East Wok

Trying to keep my old BMW going, and having raced out without even a bite of something, I stopped here for «breakfast» while waiting for my car.
How many Chinese restaurants have decent Wonton soup? Like none?! So that’s my first test. I tried Cantonese Wonton Soup, and East Wok passed with flying colors!
There is a new owner here, and he knows how to make a nice broth and terrific shrimp pork dumplings in a delicate thin dough. This soup comes with spinach — perfectly fresh.
Can’t wait to try other dishes on the menu! There are 3 sparkly clean eat-​in tables, and right now the place is packed with tables full and take-​out folks streaming in.

Good lord… if this place is one of the better chinese fast food take outs in the area, you guys are in serious trouble. Gen. Tsao chicken is soggy, no spice. The pork fried rice is just nasty, more like pork steam rice with way too much soy sauce. Not the worst chinese food I’ve ever had but it ranks right up there. Szechuan Garden in Harrison is your closest thing to very good chinese take out. I would not come back here, even if it’s free.

Got a quick meal to go after checking in to the Courtyard Rye. Quick service and food was pretty good. Very generous portions and when I asked for my Szechuan Tofu to be extra spicy it was! Will be back here again.

Not sure why this place has such a low overall rating. I come here once a week for lunch. Great deal at $ 6.40 for their lunch menu. This is one of the better Chinese Restaurants around the area. They give you a lot of food and they cook it very fast. There isn’t much of a wait time. I have eaten a lot of the items on the lunch menu and so far so good! The boneless spare ribs and sweet/​sour chicken are my two favorites. Both have been ordered a number of times and never disappoint.
The only complaint I have at this time is that there are only three tables inside. So if you want to eat there you have to either get lucky or wait for someone to get up (Which doesn’t happen often). It’s a minor complaint at best!

This used to be another restaurant but it must have recently changed hands.
The interior has been renovated and looks much nicer but I’ve always just done take out.
Lunch specials for about $ 5.75 with rice and soda the food portion is very generous; added an eggroll and it still came out to less than $ 8. Hard to beat!
