I’m Italian(by way of my parents, who are both from Italy) and I’ve visited countless times, so I can say with all honesty and a little bit of background knowledge that the pizza here is good — much better than average pizza in Florida. Try the Tricolore. If you’re a fan of spinach, it’s delicious. I’ve had the Grandma’s before and liked it. The fried calamari here is great as well. Wine can be pricey, so keep an eye out for that.

This is the first negative review I’ve ever given for a business on Unilocal, however after the experience tonight it is COMPLETELY warranted. BEWARE We ordered rolls, pizza, wings and a 2ltr soda for a grand total of 48. I live literally 5 mins if that from Umberto’s and I’ve eaten there before so I know the food is decent and don’t mind paying more for quality. We were told delivery would take 30 mins, when we called over an hour later we were told that the delivery person was going to be here in a minute. We called back again 20 minutes later and were told the driver tried to call us, which was a complete lie as we had not received a phone call. Then were told the driver had the wrong phone number and again would be calling and or arriving shortly. We finally received a call from the driver 20 minutes later. When our food arrived it was cold and the box was soggy, actually everything was soggy as though it had been sitting for awhile. We refused the food, if you’re going to charge almost 50 bucks for a pizza and wings you need to deliver quality food, not something that looks like it was sitting under a lamp for two hours or taken out of a dumpster. Two hours of my life that I will never get back wasted by incompetence and terrible customer service. When I called back to ask them to credit my credit card, I didn’t even receive an apology. There are several places in this area that deliver quality food and customer service, better places, I’m sorry to say this is no longer one of them.

They’ve been in business forever, and for a good reason. I used to go here all the time as a kid and I just stopped in for the first time in over a decade and the food was even better than I remembered. Garlic rolls brought me back for a second time on my week long trip. Calzone is still my go to option. Get the big one though because my travel mates were looking like they would fight me for my left overs. Satisfied completely with food, service, and atmosphere. My only complaint was our waiter smelled like a human cigarette as he delivered our entrees. But didn’t bother me too much.

Two words: Authentic Italian! I know, not because I’m Italian — I’m not. I know, because about half of the customers on a busy weekend night were Italian. Loved the ambience, good food, good price, good service. :)

Sadness I was really hungry. Perhaps I ordered too late(8:30 pm) but even the garlic bread was oily and soggy. My sister had anchovy pizza. The crust was meh and the pizza sauce was sweet with no tang. Certainly not great. I ordered sautéed broccoli rabe. It must have been sitting in a warmer… totally soggy, a lot of liquid on the bottom, and even the sautéed garlic was mush. I hate giving negative reviews but this place deserved it. There are too many good Italian restaurants in Pompano for them to be so sloppy, especially with Unilocal reviews so available.

Decent … I’ve had way better pizza and pasta. We ordered grandmas which was bland … Then the spicy pizza was good. The best they had to offer was there garlic bread although very undercooked the garlic oil it came with was amazing! I would go back just to try another pasta dish maybe their fettuccine Alfredo isn’t their best.

Consistent, cheap and cheerful. Food is good, the garlic rolls are yum! They deliver, so pizza on the beach is a beautiful thing!

* Menu price for my entrée was $ 3 higher than on their web site. * Server told me that all their salad dressings were homemade — the ranch dressing certainly is not. * The garlic bread was piled with an oily garlic and herb mixture that made the bread super greasy — also disappointing because the bread had a nice, homemade texture and if prepared correctly would probably been a highlight of the meal. * The Alfredo sauce lacked taste and richness — I doubt that it was made with real cream and butter — and I had to add salt, pepper, and Parmesan(which I had to ask for) to get it down. * Extra ½ star for the tiramisu; it was tasty and definitely homemade. Might consider giving their pizza a shot down the road, but otherwise I doubt I’ll be back; I expected a lot more from an «authentic» Italian restaurant in Pompano Beach, of all places: 2.5 stars.

Umberto’s is an average Italian restaurant. It is a decent choice for a quick and inexpensive dinner when you really want Italian food. The pizza is probably slightly above average for Florida and the other menu options are just average.

Overpriced, tasteless food; the place needs a good scrubbing and/or new décor. The service was friendly and courteous.

My parents and I found this little gem about a year ago and patron this restaurant every Saturday night during«season» for pizza. I find the staff to be friendly, the pizzas are seasoned well, and we’ve never had issues with the food.

Every time we come to FL this is usually our 1st stop. Love the seafood and pasta dish. Special today was grilled Octopus –so good and not rubbery at all

Their brick oven pizza is perfect every time. Clams are always great and the chicken parm sandwich is phenomenal. They treat you like you are old friends.

I worked in a family Italian restaurant growing up and never found another place I liked as much… until now. Umbertos was great! I did take out but they have a great atmosphere inside and live music on certain nights. The gnocchi was fantastic and the price is good for the amount of food you get! I’ll be back!

It’s little places like this that remind us what Italian food is supposed to taste like. A chain restaurant like Olive Garden simply doesn’t compare. When you walk in the first thing you smell is. fresh garlic! On many nights they have live music, and the patio will likely be full of Italian people dancing and having a good time. Another sign the food here is authentic as it gets. Aside from the many delicious pasta dishes on the menu, which you can usually customize. their pizza. and I must mention the Stromboli, is hands down the best in Pompano. I’ve lived here for two years and have been to every Italian place around, and it’s the only one getting five stars from me.

Stopping real quick for a pizza to go. I just love Joe’s restaurant and always try to come here when I’m in the area I got a pizza with everything on it I guess you would call it too plain kind of like the person I’m with lol. We’re taking it home for us to eat dad has his own dinner so everyone is set for the night.

This has been and always will be our favorite spot for pizza, and that would be the Grandma’s Pizza — square, of course. Can’t live without it when we go to Florida! THEGARLICROLLSAREEVERYTHING! As far as the other food here, the fish pastas are great like the calamari fradiablo and linguini with clams. I love the chicken francese and lasagna as well! All entrees come with a little salad, love their creamy italian dressing. Their marinara is pretty plain, and I’m a bit of a sauce snob because we make our own so I don’t order that here. They do have dozens of options though and a great kids menu. Go for the grandmas pizza!

I’ve gone here oodles of times, always had a good meal at a reasonable price though I’ve never had their Pizza. Why not? Well, it’s simply been because their other menu foods and their daily specials, always updated and listed on a blackboard where you enter, are so darn good I’ve never given a thought to settling for a pizza even though it is their specialty. Instead I usually go for a good Caesar which they prepare with anchovies upon request, a simple spaghetti consisting of olive oil and garlic or the spaghetti with garlic, olive oil, fresh tomato and basil along with a main entrée of veal francaise. They also whip up some really good chicken marsala, chicken parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana and an eggplant rollatini plus, from the bar, they always serve a good drink or wines by the glass of full measure. The fact is that Umberto’s is so much more than pizza restaurant. The best thing about this location of Umberto’s is that it is particularly friendly with a casual warm inviting atmosphere about it. I’ve gone to their other Lauderdale location on Commercial, to which I only awarded Three Stars, and though it is somewhat more modern and up to date with décor, the food at this location seems to always taste better as well as a more comfortable atmosphere about it.
