This is a great establishment, they are all students learning to be world class servers, chefs, and managers! The food is of high quality and the service excels, everyone is very friendly, polite, and nice! Plus their beer and wine list rock and are affordable, especially on the wine side

We decided to meet our daughter here for dinner to celebrate her last year at Cal Poly Pomona. They were serving the Spring prefixed menu. The evening started with a selection of white wine, sparkling wine, or red wine. With the drinks came teriyaki meatballs and fried mushrooms. Both were yummy. We were seated and made our selections from the menu. We tried the dirty fries, the salmon spread, and the Mexican shrimp cocktail. All three were great. Our 2nd coursed came next, my wife and daughter got the flat iron steak. The steak was a bit tough, but had good flavor and cooked to medium rare. The Chinese broccoli that was the side was over-cooked and dry. My calamari steak was okay, not the best I have had. I didn’t care for the polenta that came with it. Our desserts were the peanut butter cheesecake, the banana split, and the lemon shortcake. The desserts were good. It was not the greatest of meals, but it was good seeing the students using what they have learned.

I came here with my roommate last night and it was such a pleasant surprise! We had complementary finger food while we waited for a table and once we were seated, we were greeted with a very nice waitress. Bottom line… The food is great and the price isn’t too bad either for 3 courses! Definitely going back again with family.

Came here for the Soft Opening of the Spring 2016 Dinner. Servers were still training but our server, Rachel did a great job! She was very attentive to our table. Food was great. I had the shrimp cocktail, salmon and banana split sundae. All for $ 25 since it was the soft opening. Sarah was also really great!

This restaurant is a fantastic integration into Cal Poly’s Hospitality curriculum. Came to visit and support a friend who was working as a student, and was pleasantly surprised with my experience. The interior is beautiful, with glass panel walls and high ceilings. When you first enter you can also see the students operating the entire kitchen. I had pork belly tater tot nachos(a lil salty) and salmon w/truffle risotto(so good). Dishes of the same caliber at any commercial American restaurant would have been priced much higher. I believe the menu is seasonal which is always fun :)

The students go above and beyond to make the dining experience here a fabulous one. Even got a private violin solo at our table. Will go again soon.

I really like what they’re doing here. I was on campus installing audiovisual equipment in some classrooms and had lunch here two days in a row. Basically this is a working restaurant teaching students, whether it be customer service, greeting, reservations, or cooking in the kitchen. Tips are not allowed, but you can make a donation to the program. Mileage varies based on who you get as your server, naturally, so you work with some and you enjoy others. Food was generally well made, portions were generous, and for one, there was tons of cheese on something I ordered as opposed to it being more of a garnish. If you’re there, please help them out. Five stars just because I’m glad to help and this is worth supporting.

How could I not love it? My son was acting manager for the night, so naturally everything was PERFECT. OK… really… It’s a little hard to find; it’s on campus but if you are not familiar with the campus for Hospitality management, you might(you will) get a little lost. Even our GPS got confused, because the actual address is not what they say it is. Once you find it I think you will be happy you did. This whole operation is run by the students of the program; they work each part of the restaurant during the quarter so it’s all hands on, with of course, great instructors. The food was good, the service was good and the wine list is good. Prices are certainly reasonable, and the restaurant boasts great views of the campus. LindySez: All in all a great experience. I loved supporting the students and actually helping them learn their trade.

I really enjoyed this place! Came during my friends management week of the restaurant in April. I was very impressed with the level of professionalism that was displayed by all the students. I would have not thought that this was a student run organization. The food was delicious. Service was good. Everyone was extremely friendly. And the location of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Good job to all the students!

This is one of those places where you’re sure to be amazed. It’s not just the food that is impressive, but also the fact that it is a facility ran by Hospitality students at Cal Poly Pomona. A 3 course meal will run you about $ 45 bucks here, but it is so worth it. I had the Ceviche appetizer which was a bit on the zesty side and I thoroughly enjoyed that. My girl had the steamed duck buns which were way more flavorful than the tradional Peking duck that you would get at authentic Chinese places. The lamb i ordered was on point! It was juicy and tender and I couldnt help but smile when I bit into it. And finally dessert… I got a fluffy chocolate cake that had espresso cream. My two favorite things combined together to make heaven. Finally shout out to the Service Manager Melodye! This little sweetheart kept check up on our table and making sure that we were happy with our experience. Our server, Amy was quite the bubbly one and kept us entertained throughout the night. Definitely would go again.

Well as a fellow CPP student I may be biased especially since a friend of mine was manager for the week. But overall service was decent and the food is just as I remember it. A little rough around the edges but as a reminder these are students and they do make mistakes. I also have to stress that it does take them a few weeks to get used to everything. Overall a great place to take your family and friends or even a significant other. Always make a reservation first!

