Delicious fresh fish and chips! Friendly service and most of all the food is wonderful!

This is EXACTLY the type of place I like to find when on an adventure trip up to Tahoe. We were really hungry after a long morning of snowmobiling and were trying to find a good place to eat on the way back down 50. We pulled off in Pollock Pines, knowing that there had to be some restaurants there. We checked online and drove around a bit, and then found New Haven and decided to give it a try. From the moment you walk in, you get the feeling that you’re in for a treat. The building and décor inside are both very quaint and welcoming. Our server, Pamela, was fabulous. She took the time to tell us about everything great(which was just about everything) on the menu, and we were certainly not disappointed. The clam chowder was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Their fish ‘n’ chips were REAL with a delicious batter. One person in our group ordered a Cobb Salad, and it was amazing. And to the other reviewers who complained about the prices — if you want cheap, go to Taco Bell — and have fun with that. If you want real food, prepared right, you’re going to pay for it. I found the prices here to be in line with the quality and the location. No complaints. So glad to have a new favorite spot on my radar for next time up to Tahoe.

Cold soup warm service. Has pizzas to bake at home from looks of clientele. Burger was okay, chicken same. Enroute To Tahoe This Is Easy IN Easy Out

Cold fresh beer on tap. I had the house salad with blue cheese which was fresh and crisp. Also had the cheesesteak sandwich, was a fresh roll with grilled mushrooms and onions quite tasty. The service was quick.

I have to agree with the negative reviews. The food is definitely premade, frozen or whatever. I had cod, it was rubbery and had gristle’s in it. The rice was awful. Price high. Have not tried the pizzas, but from what I’m reading I’ll head over to Pizza Dene in Placerville or any other place. I’m so sorry because it used to be so good many years back; it’s such a nice, cute, relaxing establishment.

Food was dull, could have been made easily at home. I would have rather eaten a bag of salad from the grocery store. Unfriendly staff. I will not eat here again.

Still love it, been coming here for 2 years, it’s always so good. This is a very small operation, the restaurant is not impressive, the service is hit & miss, but only because they only have 1 waitress doing it all, and she works her butt off, so if your not in a hurry, just sit back & relax & enjoy a leisurely meal. It’s worth it! !

To Garrett S., you are not a local here in Pollock Pines, your profile says you live in Roseville. Do yourself(and all of us LOCALS) a real favor and stay in the city.

Love finding little hole in the walls, or greasy spoons(Not that New Haven are any of those), after a visit to a lake. Was our first time at Sly Park in Pollock Pines. Asked the gate staff where to get a great burger and they suggested the Burger Barn. So we went and it was closed(a Sunday evening). Luckily, New Haven is right next door and was open. I had the JJ Double cheeseburger. It was very tasty along with the onion rings. There was like 20 items I wanted on the menu! Friendly staff and a nice patio.

I am a local here in Pollock Pines. Unfortunately you should skip this local pub. If I could give this place a negative rating I would. It took 1 hour and 25 minutes for us to get our food AFTER we ordered. No one stopped by our table even once to offer us any more water, give us an update on the food, nothing! The owner walked past our table numerous times and so did the waitress. My wife and I both got the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Waitress said this is awesome… But when it came out the bread was VERY stale and tasted microwaved and the cheesesteak was nothing to brag about. If you want a French fries that taste like something out of a bag from Walmart then make sure you get the fries. Bottom line go somewhere else. Anywhere but here. If you do go here do so at your own risk. Unless they make some drastic changes they won’t be in business for much longer.

One $ sign? Should be at least 2 if not $$$. I’d give one star, but the service was excellent. The food was tasty, but not amazing, and if you pay $ 30 for one person to have 1 beer, salmon, baked potato and clam chowder, you shouldn’t leave hungry. Can’t believe how small my salmon was!

Ordered a ‘fish platter’ — all my favorites!!! Was expecting a nice, fresh platter of freshly cooked fish… Well, what we got was fried EVERYTHING!!! I asked the waitress to bring a menu over so I could check, and the word FRIED was nowhere in the description of my meal!!!

Great pork ribs a great portion sizes, also recommended the salmon and one of my favorite five alarm burger. I love to support local businesses definitely a great place to eat. I love that they carry local wine like boger Barbera from a great local winery in the heart of Apple hill growers association. Go and enjoy their food.

