WEDDINGRECEPTION. My niece recently held her wedding here. The setting is beautiful although the hills can be challenging to walk especially if you have disabled or elderly in your group(or women are wearing high heels). They had promised a golf cart with 3 benches but only provided a 2-seater on the wedding day. My disappointment is mostly with the waitstaff during the reception. They never served any cake or passed the cupcakes so we had to take them all home. The bartender started breaking down the bar(he cleared everything away from the bar top) an hour before the end of the reception which gave the appearance that they had stopped serving. Ten minutes before the end of the reception I noticed that two tables had already been stripped down to the bare wood. AND lastly, as we(the MOTHER of the BRIDE and myself) had to collect and remove all the flowers, table decorations and leftovers immediately, we were taking things to the car and left our personal belongings where we had been sitting only to return to find the waitstaff had gathered all our things and had taken them outside to the patio and left them on a table — when questioned they said they thought we «forgot them» — seriously? our purses & cameras, etc? Rude. This staff needs training.(oh did I mention seeing a waitress dancing on the dance floor?)

Have been back a few more times and had great experiences. Friendly staff and tasty wine. There is a fee which is becoming more common in the area. Worth the drive out here to see the grounds.

My wife and I came here just to check out a new spot and left as wine club members! I’m used to going to wineries for tastings and only liking one maybe two wines but David Girards wines are all good. The grounds are gorgeous and the service is consistently good. I guarantee you if you try the Coda rouge you won’t be sorry!

Their wines are just my style & I love almost all of them. Their Rosé is amazing. After one visit we became Wine Club members & the perks are great. This is our go-to date day picnic spot with a bottle to share. Love that we live less than 10 min away from such a beautiful spot. Customer service has always been spot on every time we go.

We visited this winery with friends from the Bay Area. We are locals and went to three winery’s yesterday. This is the only winery we have been to that charges for tasting in this area. The wine is fair. The grounds are quite pretty. The ladies that worked there were lovely and very helpful; the old gray haired gentleman was the opposite. He was a pompous ass and even the people we met at other wineries knew of him! So, if you choose to pay for tastings and you visit this winery… wait for the nice ladies and avoid this chap. We all know why he had no name tag. Again, the ladies were great.

I attended a surprise 40th Bday here last weekend. The birthday girl is a wine club member and the winery was very accommodating to the party and all arrangements. The wine is fantastic, I enjoyed a white that was amazing. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and include grass, flowers and a waterfall. The staff were so attentive for the party I was very impressed. I will be back to do some wine tasting!

Very classy place overall. The tasting room is down the hill from the big main building. We had excellent and knowledgeable service from one of the gentleman there. He was very gracious and helpful in deciding what to try. We ended up buying two bottles and are considering going back soon. The views are spectacular too.

David Girard Vineyards is by far my favorite winery in El Dorado County. I have gotten to know Sebastien and the tasting room staff well since we moved to the area last year. Grounds are beautiful, staff is very friendly, and, most importantly, the wine is fantastic. Tasting fee is $ 7, but goes toward a bottle if you purchase one. At $ 18 for a few of their wines that’s a no-brainer! The winery specializes in wines from the Rhone, so no blockbuster Cabs here, which is fine with me. Softer, but well-structured wines abound that are made form Syrah, grenache and Mourvedre. My favorites are the Rose(it is amazing!) and Grenache. All in all a great way to spend an afternoon. Not many other wineries around, so I suggest pairing with a visit to the American River in Coloma.

Unique and elegant wines. Friendly staff, beautiful grounds. I ordered wines to be shipped to San Diego and was pleasantly surprised when I received them approx 24 hours later. Great experience.

I went to concert there last summer and had a blast, the grounds and winery are amazing with a fantastic sunset as we sipped some Rive D’Or(red trio). The people there were all in a great mood and it was a fantastic evening. I’ll be back several times this year for the wine and music

Nice looking winery in terms of aesthetics. They have several buildings and it does look ideally suited for a wedding and/or wedding reception. Wines were good, but not great. It is ideally close to where we camp every year. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about their wines.

We decided to visit the local wineries for our anniversary, I was very disappointed when we visited this winery. The tastings were not free and there was pressure to buy wine even though they knew we were locals and should have focused on our repeat business. The winery is beautiful on the outside however I can’t say that our experience was beautiful at all.

The wines were ok, the grounds are beautiful, and they do have quite a little bit of shopping selection. Wine steward guy was pleasant. Looks like they hold weddings here. We were charged for tasting.

What a lovely winery. We didn’t anticipate being able to squeeze in another stop on our wine tour, but I was so glad that we did. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I’m still learning about wine and all the different varieties. When the pourer said Coda, I had to ask what it was. The Coda Blanc was very refreshing. I envision sipping it out on the patio with a bowl full of fruit. The Coda Rouge is a very balanced wine. I believe it could accompany and bring out the best of a great number of dishes. I look forward to returning. If you are looking for beautiful scenery, a welcomed feeling and unique blends — this is definitely the place for you.

Great venue. This seems to be the most expansive grounds of the wineries in El Dorado County. The event center here is a local favorite to host wedding receptions… The grounds are perfect for an actual wedding. Rhone varietals are offered here. They do a very good job with their blending(similar to French wines). The Rive L’Or is amazing! We bought several bottles. It can be drank now, but also should be good to lay down for another 5 years or so. The tasting fee is $ 5/ea. and is waived for each bottle purchased. The lake and rolling hills make this a great stop for a long picnic.

Such a beautiful place! A smaller vineyard, and not a popular stop, but a definate must see! Luscious vineyards rolling from hill to hill… just magical! Delicious flavors, and fabulous staff! «Rhone» all the way!

First of all, this winery is breathtakingly gorgeous! I had never been wine tasting in this area and having been to Napa MANY times. I had pretty low expectations… but honestly, the overall experience from this winery was one of the best I’ve ever had! Staff members Katie and Josh are wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. We came in with a really large group and they handled us like pros. Josh took us on a tour of the winery and we enjoyed it very much. His passion for the wine making process and knowledge of the wines made for an enjoyable experience. Katie poured wine tastings for the other half of our group and she was very kind of pleasant, unlike the folks on our previous stop at Gold Hill. Overall, their wines were pretty good but what made for an outstanding wine tasting experience was the great staff and beautiful grounds. I would definitely come back!
