Sandra oh sweet Sandra, what a sweet lady. The spaetzle is wonderful. The sautéed onions are out of this world; I’m guessing butter, sugar(to help with the caramelization), and a little bit of the magic«L» ingredient.. . lard. Whatever the mix might be(possibly unicorns) I believe it to be magic. The rest of the food wasn’t bad but not the best I’ve ever had; if looking for quality German food Stephan’s in Bonita is on point. The only downside to this establishment is the parking; our group was 10 seconds away from eating at a subpar burger joint because we couldn’t find a place to park. But alas, our love for beer and food kept us focused on our journey for parking and to our avail a glorious liter of German beer, and a top heavy waitress, awaited us upon arrival to sweet olé Sandra’s. That’s all I have to say about that. Lenny W.

So happy we looked for someplace different. This is truly a little gem in Punta Gorda. My daughter’s schnitzel cut with a fork, I had the pork hock and sauerkraut. If I was in my own kitchen I would have picked up the bone it was so good. Sauerkraut home made. German potato salad was very good. And what better than good German beer to wash it all down. Grilled feta skillet was also enjoyed by all. My only complaint is the pork hock is only available Friday’s. We will be back, still have to try the spätzle, potato pancakes and bread dumplings and we hope Marlene is our server again. She was very helpful explaining the menu to my daughter.

We walked into Sandra’s on a SATURDAY night at 8:28pm and we were turned away. The sign on the door reads 9pm. That seems a little ridiculous when we’re in the off season. Disappointing!

German food just like being back in Germany. Had many items off the menu as we have been there several times. Lunch buffet is good for a good quick meal and a big appetite. Brought my German mother in law and she loved it… Just like home.

Woke up this morning to find this in my e-mail, from the owner: «First of all Wienerschnitzel second i rember you, it is disappointing that you write things that never happened ! I was on your table apologize about the sold out veal. I gave you a dessert plate on us. nobody complained to me that day ! Now you think being anonym you complain afterwards ! Do your self and us a favour and do not come back !!!» As you can see, does not seem like the type of establishment that cares about it’s customers or the type of reputation it’s building. Nothing I wrote was false, everything happened exactly the way I wrote, I have 4 other people who were there that could confirm. Also, we DID complain that day, as I mentioned in my original review.

Beer is good, service is good and the food was cheap and tasty. When we come back to the area, we’ll definitely stop by for lunch :)

Great German Food. We were there during the world cup soccer games. Germany won. Such fun. Our boys 13 and 10 loved the buffet… the soup was authentic and tasted like my Grandmother’s soup from Poland. We went back a second time during our vacation. This place is a hidden gem. Great service was a plus. We were not sure about the desserts because we were stuffed from the buffet.

This is the largest excuse for a German restaurant I am a German descent and was born in Germany. I placed an order for simple German food. The service was absolutely lousy. As a matter of fact it was a joke. I let it go because I thought the food was going to be great. However much to my excitement the food was not good. Number one the sauerkraut was to sour. Number 2 the sausage was overcooked Number 3 the German potato salad was absolutely disgusting. Number four and most of all all the food came out and it was cold. I’m sorry for my experience or for telling you this how do I rate this restaurant. Wait I’ve got more News. I’m sorry I had to complain Now the owner came out. I calmly explain to my concerns and my complaints This guy flipped out in front of my wife and my company we paid the tab left and I will never ever set foot in this place again I suggest don’t go there. Please if you don’t believe me go there and see for yourself but my suggestion is go to kalis german butcher store on 41 and they will give you lessons on how to cook good German food. Good luck with your experience with this sau ficker

I know it was a busy day with Germany winning the World Cup! The food was good — please ask the Servers NOT to carry the beer by the rim of the glass! That is JUSTUN-GERMAN!

It was good and I would definitely go here again. We got the small buffet and got plenty to eat. I had just recently eaten at my first German restaurant in Indiana and so my expectations were very high! Maybe if I hadn’t eaten there before I would have given Sandra’s 4 stars.