Disappointed! My preference is to always support the local economy, but $ 18 for a half portion of frozen salmon accompanied with a few overcooked soggy vegies and rancid garlic bread. Yuk! We ate here a few years ago and didn’t care for the food or service then, but thought we’d give it another try. I tend to avoid fast food, but the nearby Taco Bell is the safer option to ease hunger pains. Or, head down the hill to the Crystal Basin Bistro in Camino for a delicious experience.

After staying several times in Pollock Pines for our annual family snow trip, we finally stopped by New Haven for take-out this year. We ordered a large(it would probably be regarded as a medium anywhere else) Hawaiian pizza and a ravioli meal off the kid’s menu. The pizza was okay — not bad, not spectacular and a fair value at about $ 14 for 8 slices. The ravioli, however, was way over-priced at $ 8.00 and change, considering it was exactly four medium-sized raviolis with sauce and a sliver of garlic bread. I felt horribly ripped off by this. From my experience and from what I can glean from other reviewers, this place is okay to go to if you know what to order and what to avoid. The pizza is a go; the items on the kids’ menu is definitely not.

We go to The New Haven at least once a week. It’s quaint and friendly and the service is fabulous! The gals are friendly and outgoing and welcoming. The food selection is ample and you can always count on it being cooked perfect! Daily specials are a variety and you really can’t compare this place to any other place in Pollock. Nothing compares. Outside seating on the patio in the Winter or Summer is comfortable.

My significant other and I stopped here yesterday(Sunday) for an early dinner after a day-long hike. He ordered a double cheeseburger with garlic fries, and I ordered a Caesar Salad with chicken. I usually order a hamburger, but wanted a salad this time. I have to say I was extremely disappointed in what I got for $ 11.90! The greens were fresh, but there just wasn’t enough to be considered a meal. The greens were $ 7.95, and it cost $ 3.95 to add chicken. There MAY have been 1⁄8 cup of chopped grilled chicken. Definitely not $ 4 worth! Usually when I order a Caesar with chicken, I get half of a grilled breast for $ 3.95 or so. Since I was still hungry, we ordered a home-made cobbler with ice cream, which was also overpriced and had a funny taste. There were big chunks of apple, but the flavor was a bit off-putting. And we missed the extremely efficient & friendly waitress who used to manage the place! Had this been my first experience with this restaurant, I would have given it 2 stars, but I’m giving it 4 because I’ve had good food and good service in the past. We will try it one more time, but will not order the Caesar salad. Ever. Last time we were there we met the new owner and he really does want to please his guests by serving great food at a fair price. I really want this place to be successful, too, because I like the idea of a local«gem.»

We’ve eaten here a couple of times, meaning the first time wasn’t epic by any means, but tolerable enough for us to try it again. We had burgers the first time which took 45 minutes to get with only our table and one other. Our burgers were over cooked and premade patties. Went back to give it one more shot, my husband got the fried chicken. Very poor decision unless you enjoy Tyson premade fried chicken and I tried a Philly cheese steak sandwich. A few hours later after we got home I was throwing it up and ended up with the worst stomach ache ever. We won’t be going there again. Slow slow service, precooked frozen foods, and over priced for the quality and quantity to be honest.

So we showed up 12 deep on a sunny Sunday afternoon coming home from camping and Pamela didn’t flinch at our arrival. We sat on the patio, which I would recommend any time of the season, and it was perfect. Pamela provided excellent service for the only person waiting on the entire place and made some pretty funny banter. We are SERIOUS about customer service and she made this an awesome experience. Food breakdown: Hamburgers — DALISH! You only need one patty — trust me. Fries — eeehhh Chicken strips — holy delicious chicken. Beer — COLD We will definitely return to this place. Hey Owner — Pamela is a keeper!

Nice place for lunch. Pleasant patio perfect for enjoying a mountain summer afternoon. The service was prompt and efficient. The fish and chips were very good, nicely battered, crisp and golden. The fries were hot and crisp. The meal, which came with a fresh side salad, was priced properly as well. Very satisfied. Will return. I’m reserving one star because: I have to try some other items The inside was sort of dark and dated. (note to restauranteurs everywhere– dark and dated does not equal retro chic, it just equals dark and dated. Most of the people traveling up and down the hlll live in the here and now so it pays to stay up to date) No reason the patio here shouldn’t be packed on summer afternoons. A really nice place to sit and relax, drink some wine and chill. A great find in Pollock! Needs a website.
