So my girlfriend just stopped off to have a glass of wine and couple tacos. Lone and behold a cockroach ran across the bar top and the guy next to her smashed it! Gross! I’d say call the exterminator soon.

YUM! I’ve never eaten here before, but ordered food today to support my son’s school’s 5th graders. Bethany Public House was giving a portion to them. I ordered the garden veggie pasta to go. OMG, soooo yummy! After reading the reviews and eating their yummy food, I definitely want to return to eat in and try their beer.

I ordered the gorgonzola cheese fries and the green beans from the happy hour menu. The food had good flavor. The beer is exceptional. I cant remember the name of the type I got, but it was very similar to a blue moon. I got a growler to go, before I left. The service was alright. They were very busy so we decided to sit in the bar. I definitely want to return to try the brussel sprouts.

I usually like this place and I’ve been here several times with great results. Today I brought my hubs and we had salads, both salads were served with Rotton Avacado and my hubs salad had Rotton Cukes as well. So gross see photo.

We really liked this place until they carded our Japanese friend visiting grom from Japan. I quote the waiter«We only accept US identification». We did not get the oportunity to present the Japanese passport. Imagine US travelers being held to those standards when we travel overseas.

Very excited to edit my previous review. My earlier review wasn’t complimentary and I mentioned the place was new. Well after many months we decided to return for a second look. I am happy to report they won us over. Food was excellent, waitress was awesome and friendly. So happy they worked out the issues. We will be returning.

The Brussel Sprouts were a joy! They are my favorite thing to eat here. The burgers are good, the wings are fine, but the Brussel Sprouts are divine! The bar has lots of sports tuned TV’s and smiling waitresses. Good beer selection, nice ambiance, and attentive service make it a fine neighborhood haunt.

We were reluctant to try it because… how cool can a suburban public house be? But IMO it is super cool. It’s like a classic public house in Bend plugged in NW Portland. We’re making our way through the menu(boneless ribs menu special, kid’s mac n cheese, kid’s pizza, Brussel sprouts, hot wings, wedge, beat salad, green beans) and everything has been well above average. And the service has been friendly and warm. But as beer drinkers, the tap list adds the 5th star. Its a great selection and the house beers are pretty darn good too. Yeah its a not the cheapest, but you can taste the quality. BPH is our new favorite close-to-home casual feed house.

I really enjoy this place, although the food can be a tad overpriced for what it is(hence the 4 stars). I don’t mind paying top dollar as long as the quality matches the price. Other than that I’ve always had a really good experience here. The Friday night bartender, Amber is great and so is the rest of the bar staff.

I love it here! The food is delicious, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and easy going. Great for a girls night, family dinner or a date(hint, hint). You should go. You’ll probably like it. If not, forget the date hint.

I came here for a Paint Nite. While I only live a few miles away I some how managed to have never heard of this place. I had their Cod tacos, and they were sooo good! My Friend had pizza that was delicious and my mother –in –law had a burger that she said was good. Their spicy garlic tots rival Mcmenamens. I would suggest you try this place, if you haven’t yet. I haven’t tried their beers, but I will be back to try more food and drinks!

The fine folks at BPH helped us out this weekend when my reservation for 11(then up’d to 13), was lost by another restaurant nearby. BPH hooked us up with a great table, and a super super helpful server! We had lots of beer questions, and lots of kids with us. He handled our group perfectly! I wish I could remember his name — he was absolutely perfect! Oh, and other than soggy burger buns, our food was perfect. Thank you!

There I was, watching my Green Bay Packers in a very tight game in the 4th quarter, enjoying my friends at the bar. To my horror, the female manager changes the station to, wait for it, flipping soccer! I asked her to change it back and that the game was nearly over and the soccer fans who had just arrived should wait. She did not even attempt to ask the soccer fans if they would wait a few minutes. In fairness there was one tv with my game on it but no sound. Bryan was kind enough to turn the sound on at the beginning of the game for me and the other Packer fans that were there. As a regular and knowing most employees there, they recently relocated many employees to their new store which has been a drag and an unfortunate move IMHO, I felt slighted and a fair amount pissed off. Hello! This is America, football on Sunday’s. I’ll hit the dirty hole in the wall next time. They won’t be changing the channel to soccer on me.