This review is the culmination of about 5 years of dining here, where my daughter had went to school. Now that she has her degree, I regret not being able to come to the restaurant as frequently. I’ve gotten it down to a science of when the best times to dine are. The first weeks of the quarter, students are learning their trade and each has to serve in various capacities of restaurant operations from busing and waiting tables, to the management and cooking of the foods. It is quite an experience to see the students in the beginning, and how many of them are shy, because this might be their first time waiting on patrons. At the end of each quarter, there is a nice buffet lunch available to show off the skills these culinary arts students have learned. There are pastas, breakfast items, roast beef, turkey, potatoes, salads, and of course, my favorite, desserts. We enjoy talking with the students and finding out what their plans are after they finish their time at the school. I’ve found out that many famous restaurant owners have come through the Kellogg culinary school, which has a related hotel management curriculum as well. If your interests go further into restaurants, I would highly recommend this location for starters.

The restaurant is on the Cal Poly Pomona campus. It is, in fact, student-operated, serving as a training facility for students in the hospitality program. Your server, the reception staff, the cooks, the bartender, all are students. They are under the supervision, at all times, of faculty on the floor and in the kitchen who coach them and, at times, correct them. The menu varies each quarter term, and they are open for lunch and dinner. There is a fairly good wine and beer list, and prices are reasonable. Interestingly, as the students working in the restaurant are technically«in class,» there is no tipping. Of course, they do appreciate suggestions about their service, food comments, and so forth, as that is how they improve. The food can be quite good, depending on who is cooking! I’ve never had a bad meal here in probably 2 – 3 lunches and a good half dozen or more dinners(most of the dinners have been with a wine group), but, with such a set-up, there is bound to be some variability. If I lived closer, I’d eat here more frequently. It is a wine-friendly environment, the view from the hill top location, night or day, is terrific, and the atmosphere with the young students eager to learn and to please make for an extremely pleasant experience. It’s a good date night place, too!

Touch of class prepared by a class. Picture you attempting to please hundreds of people with your first impressions on your dining experience, except you’re the one preparing the meals for people that came for their special occassion. A dining experience with a spectacular view and best of all, it’s all prepared by students studying to be chef’s. We had an excellent hummus plate with some grape leaves and carrots and bakalava to try. The food was well prepared, tasty and met our expectations. The fine nice lady I had mentioned in the photo was very kind, informative and sincere person I’ve ever met. I think that she was the instructor. I admire these young chefs entering a profession with such admirable skills and I do thank them for the great experience that we had there.

This place is truly a hidden gem. Located at Cal apply Pomona’s Collins School it is open M-F for lunch and dinner during school. I have been going here with the family for about 5 years now. Went recently for a birthday dinner. They used to have a preset menu(appetizer, entrée and dessert) for $ 35. They are now an al a cart restaurant with a nice selection of apps, entrees, desserts and a wine and beer bar. Everyone should go here at least once, you will be impressed. Chef Scott does a fantastic job in the kitchen and Barbara runs the front of the house with all the polite students.

I once heard that Cal Poly had a fine dining restaurant ran by students who are working as unpaid interns. My friend, who is currently an HRT major, had to dine here for a class project and asked me to accompany him as a +1. I gladly accepted the invitation because I wanted to see what this place is all about. It was interesting to see and learn(from my friend) about all the things that go on in a fine dining restaurant. There is so much detail that a lot of people like me take for granted. For instance, the details even go down to where the creases on the table linens should point! If I’m not mistakened, the food here is prepared by students. They had free appetizers out in the waiting area: — stuffed mushrooms — crab cakes(amazing!) — bruschetta The dinner menu was pre fixe for about $ 35: WHAT I ORDERED: — pork belly and cheese grits — prime rib(+$ 5) — berry crisp Everything i got was pretty mediocre. I ordered my prime rib medium rare but they waitress told me they’ve overcooked it and asked if medium was okay. I went ahead with the medium but it came out well done(–1 star). The highlights of my meal was either the creamed spinach that came with the prime rib or the ice cream that came with the berry crisp. Overall, I was not impressed by the food here but the experience made up for it. Everyone was extremely friendly here. I like the overall concept and support what they are trying to do with this restaurant and for that I give it +1 star!

Can I say a romantic atmosphere at night?! You look outside the window from the restaurant at you see the beautiful city lights. It is a breathtaking view. Anyways, I’ve been going to this school for a while and I haven’t heard of this place until I took the beer and wine classes on campus. The food was exceptional, both times we had delicious four-course meals. I decided to come back for lunch with a friend. We were both greeted by the server, which introduced us to the wine selections of the day. Then we were seated at the bar. On the menu, they have salads, burgers, paninis, ravioli, chicken curry, etc. There’s quite a variety. I mean nowhere near as extravagant as most restaurants, but keep in mind it’s run by students. We both got the RKR burger with fries and it was actually pretty good. The prices were average and the wait time wasn’t that bad. Overall, it was a good dining experience!

Keep in mind it is run by students! I suggest going the week before finals week. during the last week they have a buffet and the students are basically receiving their grade from their service and you rate them upon it! Get 5 star service without the 5 star price. The students want a good grade so you’ll be treated top notch. You’ll be greeted like 5 times before you reach your seat and you’ll never have a half empty glass. They’re constantly checking up on you to take your plate, see if you need anything or if they can get anything for you. The buffet is also offered in the beginning of the quarter but I don’t recommend this since it’s a new bunch of students in a new quarter and there’s a higher likelihood of being some sort of mistake in cooking or service.
