Salon Avalon

I had my hair color corrected and recut by Harley, after the worst coloring job of my life in a nearby salon.
Harley came to the rescue! He sat and talked with me to be sure of what I wanted. Honestly i would have been okay as long as didn’t look like my bangs were taped on from a different hair color, like it did. I was tempted to just dye it all back to my original color.
He spent nearly three hours recoloring my hair, bringing my natural color down, hand painting each section. I felt bad for taking up so much of his time! Despite that, he was fun and friendly, and we shared lots of stories within those three hours.
After he dyed parts of it darker, he did a color rinse to tone down the bleached parts. While it isn’t the ombré I initially wanted, it looks WAY better than before and I don’t feel like I need to hide it with a hat and pony tail. The cut is also great and has a lot of movement. I didn’t really want to go this short, but that was not his fault, he was just fixing the bad cut from before.
Overall I’m really happy with it, and also happy I found a local stylist I like! Thank you Harley for fixing my disaster hair!

First visit, I fell asleep and missed my appointment. Ashley was very understanding, and let me come in very late. The owner was great, Ashley did a great job touching up my color and cut. I will return again soon — and I am one of the pickiest people there is!

My wife went in for a haircut, but basically what she wanted was to even out the growth of her previous pixie cut. The stylist did not understand her nor the pictures she was shown. She repeated the pixie cut and while it looks fine, my wife hates it.

I was contacted by Tooraj, and decided to come back in! Elena fixed my wife’s hair and the service of as outstanding! My wife will definitely come back to the salon!

Nice folks, great service, better haircut … what more is there to say?

From the moment I made contact with Salon Avalon, they made me feel like special. I called looking to get a whole hair makeover. As soon as Elena answered the phone, she treated me as if I had been a regular customer. She was unavailable that day to do my hair, but went out her way to set me up with Suzette. As soon as I walked in, Elena came up to me and even remembered my name.
Suzette was a lovely girl. She was professional and took her time, in helping me choose a style and color. The results came out great! Everyone at the salon is so attentive, even offering me coffee, tea or wine! I was also looking to get some kind of treatment done to my hair because I was getting tired of not being able to wear it down with out it being a big, poofy, frizzy mess. Tooraj, the owner of the salon, recommended I do the advanced glycolic treatment. I scheduled an appointment with him for the following week and he was willing to do my hair on his day off! (Luckily my schedule changed and I was able to come on Saturday) The whole process took about 6 hours. The only downside was that the red highlights, Suzette had put in my hair, changed color, other than that it was worth it! I LOVE MY NEW HAIR! I’ve never felt so beautiful and have a new found confidence. Thank you Tooraj, Suzette, Elena and the girls at Salon Avalon. You are amazing and I’ll see you in six months!

I’m always hesitant about going to a new stylist but kudos to Elena for putting my fear to rest. Elena did an excellent job on my color, highlights, haircut and styling. She took great care in prep work to prevent the color from getting on my face, ears and neck. My favorite part was the hand massage. I love being pampered.
The salon was clean, organized and ultra modern. Love the location! Everyone was very warm and friendly. I was given a bright pink bag and a few samples of hair products.
I will definitely be back!

Our whole family loves Elena! I purchased a year’s worth of haircuts from Cool Cuts last year, but unfortunately you get what you pay for, especially when the cut grows out — yikes! Thank you Elena for always making our handsome lil guy even more dapper for the holidays!!! :)) and a million thanks for being the caring, wonderfully technical stylist you are!!! :))

A few days ago, i was helping my cousin out by blow drying her long, thick hair. I myself have long, thick, hair and sometimes, the task of showering is very daunting because blow drying our hair takes forever. Her hair was so smooth, and it took about 15 minutes to dry. I was intrigued and found out her hair is so smooth because she got a keratin complex treatment about 6 months ago at Avalon. I decided right then and there that I had to get one also. So the next morning, I called the place to schedule an appointment.
The lady who picked up was super nice but let me know the owner is the man who usually does the treatments does not work on Monday’s but she could schedule me an appointment on Tuesday or Wednesday. I let her know that I was off today and I was scheduled to go on vacation on Wednesday. She let me know that he usually comes in on Mondays around 11 to do paperwork. She let me know she would ask him and call me back, perhaps he would make an exception. At about 11 the owner himself called me and said he would help me out so I could get my hair done before my vacation. SCORE!
The salon gives off a very mainstream, professional, clean feel. My appointment was scheduled at 12:30 with Tooraj and after a short wait he greeted me very warmly and gave me a parking pass to put in my car so as to not get a ticket. I explained to him exactly what I wanted — my damaged hair is a pain to wash and dry because it takes forever. He listened very attentively and made me feel incredibly comfortable. He let me know that it is an expensive procedure that would make my hair healthier and a piece of cake to style. He also let me know was I was getting into as far as cost and maintenance and was very clear that I could not under any circumstances get my hair wet for 72 hours. He even took a «before» picture so that I could see the difference.
I was absolutely delighted with everything about his work. He explained everything he was doing as he did it, and kept the conversation flowing over the 6 hours I was there. That’s right, six hours. During my time there, he made sure I was comfortable, offering me wine, water, and even a sandwich. :-) When I was done, he let me know exactly what shampoo I needed to buy, and explained the follow up treatment I would need in a few months. He even had one of the other ladies give me a trim. He then took an after picture and showed me the two so I could see the difference. WOW!
The service I received was amazing. Since I left I’ve gotten nothing but positive feedback about my hair — several coworkers of mine noted how well the other lady did the layering in the back, and I even had a woman stop me in the street to tell me how great my hairs looks.

