Came at 6, we tried the macaroni and cheese and the artichoke dip. Wow wow. They are must tries. We tried a few specialty drinks. One with fig, midnight something. It was amazing. They make there own tonic water so I highly recommend a vodka tonic. Lastly try the beet vodka. They make it there. It’s such a fun flavor. The bar staff was super friendly and gave great advice on sights and local things to do. It’s down the stairs under the building so it has exposed brick everywhere. It’s awesome.

Updated to 3 stars — more of a «neutral vote» — We booked a stay in PT for Christmas this year as well, since we had such a great dinner here last year this night — and planned our December 24th dinner again at the Cellar Door… only to find it’s really changed since last year. Sad, at least for us based on last year’s dinner. Service is pretty much«order at the counter — we don’t serve tables»… they no longer have table service — we had to go up to the counter for all service — despite it not being crowded(far from it — we were the only table not at the bar!) — and the food choices were very limited vs. last year= — but maybe we read the chalkboard wrong — last year, they had actual real menus and took food orders at the tables… this year, the menu was on the chalk board and we ordered at the bar… off night? Lacking staff the night we were there? I have no idea… but just reporting how it was. But it’s most likely that they’ve found a niche as a «late night dance club» or something… and not so much a dinner destination since last year? No idea as we don’t do late night clubs… Different place, different vibe. Next time, we’ll pop in for drinks and a snack — maybe one night«live large» and stay out late for a show LOL! We ended up having dinner back at Siren’s — ironically, we started there for a cocktail telling them we had plans for dinner at Celler Door, only to end up back at Siren’s for dinner… funny how that works out. I hope the«new direction» works out well … I do wish them well. It is a very cozy place! Dave & Anne

Perfect. Great drinks, wonderful food and super atmosphere. It is a perfect place for small groups wanting something a bit out of the ordinary.

I’m a fighter pilot in the navy in my mid 40s. A group of us stopped by this place after dinner for a drink before returning to our hotel. We were told to leave, kicked out! Before even ordering a drink? We repeatedly asked why we were being removed but the bar staff refused flatly to explain. Apparently a group of middle aged military guys with no tattoos, short haircuts and money in our pockets earned by us is not the group of people this establishment wants to serve.

Wow! Adam’s the best and the place is fantastic. What a great place to end the night! We are celebrating our anniversary and decided to stop by. The ambiance was great. Very impressive and complex craft cocktails. Both desserts on the menu tonight were gluten free and amazing. The best part though was Adam, our server, who was a great guy all around and made us feel extra special.

The food was excellent, drinks were so so. The worst was the waitress hovering all over our table though. We went to eat at 830, and there ended up being a band playing at 9. Just before 9, she said she was going to add the cover for the band to our 100 $ dinner bill since we would be there while they were playing. You’ve got to be kidding me! When we said no thank, she basically uncomfortably hovered right next to us like waiting for us to ask for the bill. She would come over every minute to «clear a glass» from the table for us(totally unnecessary), so she would increase her chances of us asking for the bill. Nice work waitress, you may have saved 15 $ in cover charges, but you def caused this place to lose a few returning customers.

Awesome place! Clearly the hipster option for PT. Very attentive service, fair prices, serious music, and seriously killer gastrobar food. Comfort plate rocked our soul. I will not pass through PT without coming to this place. Best night I ever spent in a basement.

Great food, great service, great drinks. The triple threat has arrived. This was a pleasant surprise on our weekend away. We will definitely be going back. We had some unique drinks and food. Our server was so attentive and made great suggestions. The ambiance is really fun and makes you feel like you are at an old speakeasy. If you are in PT for the day… it’s worth a stop.

Cute little place with friendly staff. We came on a Friday night after a long drive. We ordered the polenta with pork and wilted greens and the lamb sliders. Both were delicious! They have a nice selection of drinks, and had a live band. This was the first place we ate in Port Townsend, and nothing else came close!

The servers really went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. Great dirty martinis and great appetizers. Loved it!

Great ambiance. Food & drinks, whose description sounded wonderful, were terrible.(Dates were not good; broccoli rabe was poor. Salad was at best fair.) Food was bland, uninspired, and not worth it. We ended up walking away with lots of uneaten food and barely touched drinks. I haven’t had a meal this bad in a long time.

The house salad and fries that I had here were fine. Not outstanding but not bad, It was all I could find to eat here being a vegetarian. They couldn’t even do the pasta because they only had meat sauce. This is one of the few places in Port Townsend that is not vegetarian friendly and has no good gluten free options. The server was snooty and arrogant. The music started while we were eating and it was good. But the snooty waiter came right over and told us that even though we had just finished a full diner we had to pay the cover charge if we wanted to stay. Also one last thing. As a former fire safety professional, I have questions if this place is safe for occupancy. Both exits are at the entrance end of the restaurant so all occupants could be trapped by any fire that happened near the entrance. UPDATE: Please read the response from the business owner. I will go back and look at the options he mentioned and report back if there is more to this place than my first impression.

The ambiance can’t be beaten. Down some steep stairs to what feels like a speakeasy of yesterday, the place is chill and dark with low ceilings and decorations that are just interesting enough to make you wonder if there really are more spirits here than in the drinks. We are vegetarians, and it can be a pain to find a place that has reasonable offerings, but Cellar Door did not disappoint. We had the mushroom poutine, which was INCREDIBLE. I love poutine, and it’s awesome to find some that is vegetarian. I also have to give a big thumbs up for the service. They had a computer issue that made it take extra long to run our credit cards. The server was really nice and apologetic. She offered us drinks on the house, but since I had to drive to make the Bainbridge Ferry that night, we opted instead for free ice cream. The ice cream was delicious with a unique flavor that was not quite vanilla, but very tasty. We want to return to see the live music shows they have there. A weekend getaway to Pt. Townsend is in order!

I have no idea if the food was good or not. We paid a cover, sat down and decided what to order, then tried to order. We asked for truffle fries, mac and cheese, meatball sliders and the prawns. They were out of everything so we left. 8pm on a Saturday. Ridiculous.

Worth the hunt to find this place. Cool, underground setup, with lots of ambience. We had dinner before the rush on a Friday(any time before 8 according to the waitress). Cocktails were very interesting and tasted good. Although the house infusions could be a little stronger. Good was certainly the highlight. Tasty appetizers and delicious lamb sliders. Very much enjoyed the food.

We were in Port Townsend on a slow Monday and ran across this great little restaurant off the main drag. Food was tasty and the service was good. Unfortunately we were only in town for a day, but they also have music on some weekends.

Hip cellar with great menu. I would love to hang out here some foggy night and listen to Jazz. I liked the black ceilings with the inset coppered light fixtures. The Buffalo Balls were good not great. Next time we’ll give the leeks a whirl.
