Went to the Spruce this morning with the work crew, food was excellent! We watched air planes take off and land from Jefferson air port and enjoyed perfectly cooked breakfast to everyone’s likings, service was fast and excellent!

There is some anomaly in the air around this airport diner. Whenever I fly by, I need to land and have some pie. The lunches are good, but I just go straight for the pie, I have tried them all and can’t get enough of it. If you are going to have lunch first ask what pies they have so they will save you a slice. They run out of them all the time.

At Jackson County International Airport(well… They fly to Canada…), but no 747’s here, and no Howard Hughes sitings either. Good little local café at the local aerodrome. Right on the paddock. Folks fly in, taxi up and walk in for a meal. Good breakfasts. Nice variety. Our party got the two egg special, blueberry pancakes, Denver and veggie omelette. They’re very accommodating to special requests. Lots of aviation stuff on the walls and model airplanes hanging from the ceiling. Very cool!

Great spot for lunch on a sunny day. Friendly locals and staff. I would say food is average at best. I had a nice BLT. My companion had the fish and chips special. It appeared to be frozen out of a packet so not very impressed with that. However we did like the place overall.

Loved the atmosphere, service and the food. Great for kids too. The toy planes hanging from the ceiling and the old time lunch counter make this place a gem.

This is my friend’s Chelsea J.‘s favorite restaurant, she says it warms her heart everytime she goes there. She’s been going there for a long time and when she took me there, I could tell that it’s her favorite. She had the bacon and cheese omelet, the chicken fried steak and eggs, the tuna melt, the reuben, and 3 mimosas. She loved it so much, she ate all of it! Gravy dribbling down her chin was quite a sight. I had the fish and chips, which was well seasoned and crispy. I enjoyed it.

Good reviews all around from our group of 6. Rh mobs up for the BLT, chili burger, fish and chips and kids menu. Prices were good as well, and the pie lived up to its reputation, though get thee early for the best selection!

We really enjoy the Spruce Goose. We head there or of habit after church on Sundays, especially when the weather is nice. The service and the food are excellent but there are a couple of added gems when visiting the Spruce Goose. Situated on the flight line at Port Townsend International Airport, you can watch the planes come and go from any seat in the café’. They also have a beautiful deck. The planes pull up within yards of the restaurant. The Olympic Mountains are a beautiful backdrop to the flight line. They have a really cool décor to include memorabilia, models, and reproduction pieces from eras gone by. Is not a big place and they are always busy. Seat yourself but help out everyone else coming along after you by only taking up as big a table as you need. Highly recommend!

I’m being circled by 2 fruit flys and a house fly, must be waiting permission to land. Prices seem high for small shack, but it’s on an airport so guess anyone who can afford a plane would think it’s normal. The burger was good, not amazing or something to go outta your way for. Friendly staff, clean and cool airplane décor. Nice lil area outside to walk the dog.

The burgers were okay, my wife enjoyed her deluxe burger more than I enjoyed my deluxe bacon cheese burger. The problem was with the meat, it just wasn’t very tasty. I’ve had much better for the price. Service was great and it is a unique location.

Homey interior with friendly staff. Our breakfasts were ready quickly and moderately priced. The blueberry pancakes and eggs Benedict were gigantic. My single egg, toast, ham and hash browns were just enough to fill me up and not leave me stuffed. Beautiful views of the mountains and we watched a plane land too.

Palm Sunday, Port Townsend. Nary a cloud in the sky. Time for a quick Port Townsend flyover. And lunch at the Goose. Headed out for the Spruce Goose to meet up with son-in-law David who would be flying in from Bremerton. Popped by The PT Aero Museum to update our membership. Mr. Frugal and I believe in young pilots. «Give ‘em wings, teach ‘em to fly, we say. Parked the car in the 24 hour parking area. Sat in the front seat to try to finish reading PT’s 2013 Community Read book.(«Contents May Have Shifted» by Pam Houston.) The book will have to wait. The day is too glorious for reading. Later. Popped inside the Spruce Goose where David was chowing down on a mighty fine looking breakfast. Which was lucky for me as all of the other tables were occupied with happy folk also munching their muffins and coffee. «I’ll have the special.» Scrambled eggs with all sort of delightful goodies wrapped into a perfectly cooked miss-mosh. French fries(homemade) on the side. And a cuppa joe. Perfect! Paid the waitress.(They were fine with my Alaska Airlines Visa.) Tipped her for excellent service. In cash. Okay… okay…David paid the tip. Buttoned up a light jacket. Sauntered over to the(very) clean restroom while David prepped the plane parked just outside. Jumped into the passenger seat. Waved at the waitress and diners… Taxied to the runaway. Smoothly lifted off. No turbulence… heading outward into the friendly skies of… «So where do you want to go?» «Anywhere.» Spruce Goose Café, I love you. Without you, Beryl Markham(or Amelia Earhart, you can decide.)… without you, Spruce Goose… Flying from the Jefferson International Airport on a warm spring day would be well… Not as Uplifting. Seriously, folks… danged perfect. The place, the day, the town, the kids… and the flight… seriously… Over Easy.
