Very neat little shop! This isn’t a café, this is a coffee bean micro roaster. These guys focus on developing a unique flavor by not over roasting the beans. They try to bring in fair trade suppliers so that each of their actions support a humanitarian cause. Carl was there that day and gave us an little lesson about the different beans that they have and even showed us their roasters! The bean flavors are really awesome and we had the opportunity to try the Dominican and their iced coffee. Both coffee drinks were delicious and you can definitely identify the unique flavors in each bean type. They do wholesale and individual bean sales to businesses and walk in customers. They have online ordering so if you want to get your beans delivered to your home you can!

I was having work done on my car in the same strip mall as Coffee Del Rey. Thinking it was a coffee shop, I went in hoping to read a book. While this is not a coffee shop, they do sell damn good coffee. The owner and one of his employees shared with me the buisness got started. Most of the sales benefit various charities that are close to the owner’s heart. He shared that when he retired he did some missionary work oversees and became passionate about making a difference. I explained that I am a dark roast kind of gal and he shared a pour over with me and then directed me to the brewed coffee of the day. I liked them both so he suggested a mixed bag with each bean. I am so excited to try my fresh roasted and fresh ground coffee. Support local and support a cause.

Every couple weeks I come back here to buy another bag of their delicious, freshly roasted beans. The fact that every purchase also benefits the growers from around the globe just makes the coffee taste even sweeter. I would be a loyal customer based on the quality of the beans alone, but I also love supporting a business that gives back. Keep up the good work Coffee Del Rey! I will see you this afternoon for my next bag!

I too, had my first taste of Coffee Del Rey in McKinney at Spoons Café and fell for it after first sip. Loved how very smooth the flavor was and being a coffee shop owner in the market for some new beans, I called Spoons(which was more than accommodating-thanks guys) and they gave me the name. Larry(one of the owner’s of Coffee Del Rey) has been a gem to work with-our family especially loves their back story and the community service they provide with their business. Great customer service and coffee!

Expertly selected beans, micro roasted by highly trained, careful connoisseurs . My Step-Father-in-Law is the among the pickiest eaters in the world and has probably narrowed his scope to about 7 items. The proprietor here had concocted a special light roast for me, then my wife brought the Coffee del Rey off-menu city-roasted Tucker Blend of 50% Brazil Yellow Bourbon, 25% Guatemalan, and 25% Sumatran to Muscatine, Iowa on her visit and now that’s all he wants. He’s no connoisseur, but now its the only coffee he’ll drink. My palate prefers a light roast. I love coffee and have various mechanisms at home to prepare it, but I’ve been cold brewing coffee for about 10 years and I get my coffee exclusively from Coffee Del Rey.

Coffee Del Rey is a wonderful micro roaster. My wife and I ate at Spoons Café in McKinney and my wife couldn’t get enough of their coffee. So the last time we were there we asked what kind of coffee they used, and it turns out they use this wonderful local roaster. Our next stop was Coffee Del Rey(admittedly difficult to locate the first time, even though it’s in a strip mall right off of Park and 75). The owner is very kind and was willing to talk to us and educate us about various roasts and helped us to pick out the Philosopher’s Blend and could not be happier. Next time I think I’m going to try the Sunshiney Day Blend too. We’ve been using the Philosopher’s Blend in our superautomatic espresso machine and it is heavenly.
