This place was just okay. Averaged 2.5 stars each visit, sometimes a pastry would reach 3-star status. Makes sense that they closed down, I guess. Still sad to see a mom n pop shop close, and now an empty corner building right in the heart of downtown Pleasant Hill.

I strolled in after strutting out of European Wax Center as I was looking for some brioche bread to purchase. While I didn’t find brioche because they don’t make it, I did find a charming little bistro that offer more seating the further you venture back. The selection of pastries and breakfast food items is typical — nothing too extravagant or sock-knocking-off but the latte I ordered was the PERFECT temperature and balanced. This will definitely be a favorite when needing a snack or a cup of coffee when in the area.

I have a voracious sweet tooth. The pastry counter… OMG. I wanted one of everything. I ended up getting the cream Napoleon, which was absolutely perfect. The cream was just right and made the inner pastry layers soft but not soggy and still crisp on top with a dusting of confectioner’s sugar and a glazed strawberry. Just how it should be. Can’t speak for their food– have not gotten past the pastry case yet ;-) Selections include pear and apple tartin, mini apple pies, other mixed fruit glazed tarts, macarons, tiramisu, Boston cream pie(will get that next time, it looked heavenly), red velvet cake, and a cornucopia of other delicacies. Dessert for both of us was $ 10. What’s the fuss about the money? You want better qualify food, you pay more. That’s life. Want to eat for a buck– McDonald’s is right down the street. Conveniently located across the street from Peet’s, who gets ALL my coffee business.

I love this place! I come here to study, and they never seem to mind me spending multiple hours here(I always order food and drinks, and they often give me free coffee refills!) I love their pastries, so delicious. I ususally try a different one each time, never been disappointed. And the people working here are so nice! I would definitely recommend a visit to ShaadZee. p. s. They don’t play awful, distracting pop music, which is a huge plus for me.

the place is OVERPRICED. really nice layout, and with a pretty extensive selection of drinks and food. I was actually surprised to see middle-eastern food there. We stopped by for a mid-day snake/hot coco. I had the turkish coffee with was a-ok, and the wife had a carmel mocha that she really didn’t enjoy. the pastries were ok, but they have a really nice layout. did I say that already :-)

Food was fine but service was so bad/slow and prices so expensive that I’d never go back. Yo Yo

One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. It started off bad when we were sat at our table. They had not wiped down the table as it still had crumbs and some sticky syrup on it. I ended up brushing it off myself. Ordered up breakfast and it took 45 mins to get to us. When it did it was a disaster. Sausage was near raw. Toast was dry(not buttered) and they didn’t bring any to the table. All the food was relatively cold. I imagine it had been sitting waiting for the server to bring it out for some time. Not going back again.

Pastries galore can be found in their cases. In another case, find quiches and peroshkis! My sis and I associate a peroshki with our childhood so I texted her that I found a spot that carries them sorta near her work. I ordered one and texted her back saying, nevermind. It was sort of filled with some kind of pasta sauce. Normally it’s meat and cheese. I then ordered a salad to go and it came out to be $ 15.39. Kind of expensive for a salad topped with nothing special. The staff is decent, not overly welcoming or friendly. I’ve never had a problem parking on the street here but I can see how it could be a pain.

I’ve wanted to try this little bistro out for a while but it never worked out until tonight. When we arrived it was pleasant to be in the outdoors seating with a water fountain covering up the noise from the street. We ordered our sandwiches and waited and waited some more. Another couple came in 10 minutes after we did, ordered a complete meal, and had it delivered before our food. The wait staff was remarkably inattentive, we had to ask for more water in our glasses I also heard one waiter argue with another patron, telling her that she had ordered a small desert and not offering to bring her a larger portion. It would have taken great food to make up for the poor service, but the french dip I had and the grilled chicken sandwich my wife had were … meh. I have no plans to return ever.

The breakfast menu was surprisingly limited but the bakery had lots to choose from. Overall, the food is okay but nothing out of the ordinary special.

There’s not too much going on in Pleasant Hill. Most of the shops and restaurants are located in the downtown area. The downtown is small but everything there is prime real estate. Shaadzee has a great location over there and a great shop front looking new and inviting. I stumbled upon Shaad on Saturday morning when I was supposed to meet a friend for brunch. We originally planned to eat somewhere else in that plaza but decided to give Shaad a try. They had a lot of yummy looking baked goods which I did not get a chance to try. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. There’s plenty of seating and has nice décor. I ordered a veggie omelet which came with toast and a cup of fruit. I asked the waitress if I could have fruit without cantaloupe. However, when it came out, guess what? Lots of cantaloupe on my plate. I didn’t bother to send it back and just didnt eat the melon. The omelet was ok. My friend got a chicken salad and said it was ok. The manager was very nice and brought us waters when we were unable to flag down the waitress. Decent place for a casual lunch. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there but if I was in the neighborhood, I might return.

