This place is great. I love it. They have an awesome and diverse beer list, and the food is a rare treat! However(!) this locale suffers from a few issues: 1) People’s dogs. If you don’t want to interact with strangers’ poorly-behaved dogs, don’t go onto the patio. 2) This is clearly a bar; everything about the interior says bar. It is also, unfortunately, reaching for«family friendly,» so it’s occasionally littered with the self-important Portland-parent set and their squalling, running, perpetually underfoot hellspawn(«I’m not a crummy parent, my kid’s on the autistism spectrum, or something… and I am distracted on my iPhone…»). 3) This is clearly NOT a sports-bar, but it is occasionally overrun with the sort of adults possessed of the sub-standard intelligence which leads them to scream and yell at whatever idiotic sportsgame is on the television, making one desire to throw a brick at the thing and shout«you’re F’ing grown-ups…stop this idiocy. Otherwise, NePo is RAD!

What can you say about a place where you step inside and immediately feel like you’re amongst friends, even without knowing a soul?! We live down the street so we’ve been coming here frequently. Very comfy, neighborhood vibe. The food is amazing(seriously…great burgers, and in a city where EVERYONE makes mac n’ cheese, Nepo 42’s might just be my fave), the tap list is strong and I’m not sure the servers could be any better. Really just feels like the kind of place I want to hang out at and watch a game or leisurely grub, drink and shoot some pool with friends. I’d give them 6 stars if I could. Well done, Nepo 42!

The service has been impeccable thus far and extremely quick(I mean, it doesn’t hurt that there are about 6 people in here right now and they have 2 bartenders working). Every time I was asked if I wanted another beer, the bartender said it with a smile on their face which really made me feel as if I was in a place where I was accepted and not being judged. Do you know how much better beer tastes when you feel as if you’re not being judged for drinking a copious amount of it? It’s glorious. It’s as if God himself is serving you. They are constantly washing the dishes — which, if your only lover is the environment, I can understand why this would be upsetting to you — but for the rest of us normal people, it is incredibly reassuring to see how sanitary the staff is being. I would rather drink from clean glasses and use an extra bit of water than saving a salmon and contracting bird flu or lupus, but hey, that’s just me.

Been there twice and left disappointed both times. The food is adequate. The beer list is good. Prices are high for what you get, and that’s before addons like protein for salads. Beer is about a buck more than you would expect. The salad and mac and cheese are a couple dollars higher. The service is where they really fall down. Both times the bar was less than half full, no more than 15 customers total. Both times I waited more than an hour after ordering to get my meal. When it arrived hot items were cold. Cold ones were warm. Getting the server’s attention was remarkably difficult for a small half empty place. Given them two chances. They won’t get a third

Had a great lunch here, 12/10/2015. Started with Ninkasi Total Domination($ 5), then broccoli-cauliflower cheddar cheese soup(fantastic $ 6) and then corned beef on rye with hand cut fries. a superb version of this sandwich(fries were perfect($ 12). Good service. I’ll be back.

I’ll be upfront: I’ve only had their chicken wings and beer. This is one of my favorite places in Portland. They have the best chicken wings in Portland, smothered lightly in buffalo sauce and smoked to perfection ready to be dipped in chunky blue cheese dressing — there’s really no reason to love these nuggets of tasty addiction. I’ve gone here an embarrassingly number of times for chicken wings during happy hour and I’m not sure how the staff doesn’t know my face by now. Maybe they do. They’re really nice. Get. the. wings.

This is a review by a vegetarian Groupon induced misadventure. Service was fine Kale salad was fine though a little pricey at $ 11 before adding a protein. Also, all the small bits were at the bottom instead of on top. Anyway, that’s not the reason for a low rating. The«Homemade Pretzels» are not pretzels. Pretzels are an enriched dough(butter added) that’s been boiled in a base-solution(lye or baking soda) before baking. Malt syrup, egg wash are optional. What’s served at NePo, for $ 10!, is 3 medium sized dinner rolls that have been reheated in a hot oven to brown the outside, brushed with oil/butter, and sprinkled with salt. The inside of the roll was room temp and dry. You can’t just serve a bread next to mustard and cheesy beer dip and say«wallah!» Anyway, maybe the beer is good.

Awesome. Great food, great service, great beer. Hamburger was excellent, steak salad was off the hook. Can’t wait to come back.

I enjoy this place. They have some of the best chicken and waffles I’ve found. Happy hour portions are perfect. The outside seating is great for a nice day. They infuse their own Vodka and have some interesting fun flavors — give them a try if you don’t see a brew you want. I got a Acai berry cider and it was super yumm — an really good for me too, right! antioxidants and all… anywhoo — they menu if pub grub, tasty adn fun. They have brunch on the weekends — but don’t open till 10. Give it a try — you’ll probably like it…

Here at a quiet time. Great service, 16 beers to choose from. Had to have the barnyard fries; glad my friend ordered the chicken waffle. Fairly plane facility.

We keep coming back to NePo on hot days after a long day working from home. They have a fantastic happy hour with a champagne and bitters cocktail that makes me go to that happy place. To balance it all out I eat all their HH food starting with the hummus plate and then the Mac n cheese or the chicken fried bacon. It’s within walking distance to tacos and ice cream if you’re still hungry afterwards or drink enough to continue eating. Food is great and my glass is never empty which make me a happy camper. Also enough menu options for those on weird gluten free diets so yay!