This place is amazing. I called and got in that day. My stylist has been doing this for 16 plus years, she knows what she is doing. She had to do a color correction, trim, and all over color in under 3 hours. She did an amazing job. I’m very impressed. I would recommend her for sure. I believe her name is Vita or Vinna (it starts with a V) every one in the shop is so nice and helpful.

Mojgan & Nooshin are our favorites since our hair & threading done by these two wonderful ladies. Attention to detail all around is very clear. Obviously Mr Tootaj is very serious about the Customer service and a clean environment.
I highly recommend this salon to friends and everyone who is having a hard time finding a place to stick to.

Suzette saved my hair and returned be back to being blonde! I had gone to a different salon and was treated poorly after they turned my hair ashy/​green. Suzette fixed my hair and even did my makeup as we waited for it to process. She is amazing and my hair looks great! Everyone was very friendly and the price was appropriate. I am definitely going to be a customer as long as I live here!

Tooraj is a highly skilled hair stylist. The staff is super friendly as well … Fair prices and convenient location.

Salon Avalon exceeded my expectations from the moment I called them to make my appointment until I walked out their door! Noshin assured me of her experience cutting curly hair and she indeed did a fabulous job! I LOVE the outcome (my cut & rich color) & I will most definitely return again & again. Tooraj, the owner, was charming & accommodating, offering me a beverage, sample products, a gift card for my next visit and asking me for feedback. This, to me, is customer service at its BEST! To top it off, everyone was warm & welcoming, making me feel so comfortable. Kudos to all of you at Salon Avalon! Thank you! :-)

Very nice and clean salon, good and convenient location and professional staff.
I’ve tried almost all the salons in walnut creek and pleasant hill but I have not been as satisfies with any of them as I’ve been with salons Avalon. The staff are super friendly and at the same time very professional. They have good knowledge about what they are doing and they go above and beyond to make their clients happy. No one had been able to work with my hair and get the color and cut that I really wanted. The stylist who worked on me listened to what I had in my mind and and gave me her own professional opinion of what looked good on me and the mixture of these two came out as an art work. All my friends are surprised that I finally look the way I yearned for years. Thank you salon Avalon for making me beautiful. I do recommend this place to anyone one with a unique taste.

Got my hair cut by the sweetest lady. She took her time and made sure I was happy about the style. A great price, and super quality work. I’ll come back sometime for sure!

I’ve been to Salon Avalon a few times now. The first two times I got my son’s hair cut and they did a great job, but this last time i called them in the last minute and they were about to close the shop but they didn’t say NO to me ! They have a great team, super friendly and they are very reasonably priced. Tooraj gave me a hair cut and he did a great job, I highly recommend this place to my friends and family.

Nooshin Is Amazing. Hair Came Out Absolutely Beautiful. I Made A Huge Mess By Attempting To Dye My Own Hair Purple And She Color Corrected My Hideous Do. Can’t Thank You Enough, All Of You Especially Nooshin And The Owner. Very, Nice, Neat, Clean, And Professional. They KNOW Their Stuff Highly Recommended!!!

In the Jewish custom, you don’t cut your son’s hair until he is 3 years old. Then one has an event called an Upsherin where people in the family and community come up and take a little snip of hair off.
This dates back to when Moses was hidden in the Pharoah castle in the Bible.
I start my review with this because my family is Jewish and I have never cut my son’s hair. I was more nervous about the hair cut than his bris (circumcision).
Mozghan was our stylist. She was kind and patient. Allowing each of our family members to come up and take a snip of hair.
I was unable to have the Upsherin at our synagogue and plan a big party because I have a pinched nerve in my neck and am in too much pain.
I’m actually glad it worked out like this. My son’s first hair cut was an intimate family affair.
Mozghan did a great job and my son is more handsome, if that was even possible ;)
Even though we live in SF, we will be back for maintenance cuts. We visit grandparents close by

Saw this place when I was in the plaza and thought I’d give it a try since it also had really great Unilocal reviews.
Made an appointment and ended up getting Monique. Not very nice or great with hair. Too vigorous with the brush (brushed against my face and neck), tilted my head too often, and not a very friendly person either. I just wanted a trim to fix my hair a bit. It ended up looking really choppy! It could’ve used a bit of thinning out like she said she would but another gentleman was waiting and she dismissed me before she could. Although, it ended up taking an hour for some reason. It didn’t seem like she knew exactly what she was doing.
I’m an easy person to please and I hated every single minute of my appointment. I didn’t care that she ruined my hair which I noticed immediately, I just wanted it to end already! Waiting an hour and couldn’t finish the job to just even out layers is absolutely not acceptable.
It seems that everyone else has a great experience with other hairdressers but I definitely don’t recommend Monique.