I am glad this opened in a neighborhood! definitely it didn’t disappoint. I mainly went to have some good time with friends. N I did find some there. House Merlot selection was not the best but for sure not the worst either. hummus plate was delicious. Veggies were fresh and hummus was good too. I will recommend this if you are not looking for anything fancy! Will rate this as 4.5÷5 stars. Grilled beans were good too. It had a taste similar to grilled asparagus. Liked the teriyaki sauce too. Not overpowering. I will rate this as 4⁄5 stars. Our server was good. She was warm and not very interfering. She did ask if we need a baby menu(which you can color). That was a hit with my toddler. My kiddo did give us some time to unwind when she got busy coloring the chef’s hat in the menu. Ambience stands out as well. I would say I didn’t like the animal skulls art in display personally. The picture frames just give this place a dense earthy vibes. loved the frames! But wait a minute. ‘GANESH burger’. Why do you need a lords name on food item. We hindu’s worship him. It’s kind of insensitive! Can you change that please! I am not going to eat that till you change it. Overall 3.5 –4 stars for this place!

Don’t know if it was because it was our anniversary or if I was just super hungry, but our meal was delicious! We had the hummus appetizer… good enough. Liked the variety of veggies and pita for dipping Husband had a spicy Thai chicken wrap and a Greek salad… loved it! Just enough spice in the wrap. His beer was even good… a local IPA. I had the salmon caeser. Also delicious! Just enough dressing in the salad to taste it but not be overwhelmed by it. The salmon seasoning had a tiny ‘bite’ to it. Packed up the leftovers for lunch the next day. We just live down the street… but we would go again even if we had to drive across town.

I pretty much love this place! I’ve been here 3 times now, and have had nothing but superlative service with the host/hostesses and waitstaff. The waitstaff have always been on point with drink recommendations and are at your table to take your drink orders within a minute of being seated. They have great beer, not only their own but other local breweries to boast. The great thing is… they have beer for all palates; from a grapefruit radler that sits somewhere around 2% ABV to 7% IPA’s and stouts… with wheats, reds, and a few others in between. Not into beer? That’s cool, they make some strong drinks that are extremely well mixed and tasty. They have signature cocktails like lavendar lemon drops made with lavendar infused vodka, and will mix whatever you like to order. But don’t just come here for the drinks, sit, drink, stay a while, EAT! Both the restaurant and the bar open up into patio seating, that is awesome. Most of it stays shady for these hot summer Portland evenings, which is really nice. The ambiance is friendly casual, makes for a great date night, after work happy hour(ends at 6pm), or girls night out! The burgers are juicy and cooked to perfection, and the fries crispy on the outside soft on the inside… super delicious! The fish tacos are to die for; the crema combined with the cojita cheese and fresh avocado completely elevates the deep fried cod to another level. The seared green beans have so much flavor slightly soy/hint of ginger, fresh and crunchy while a little bit of sweetness… you’ll never know they’re healthy! But don’t worry the waiter/waitress may offer for you to add bacon/chicken/etc. to them to doom their healthiness and boost their flavor from the start. Other great things I’ve had are cheese curds covered in bacon… can this even be a bad thing ever? Ceasar salad with perfectly cooked steak(the steak could have used a touch more seasoning) but the dressing was good, and it was great over all. Chicken strips with buffalo sauce, meh not memorable. The brussel sprouts however, watch out… these things are scrumptious! Flash fried topped with lemon, capers, and Parmesan… OMG… amazeballs! The owner is also super great… always walking around wondering how things are tasting… he genuinely cares about input. The only suggestions I could make is… demolish the Tacobell out front and turn it into much needed parking, and get that CREAMALE back on tap permanently ;) There are so few places with a good cream ale on tap, it’d be great to have another besides Thirsty Lion to have one!

The ambience is classy for a bar. Nice lighting. Parking spaces in front of the restaurant are limited, but you can park in the double decker parking garage across the street. I came here for Paint Nite and ordered a side Caesar salad to keep myself busy while waiting. $ 4. I thought it would be a pinner salad, but the portion was quite impressive for the price! Check the picture. It was enough to hold me over for the rest of the night; at least keeping me satisfied through Paint Nite. It was good, but not the best Caesar dressing I’ve ever had. Although, there was a generous amount of Parmesan cheese. I pushed most of it to the side. They definitely hire people with a certain«look». Every worker is at least above average looking. Service was prompt and friendly. I was well taken care of and will only come again for another Paint Nite event, but I would be inclined to order other menu items next time I’m here. It seems they had a great vegetarian selection.