Sandra’s is without a doubt our FAVORITE restaurant in Punta Gorda! We have eaten there many times since they opened and have never been disappointed. During winter season, the buffet is served at lunch — it’s a great place to stop for a quick meal at a great price. One of the best things about the buffet is the soup and bread! I could make a meal on that alone. We have tried a good number of items off the regular menu also and have been very pleased with each one. My overall favorite is the pan-seared Weiner Schnitzel with Red Cabbage and German Potato Salad. My husband is a fan of the Jäger Schnitzel with Sauerkraut and Potato Pancakes. For a special treat, try the Käsespätzle — delicious and cheesy! Of course, another reason to visit Sandra’s is the exceptional German beer — I am partial to the Bischoff Doppel Bock on tap! The atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming. The service is friendly and professional. The prices are reasonable — actually a great deal when you consider the quality! I can recommend Sandra’s to anyone and everyone!

The restaurant was clean and the server was friendly. My husband and I stopped in here as we were driving past and noticed the sign said German Food. Sandra didn’t sound very German but apparently she is. The food was authentic and yummy. They had a Brat all you could eat buffet with soup. Everything we tried was done to perfection.

Stopped in for a late lunch on the way to the airport. Had the whole joint to ourselves and that gave us pause. That was the end of any concern. Penny, our server, greeted us warmly and brought drink orders quickly. Cheerfully answered questions and volunteered information. Traveling partners ordered schnitzel, red cabbage, salad with walnuts and bleu cheese, «German Lunch» with Bratwurst on a German roll. I ordered schnitzel on pretzel roll with german potato salad. Orders were cooked and brought to the table quickly and courteously. Schnitzels were perfectly cooked(disagree with review that touts pan-fried). The pretzel roll was crusty on top with a little salt on it, soft in the middle. Held up well with the mustard/mayo mix and veggies on the sandwich. Potato salad could have had a touch more vinegar for my taste but it was quite good. Partners thought their choices were delicious. We will all return with more time to sample the many German beers with food that is bound to be good.

This is a beautiful establishment in the heart of Punta Gorda. We stopped here for a quick lunch on a weekday and found a place we will return to often. Atmosphere and seating: hostess seating in a roomy comfortable setting. Lots of wood furniture and antiquities make up the décor. There is a small bar where a group of locals gathered to talk over steins of german beer. Food: During our visit, a German buffet was offered. There were not a huge selection of choices but everything there was authentic tasting and very delicious. If you go on a Schnitzel buffet day– make sure that you try both the brown and the cream gravy. If you do not want a buffet, they do have a wonderful looking menu. Service: The service was attentive, friendly and efficient. If you are in Punta Gorda and craving German food, this is the place to go. Final Review: Great German Food!

I was fortunate to live in Gernany six years as a youth. Today’s buffet of schnitzel, German potatoes, potato fries, red cabbage and… drum roll please… a Dopple-Boch for my wife and me brought me back to those wonderful times. We were nervous about trying a buffet, but were more than satisfied. We ordered a couple of Apfelstrudels for tomorrow’s breakfast… no room after a full lunch!

Foods: As a fan of European cuisine, I was very interested in trying out Sandra’s. I would call their menu ‘mainly’ German, but they have an excellent selection of pasta, several non-German salads, and a dish I have fallen in love with, their Hungarian goulash. If you’re new to this sort of food, I would highly recommend starting with the Mixed Euro plate($ 15) which comes with a bratwurst, a pork schnitzel, and a cup of goulash with one side of your choice. This will give you a nice introduction to the menu, and is big enough it could be shared by two if you weren’t both starving-hungry. Also: nice selection of apps. Note: If you don’t read German, the waitstaff will explain any items on the menu for you. Drinks: Excellent selection of German beers on tap in several styles(pilsner, lager, black lager, doppelbock to name a few). I think they are up to five taps, and a bottle selection numbering around the mid-twenties. Several standard American beers in there too for the Budweiser crowd. Also: ask about their Mug Club(I just joined up.) The MC covers the Celtic Ray Public House and Shorty’s Place as well. The wine selection is plentiful without being overwhelming. No hard drinks. Atmosphere: The one thing I noticed more than the décor, was that place is clean. Super clean. Music plays through the service through house speakers, and on weekends the servers wear dirndls(those Octoberfest dresses) Overall: Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
