It was Valentine’s yesterday & we were talking about good, old-style candy stores and the topic went to Kemnitz. A few years ago a business where I worked received a couple big boxes of Kemnitz candy for Christmas. I enjoyed them so when my birthday came around, told my sweetie that I would love some chocolate truffles from Kemnitz. Now I don’t like nuts. I don’t like peanut butter, pistachio, almond, walnut, macadamia, etc. My sweetie went to Kemnitz and requested a box of truffles NONUTS and gave them to me for my birthday. The very first one I bit into was some flavor, maybe hazelnut(?) which to me tasted just like peanut butter which I despise and I spit it out into the garbage. WTF??? I called my sweetie, and asked if this was some sort of cruel joke??? Noooo, supposed to be ‘chocolate truffles no nuts’. Well they certainly weren’t ‘no nut’ and not wanting any more nasty tasting surprises I took a trip over to the store. The girl who packed the box of chocolates was still working. I explained the original request and asked why I was tasting peanut butter flavored. She gave some stupid response which caused me to ask for a refund. She started to refuse until I promised to file a credit card dispute since it was apparent she had not fulfilled the original order. Even when I called later & asked to speak to the manager I got a response which made no sense — something about most people like to have a variety. Great for them but that’s not what was requested — in fact directly opposite. Since then, I have enjoyed Shackalod in AA or Livonia. Bummer that Kemnitz staff & management is clueless.

I haven’t been to Kemnitz in a while, but their candy is to die for! The Raspberry Dark Chocolate creams are my favorite! The staff is always super friendly and they also have super good frozen yogurt.

Just ordered and received some milk chocolate peanut clusters and dark chocolate orange creams. It’s great that you can get a few of these and a couple of those, in either milk or dark chocolate to suit your tastes. Love, love, love this place! Consistently excellent quality chocolates for those of us who care about taste. Thank goodness they mail candy so I can still get it here in the Denver area.

We have been coming in here for years for our holiday candy needs. Traditionally this is our first christmas candy stop. Chocolate bells and balls and the sugared christmas gum drops are an absolute must! Fresh and delightful. We usually send a bunch to the nieces and nephew when they cannot make it up here. We usually get some dark and milk chocolate cherries. When my gran had cancer it was one of the only things she would eat at the end and only from here. Easter has them featuring a wide variety of chocolate animals, not just bunnies. I am a fan of the ducks but my sister usually gets a squirrel. My nieces love horses and my nephew likes tradition so he gets a rabbit. The people in here are local and longtime Plymouth, they remember you and even if they don’t you will get great service with a smile.
