The four of us went to this horrible place on a suggestion from a friend. To put it mildly the food was inedible. The waiter really did not know what he was doing. The place does not have a name on the door. Not a good choice.

Ate here for the first time following a great recommendation. So glad we chose to try it. The pea soup was fantastic and clearly home made with loads of peas veggies and bacon. We also had a potato cake special with a salmon tartare that was excellent. Entrees were schnitzels for two of us(the Hawaiian with ham and pineapple and cheese and the Black Forest with mushrooms. Both were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of breeding. My husband had one of the daily specials which was a slow cooked beef roll with sauerkraut and a potato dumpling which was really tasty. We were really full from the meal but brought dessert home for later! The server was great — very knowledgeable and friendly and the owner/chef came out to chat after the meal. Great experience overall and I would highly recommend you try it out.

Best home cooking I’ve had at a restaurant. And I mean that as a compliment. Brought back memories of all our favorite off the beaten path great food places we love in Europe. Small friendly staff but big authentic flavor. Reasonable too.

We had read such good reviews on FB, we were eager to visit. There is a limited menu. We had an excellent waiter, and it is a cute little place. However, my pork tenderloin was tough and dry despite its’ golden color. I requested a substitute for the fried potatoes, which I received anyway; but they served some delicious, WARM, pickled red cabbage as well(my meat was so dry, I put the cabbage on the top). They did not serve my husband’s potato salad(explained because of the cabbage). The apple streusel was beautiful BUT disappointing. My husband’s spaghetti w/meat sauce special was pretty good. I don’t think we’ll go back(that goes for their affiliate, SANDRA’S in Punta Gorda as well).

Very attentive staff. Mathew is very friendly. The potato salad was the best I have ever had. The schnitzel sandwich was basic but delicious. Will definitely come back. The area is short on good places to eat.

Disappointed! That’s how we felt after dining at Taste of Europe Bistro yesterday evening. After reading the great reviews, we were looking forward to a great meal. I have to say, the restaurant is adorable! Everything is very clean and cute. There was a heavy smell of fryer grease hanging in the air which did not bode well. Our waiter was very professional and attentive. We had wanted to try some German beer and were surprised to find that they were only available in bottles. Personally, I felt that $ 7 for a 12oz beer was a bit excessive. There were 2 specials of the day — Hungarian Goulash with Spätzli and Hawaiian Schnitzel. We ordered one of each. My meal started off with salad — which was heavily dripping in dressing — and for some reason they added a scoop of coleslaw in the bowl with the salad. I was not pleased by that. Yes, I could have sent it back, but my husband likes coleslaw so he ate it. When our meals arrived, everything looked and smelled good. My husband said his schnitzel was unusual with ham, swiss cheese and pineapple on top. He said he would not order it again. My meal was served in a bowl — Spätzli on the bottom with Goulash over top. The Spätzli was so overcooked(perhaps it had been sitting in a hot water bath to keep it warm?) that it had the consistency of mush. The Goulash, which should have been spicy, was very bland. I picked out the meat and ate that, but left the rest. For dessert, we ordered Black Forest Torte slice to split. It was very dry and seemed quite stale. The total cost of our dinner including tip was $ 72. For that price, I would expect to be satisfied and full. We will not be back.

Best kept secret in Port Charlotte area. I’m sure the owners don’t want it to be a secret, but it is. We heard about it via a friend. In addition to a varied menu, there are daily specials. Tuesday is Hungarian Gulasch with spatzli. No, not misspelled. It’s the authentic spelling as is the meal. It’s a small place, located on Rt 41, north of Midway Blvd. As you enter you will be impressed by the greeting & by the décor. Very European looking an V E R Y C L E A N. Service was very prompt. Server knew the menu well. Yes, we had the Special. Outstanding! More food than we could consume. Sandra(owner?) came out from the kitchen to greet us and verify the meal was o.k. A nice touch. She to is very authentic. From Germany. Lastly, prices are very reasonable. Let’s keep them busy so as to help them make it through the Summer.

Friends of ours found this restaurant. The restaurant opened about 9 weeks before we were there the end of Feb. We called ahead for reservations because some days it is filled to capacity other days it is ok to walk in. The menu is mainly German with daily specials. We went on a Friday so the special was rouladen. So, of course, I ordered the special which included red cabbage and a potato dumpling. I am a huge fan of all of these items. My husband ordered the schnitzel with an egg on top — Hamburg schnitzel– another favorite with ff. Our friends ordered two other dishes. While we waited for our entrée they served some bread with tzatziki — another favorite! Obviously, I am having a great time. There were 6 or 8 tables of customers which made the staff pretty busy. The young men wait staff were delightful and personable. The wait time for our meals was reasonable, the food was very good, and the prices were about $ 13 per entrée. The owner stopped by and spoke to us. It was a good experience. We will go back the next time we visit. The restaurant is in the same parking lot as the Kallis butcher shop. It seems like the Kallis customers would enjoy this restaurant, too.