I love the happy hour chicken and half a waffle. It is pretty proportional. Oh wait, what? I can’t slice my chicken easily. Oh hello there slice of bacon in the middle. Aren’t you a gem of flavor swimming in maple syrup infused with sage? Whoever said champagne are just meant for toasting is wrong. I mean, one is enough right? I held myself quite well with one flute. The sugar cube made it extra sweet that it reminds me of my future like the next day and a hello to my diabetes doctor. STOPDRINKINGSUGARY drinks. The service is pretty decent. We had two. The first one looks dazed and confused while the second one is amazingly attentive. We were at the patio but I could not imagine being inside and smelling like fried food after.

Check it out, this place is fucking delicious. All you need to do is get some Poppers and some Barnyard fries. Yeah I know $ 11 for fries is expensive, I’m not saying get them everyday but for fucks sake get them at least once, I don’t care if your a vegan, sack up and get em anyway they are better than an orgasm(not that he’s ever had one). And the poppers are equally awesome. Go eat there for real.

I’m bumping this review up a star for the awesome brunch I just had. Delicious Bloody Mary — lemony zingy hollandaise sauce and no crowds! Servers were sweet and the fried potatoes were soooo good I admit I over ate a bit… that’s what happens when you are eating breakfast and lunch in one sitting. Got a side of bacon(nice thick pepper bacon) for four bucks and then unlocked the Unilocal offer for 4 $ off my bill. Umm hello there free bacon!

Great space, fun crowd. Our server was nice, although the place seemed slightly understaffed. The menu read great, with fun, unique food choices. I ordered the fries topped with poached eggs and pulled pork. The pulled pork portion was a bit stingy, maybe one fork full at best. Tasted good though.

I saw a review of NEPO42 this morning and it just so happened I have a teen who needed a ‘mental health break from high school’ lunch. He’s got the calories to spare, and a BMI of –574 so this spot was ideal. I had the kale artichoke dip which of course had some sort of cheesy love in it served with white tortilla chips, and a sprinkle of green onions– a perfect portion size, not obscene and not too salty. Very tasty. Skinny soccer guy had the wings and barnyard fries. The wings were sinus tickling spicy which he craves and the carrots and blue cheese were fresh. Nobody likes a limp carrot, FFS. The blue cheese dressing tasted homemade. The barnyard fries are crazy– covered in sharp cheese, jalapeños(homemade pickled ones!) bacon, red pepper, green onion and normally with sour cream and avocado but soccer boy chose not to enjoy those 2 additions today. I took the pulled pork sandwich home to daughter and she hoovered it down so fast I didn’t get a photo. Apparently it was excellent. Because she didn’t let me get a photo, I told her it was made of lynx* meat just because I’m mean like that. Then I took dog for a brisk walk. I will return on a weekend to try the ciders and the beer lover in my house will surely dig the Huge selection. Sweet server was very attentive and all said and done I hope to go back very soon. *no lynx was harmed nor actually even spotted during my review, lunch or subsequent walk.

For now, I’m going with 3 stars — not as a penalty, but in hopes that it continues to get better. We’ve only been for brunch, but I will return for brunch — and I’d like to try happy hour and dinner. Meat eaters — definitely give brunch a go, lots of meat options for brunch that you’ll enjoy. Veggies — I found two dishes; but possibly quite a challenge if you’re vegan(which I’m not so I didn’t ask). I had the Florentine benedict which was tasty and filling, its served on a house made biscuit. The hollandaise sauce was a little on the bland side, but that’s OK — one egg was poached a bit more(toward hard boiled) the other was poached perfectly. Served with tomato, spinach and avocado(in place of meat) which was a great dish. Oven potatoes were tasty and crispy. Portions were just perfect for brunch. 3 stars today for service. Actually the service was fine, but initially as one of the first customers(and not having been there before), the initial greeting was us looking around sheepishly asking if we could sit anywhere, and the response was«yeah, any where» which sounded more like of-course-it-is-you-idiots. That kind of response going to a place for the first time is a little off-putting. The service definitely improved, and was just fine, but crazy how that first impression can leave a sour note. I’ll try again, and update accordingly because I did enjoy the food(albeit limited veggie options)

First visit to NEPO42 last Friday. Friday pau hana(after work) is NOT the time to go to this place as a newbie and linger over the menus… either drink or food. Pretty busy, especially with all the outdoor seating. I think they might have been a hand short when we got there, someone else did come on and things improved. Good beer choices, if not a bit eclectic. Smallish menu of some things that were pretty good as well. I think next time we would nosh off the HH and app menu more. All I know is I wish we had a few more places like this… this size, this busy, in Vantucky.

Been here for drankins, been here for breakfast(or brunch, if you must). Breakfast(ob, iym) I got the«biscuit benni» which aside from the biscuit is made with«pit ham». It wasn’t the normal rounds of Canadian bacon-ish type ham that bennies usually come with. The eggs were poached easy which was really, really strange. It was good and not super crowded, I’d probably go back if I felt like making the trip to 42nd. There’s also burgers, etc and salads available. Drankins. Pretty damn awesome. There’s an interesting patio that’s actually separated by a low wall. One side is a lawn level with the wall so if you approach from the north you can jump down into the patio. There’s an inside with a bar and an adjacent dining room. There’s a wide beer selection and a moderately broad liquor shelf. The servers are pretty good and the food is pretty great. Definitely worth a bit of a trip.
