Hong Kong Taste

Good food for what it is. Have been going here for years, quality went down hill but now is better. This is the only decent take out in the area. It’s more like 3.5 stars.

Not the best, but definitely not the worst chinese food I’ve had. The woman at the counter was very nice and helpful. Will return for take out!

My husband and I decided to try Hong Kong Taste a couple months back and I’m glad we did! We usually order the shrimp and broccoli and the General Tsao’s Chicken. They are both delicious! If you spend $ 15 you get a free egg roll and if you spend $ 30 you get a free order of fried wontons. Im glad we’ve made this our go-​to Chinese restaurant! We will absolutely be back!

This used to be a «go to» place for me where I could consistently get fresh tasty Chinese food quickly. A change of owners of managers (not sure which) caused a bit of a decline but overall food was still acceptable. Tonight proves to be the last time I will deal with HKT. Tonight we placed a small order for delivery (2 combo dinners and an order of steamed dumplings) via the on line order system. It was confirmed. Over ONE HOUR later I called to see where the order and was told «oh it’s on it’s way — we are very busy tonight». TWENTY minutes later the guy shows up — we told him we could not accept the food (as we now has to leave for work) — no apologies no anything but the same «oh we are very busy tonight — you have to understand». I told him an hour and half PLUS wait for 3 items from a place that is literally 10 minutes away was completely unacceptable. He left — again no apologies
No anything. So we are left heading to work food less and hungry and Hong Kong Taste has lost another customer.

After moving to West Milford New Jersey in the early spring, we were going through Chinese Food Withdrawal… that was until Last Night! Found Hong Kong Taste on the web; ordered on the web– friendly service, accurate order and GREAT FOOD!
It’s now our «go to» restaurant for Chinese. The only one fault I found was they REALLY need more parking, but as we got our food «to go» my husband could just doublle park.

I was a fan of Hong Kong Taste way back at their old location, where the lighting was dim and the tables were sticky. They’ve since moved into a well-​lit, liberally windowed, and spotless locale next to Thatcher’s in Pompton Lakes. Hong Kong Taste is the pinnacle of cheap Chinese food: hot, greasy, and delicious. When I’ve had a bad day, I come here to make it better. The staff is genial and attentive, and they’ve accommodated every ridiculous last-​minute change I’ve thrown at them. I place my orders online, and they’re always accurate and prompt. My only complaint is the parking, which I would recommend doing off to the side.

I ran in one late night after work for a quick takeout order. The store front is rather large, but was pretty empty. There was also an icky musty smell inside. I don’t think I would have been able to dine in given the musty odor.
Ordered a scallion pancake (huge serving, but overly fried. It was a extra crispy), and a veggie lo mein. I personally have a huge problem with restaurants adding unnecessary filler to their lo mein — I’m talking about lettuce. Please stop doing this! It’s not good.
On a bright note, the staff was really friendly, and the service was quick.

Nothing too spectacular. They seem to be under new ownership or management now and the food tastes differently to me. I typically get a vegetarian mock meat dish and their sesame «chicken» isn’t as crispy as it used to be under the old management. The staff are very friendly and customer service is good, however. I must say that I do miss the old staff personally. Would recommend if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat and nothing too fancy.

Three stars: «A-​OK.»
