite often. Only a few beers stay on the regular lineup. The big negative for us what how sterile the place looked. The sense of a «pub atmosphere» was almost nonexistent. The place could have just as easily have been a Mexican restaurant. It just lacked the sense of community we find at so many other ale houses and pubs.

Hideous atmosphere. Not because it’s filthy and run-down…it’s just… weird. Many people say it’s like drinking in a credit union, but my credit union is much more cool and hip than this place. Weird layout too, although honestly I kinda liked it, just because it was so strange. The space has potential to be a quirky fun spot, but needs a lot of work to get it there. I resent the fact that I’ve been there twice, lured in by the outdated online taplist(«oh, we haven’t had that in weeks»). If you dig the weird atmosphere, and you don’t mind being surprised by what’s on tap, it might be a good place to go. Not too many alternatives in that neighborhood, maybe just Kennedy School and Old Salt(beer and food will be much much much better at Old Salt, although the taplist is quite small).

I came here on my day off to enjoy a cheap lunch and a beer and got exactly what I wanted. I stumbled across this place when I was shopping at the New Seasons across the street and saw that there was a bar across the street. I used my handy dandy Unilocal app to see what their specials were, and since I was starving it was a perfect match. During their happy hour the lunch specials are only 3.75 and I got a big plate of chicken nachos in return. The food was freshly made and for the price I paid it was a pretty good deal. I was too lazy to make something at home, and for the price and quality I got I was pleased. I also got a Terminal Gravity IPA which was only two dollars, since apparently on Tuesdays they have two dollar bottles. The service was good and the lady who was helping me(Megan?) was friendly and quick. My food came out in less than ten minutes, and I was greeted at the door and told what their specials were that day. Definitely a step up from other places in Portland where the service is notorious for being terrible. I’ll be coming back here to sample their other offerings, but as of now I am happy with Concordia Ale House. I’ll be back soon.

We are Serious fish n chips people. After three years in portland and dozens and dozens of fish and chips in this city Concordia has remained my favorite. They have the best. English style beer batter, golden crispy on the outside, that perfect gooey paste against the perfectly cooked fish. Their other food is always great too,(at least my wife says so– I’ve only ever eaten their fish n chips) and they have overwhelming beer choices. They are always busy and noisy, just as a beer house should be. Only four stars because of the cleanliness but it’s an ale house so who cares.

This place is a great time! They have a substantial beer list, both bottles and draught as well as a full bar. There are probably over 100 different beers if you add up all their bottle choices. Mix that with a couple pool tables, TV’s, video poker, pinball and a few other games and you have a little something for everyone. Oh yeah, pool is absolutely free here. It’s a great place to meet up with friends. It’s truly a place that caters to both hipster beer snobs and bud drinking sports nuts. They have a $ 4 special of a shot of Old Crow and some crappy swill beer so if you’re looking to get drunk for cheap you can do that here. It never seems to be too packed either which makes grabbing a spot on the pool table pretty an easy task. The bartenders are friendly, more so than a lot of other bars I’ve been to in Portland. Stop in to Concordia Alehouse if you’re looking to meet friends or make friends! Conveniently located at the corner of 33rd and NE Killingsworth. My cousin and I went to Concordia and lost a game of pool to a beautiful older woman and her boyfriend. If you are reading this drop him and go on a date with me, please?

The brie bake here was so awesome I got two. My friend just moved to Portland and suggested this place for pool, so I was happy to find the food and beer to be delicious as well. I stayed a good hour after my friend left, playing pool with another pal. The bartenders were nice and the regulars were kind. I am returning to Portland in a few weeks and have this spot on my to do list!

Concordia Ale House is a bit of a haul from my own neighborhood, and there are a number of places with respectable taps in my area. Despite this fact, I find myself making the trek to Concordia every now and then. In other words, I come here on purpose, so I obviously must like the place. There are over 20 rotating draft beer selections – usually always including a few awesome IPAs and double IPAs(I’m a whore for those). They often have rather obscure offerings that you see just anywhere. They’ve also got an extensive import and domestic bottle selection – as good as many bottle shops. Food is your typical pub grub, done in typical fashion. I am rather partial to the Hades wings. The Hades sauce isn’t hot ATALL in my view, but it’s quite tasty(which is why I crave it). I realize the whole«hot» thing is highly relative, and I like things hotter than most. So if it helps, I think the el jefe wings at Fire on the Mountain are pretty hot, but more than manageable. This place is super casual and cozy. TV with some sort of sport on. Two pool tables. Plenty of tables to eat at. I’d give it five stars, but the service can get a little slow when it’s packed(not because the staff are slackers, but because they end up a little under-staffed). But what makes this place rather unique is how it demonstrated to me, for example, that despite our Oregon pride in our quality craft brew tradition, California has recently been kicking our ass in the beer department. And who has the audacity to make such a claim in the Rose City? Why the beer fans of Portland themselves! And why would they do such an unpatriotic thing? Because they participated in one of Concordia’s blind taste tests, and picked their favorites, only to find to their horror that they were from California(eek!). Yeah. Concordia Ale House is fond of beer tastings. In the near future it’s a tasting of beers of Colorado. Maybe it’ll be beers from Bend, OR, or Southern California. Or maybe it’ll be a contest(Oregon v. California, as described above). What does this tell us? The folks at Concordia are serious about good beer. And if you are also serious about good beer, you should come drink beer here, like I do.