Shaadzee is a deli and dessert type place. No table service, just order at the counter. I can only imagine that it is Persian. The food has a middle east twist, but the selections are not exclusively that way, neither the desserts. The place is decent size and a lot of places to sit and eat, tables, stools, etc. But I never see it crowded in here, usually just a handful of people. It always seemed promising, but every time I passed by this place, I felt no energy coming from it. There still isn’t much. I came here for a quick dessert after a meal elsewhere. I got the special Raspberry Mouse cake, and it looked wonderful, but tasted meh in my book.

Whenever I see my family in the East Bay, I make sure to pay a visit to Shaadzee. The owners are kind people and will make you feel welcome. The food is reasonably priced and really hits the spot. The lamb shank with the basmati rice is my personal favorite. Make sure to try one of their desserts before leaving– the crème brûlée, crème caramel, and tiramisu are solid choices!

A visit to Shaaadzee Bakery was a perfect end to a movie night at the Pleasant Hill Theatre. We got here on a Friday night around 9:30 p.m. We were looking for a place to get some desert after the movie, and Shaadzee was literally right down the block. What a great find: a wide variety of baked goodies to choose from! I had the Strawberry Croissant($ 2.75) while my wife had the multilayer Cheesecake($ 5.45). The cheesecake sounds expensive, but this was no ordinary cheesecake — we counted at least eight layers. I’ve seen some Unilocal complaints about service — this was not our experience at all. Two men were behind the counter, both very courteous and extremely helpful. Our hot chocolate was brought to our table when it was ready. This place had wonderful atmosphere: quiet, cozy and classy all at once. After a good movie in Pleasant Hill, this is the place to come for some quality time with your partner.

I’ve been wanting to come here to try their macarons, but I wasn’t able to because they didn’t have any when I came in. I decided to grab a bite here, since I was so famished from not eating any real food all day due to studying and taking an exam. I ordered the cheapest dish on the menu, which was the California burger for $ 10.75. It was difficult deciding what to order because there were 4 or 5 flat screen TVs displaying their menu, and it was just an eye sore because I was looking all over the place. I bet the lady behind the counter was thinking«will this girl hurry the hell up and order already!» because she would look up at me and look back down at the register. I didn’t have to wait long for my burger to be ready, only about 10 or so minutes. When my order was brought to me, the lettuce and tomatoes were on the side of the burger. The burger was pretty big in height with the patty, bacon, and the cheese and I still had to add the lettuce, tomato, pickles, and avocado, which made it even higher. so of course it was difficult to eat. In the end I had to take out some lettuce(to lower the height of the burger) and tomato(because the juice was dripping all over the place). The burger was okay and the fries were good w/the ranch. Service was a question mark. When I sat down to wait for my order, the waitress gave me a glass of water, which was nice because I didn’t ask for it. But I downed it when I was eating my burger. I thought she would come by to refill it but she just disappeared after I received my food. Idk how service works here because after I was done with my burger, I waited for 5 – 10 minutes to see if the waitress would come by to see if I needed a box for my fries. So I guess I had to go over to the register and ask for a box myself, which was on the other side of the restaurant. I felt bad for not leaving a tip(because I didn’t have cash on me and I didn’t add it onto my receipt when I was paying for my burger) so I decided to order a cannoli and add my tip there. The cost of the cannoli was $ 3.75($ 4.75 after I added a $ 1 for tip). I thought that was quite expensive for a cream filled shell. It tasted ‘aight’, nothing special… definitely not worth $ 3.75. Before leaving, I asked one of the ladies behind the counter what days they make macarons, and she said«oh, there’s a lady from a different bakery that brings them in to sell here, but she hasn’t been in, in a while». I was surprised, I thought they made the macarons. but it’s okay I guess. I still want to try them if they have them in. I’ll just have to call ahead next time and hopefully they’ll have them in. Overall, this place is just okay… nothing special. They’re pricey, that’s for sure! and Service is Meh… I’ll probably come here one more time to try their Green tea Lemonade and those macarons. Other than that. I’ll pass on everything else…

First time coming in here today and I’ve always wanted to try it out because it looks nice and it’s just down the street from my work. The atmosphere was nice and pleasant and the waiter was very nice, patient and helpful with the menu. I was going to get the veggie burger w/sweet potato fries since it was the special for only $ 8 but I only wanted the sweet potato fries because I’m a fan of sweet potato fries :) The sweet potato fries was $ 2.84(?) and it took a bit longer than 5 minutes but I didn’t mind since I wanted to browse around the restaurant and wanted to look at the pastries everyone has been reviewing. The sweet potato fries were DELICIOUS they added a bit of salt and pepper, the pepper was a bit weird because the places I have gone that serve sweet potato fries only put salt, but it was good. Crispy, non-oily, and hot, not warm which was great :) I’d love to come here again and try something else.