When my friend who lives in Egypt(oh ok, it’s really the far reaches of Clackamas County) let me know she’d be here for a painting class and wanted to come early and have a drink with me in my neighborhood, I jumped at the chance. I never get to go ANYWHERE good lately. Like, with adults. And like, you know, real silverware, and stuff. And people who wait on you. I love that. My Egyptian friend(oh, ok, Clackamasian friend) and I arrived on a Monday night just after 6 and we quickly were seated at a table. She ordered a rootbeer float(so cute, an enormous mug of creamy frothy ice cream and rootbeer that came with a little tiny extra glass of rootbeer that looked like stout) and mac and cheese. She was gloating she had no gallbladder so she could eat yummy food. Sigh. I ordered brussel sprouts(happy to have no kid present to like, freak out on me about this) and a lemonade. I have had these brussel sprouts before. They are not totally vegetarian(if this matters to you) as they are cooked in the same place as meat things, BTW. They come roasted with odd little toasts under them, a good dousing of olive oil, parmesan shavings, and capers, maybe some lemon? they’re kinda bomb. I ate about half and took half home. My friend ate one too, stating she only ever ate brussel sprouts boiled.(I couldnt’ do that, oh dear no). She liked them. My friend ate half her good sized plate of macaroni and cheese(it looked good, if a little oily) and then her painting buddy showed up, ordered a beautiful champagne cosmo(next time, I’m getting that thing), polished off the rest of the mac and the two of them promptly jetted off to painting class, leaving me alone to wait for my daughter’s take out pizza to show up. Great, alone in a bar. Yay. If they’d had openings for me to paint I would have painted too, but they did not. Happily another friend showed up while I was waiting on the pizza. I got a refill on my lemonade, and watched him eat cajun sausage pasta. I ate some too. It oddly had rings of caramelized red onion and squished cherry tomatoes throughout(he doesn’t like those at all so I ate some) as well as a «schmutzy» sauce that was nicely spicy but a bit on the oily side. It reminded us of that olive spread on muffaletta(spelling??). The sausage was oddly in one big piece in the middle of the pasta and had to be cut to be consumed. AWKWARD. But not bad. It came with some bread. He had a hoppy beer that was called something cream… I’m not good at the long beer names. I tried it and it was ok. I’m typically not a beer girl. Unless it’s Guiness. That’s different. We had many different servers over the course of the evening. I had to prompt them to take away dirty stuff, but they kept our water refilled and I got a lemonade refill without asking. So overall the service was ok. There are some things about Bethany Public House I really like, and a few things that need tweaking. I’d like to have one consistent server if possible, because when I tried to get some people’s attention for my second friend to order his food it was nearly impossible(there was some good studious ignoring going on). Also the oiliness of all the food was kind of not delicious. There was a pretty big slick on all the plates when they were cleaned off. Still, beer and food in Bethany that is more than edible. Gets a four from me. And painting classes with booze? how fun! They also have trivia nights, movie nights, and other festive activities. Check out their website for details. P. S. My daughter had a cheese pizza, light sauce, and she reported that it was bland. She stole my leftover capers off my brussel sprouts to perk it up.

I really wanted to love this place, I was stoked to hear of it’s opening. I was impressed with the space, and how the garage-style doors opened up for outdoor seating during nice weather. The host staff were attentive. Some of the waitstaff are very green, but they’re friendly and really trying hard! FOOD: Not exactly what I was hoping for. I ordered the mac and cheese, which was decent, but wasn’t impressive. It was also swimming in oil, as in I had to shake off each bite before eating it. I expect there to be some — it is mac and cheese! — but this was a surprising amount for this mac and cheese enthusiast. It was missing the promised bread sticks that came with, but I tried my friends’ and decided not to ask for my own. Dry, lacking flavor — neither of us finished them. I also tried her spicy cajun pasta, and wasn’t impressed with that either. Husband ordered the cheesy bread, and that was a winner. DRINK: They do brew their own beer, and I ordered the Camel Brown Oatmeal Porter — delicious! I felt their specialty cocktails were a bit pricey. They do have a happy hour, but it was limited to draft beer, wine and well drinks. VERDICT: Nice place to hang out, but I wasn’t impressed with the entrees at all. I’d come back for beer and maybe appetizers. BPH was apparently started by the owner of the Tanasbourne Pizza Schmizza — you’ll notice similarities in many of the menu items, especially the salads and pizzas. You’ll also notice that the prices aren’t similar; the same items at Schmizza are substantially less, I get that the ambiance of BPH is more upscale than Schmizza, but if you want those items, just go down to Schmizza.
