Laliberte’s Auto Center

I try to circumnavigate the BMW service center if and when I’m able. Even a casual glance at my car seems to cost hundreds of dollars. As much as I liked my old 5-​series it was due for brakes and rotors — again. I decided to replace the pads with ceramic and that meant using a non-​BMW certified facility. La Liberte said they could handle the task so here we go.
The price was by all means less than I would have paid had the same work been done at the BMW service center. The problem I ran into is they simply didn’t know how to reset the maintenance lights inside the car once the work was complete. I went back several times and each time they failed at this promising they’d figure out how to do it at some point.
Are these guys honest? Yes. Do these gentlemen have integrity? Absolutely. Are these guys capable? Yes and no. BMW doesn’t make it easy to override their technology even with the assistance of online forums. The guys at La Liberte are hands on and although mechanically capable they may not be technically equipped to work on vehicles with newer technologies. The specific technical equipment required for such vehicles is also cost prohibitive. So they need to be careful of the jobs they accept and mine was one they probably should have passed on.
In the end and after a bunch of research I finally figured out how to reset the balance of the multiple error messages myself.
If you’ve got a straight maintenance issue these guys can probably handle it but if you’ve got onboard electronics in your vehicle that requires some tech savvy I’d suggest a repair shop with more specific or advanced capabilities.
Otherwise all here is A-​OK.

Excellent work with excellent integrity!
I grew up nearby and my family uses LaLibertys on a regular basis. This is one place I can guarantee you will not get taken advantage of. I can’t even tell you how many times Don and his guys have gone out of their way to help our family of 4 manage our vehicles when they need work done.
If you need a ‘loaner car’ while yours is getting fixed, just ask, they will do anything to help you out.
Whenever we are looking to buy a used car, we check to see if he has some for sale, or we take the car to him to have it checked out prior to buying.
Today I had oil/​lube/​filter and all break pads removed, cleaned and re-​installed and had my car back in 2 hours.
I could go on and on… Easy 5 stars

Don’t be deterred by one bad review!
I’ve been bringing my vehicles to La Liberte’s since my first car at 16 — and would whole-​heartedly recommend them to anyone. This is one of the few small shops in town that will not attempt to sell you unnecessary parts or additional jobs just to make a few extra bucks.
I always price-​check at least 3 shops (and usually a dealership) before scheduling work to be done on my vehicle. La Liberte’s is always competitive and is usually the cheapest. A great example is the last job (rear wheel baring) — they came in at ½ the price of two other shops.
This last time I took my car in, they worked around my schedule to squeeze me in around the holidays, took the time to explain the issue with my vehicle, and called any time something new popped up to talk with me before proceeding with anything that was different that agreed upon when I dropped the car off. They also spent three times as long as expected on my car (due to rust) but only charged an additional hour in labor. They are definitely the type of shop that would like to do the job right rather than just turn the job to get it out the door.
Fantastic customer service — especially by Don — is always a part of the experience at La Liberte’s. If you don’t know a lot about cars, don’t be afraid to ask the staff here. They are more than able to explain what’s going on without using jargon you won’t understand.
