We stopped in here on vacation because we had seen it from the freeway for a while. My wife and I were both hungry for udon. I ordered the tempura udon and the portion of tempura was about right. 2 pieces of shrimp and 5 or 6 veggies. The udon broth was tasty and very hot. The noodles were cooked perfectly as were the other ingredients in the soup. We split an order of baked mussels. They’re not the traditional ones we’re used to but very tasty. Only 4 stars because of the atmosphere. Not really traditional Japanese but the staff is super nice.

I love sushi and try different places all over the United States. The sushi is fresh, service is good, prices are fair, and the beer is cold. I usually don’t purchase miso soup, but here I would recommend.
This my favorite place to go for sushi in the area. Young and DJ are outstanding sushi chefs. When they are here I never worry because I know I’m getting amazing fish. Out of all the Yanagi’s here in SLO this one is by far the best for sushi.

Just came from out of town looking for some good sushi, the place says they close at 10pm but I showed up at 9:30pm and the cooks and staff decided to change their hours and close early. Only to laugh as I walked out. Try somewhere else where tourist are more appreciated

This is currently our favorite sushi place in this area. We are pretty fortunate to have several good ones here. The rolls are always great and I often get the salmon teriyaki dinner or some tempura as well. We always seem to get the same server, an Asian lady that is very friendly and a bit feisty too. My problem with most Asian restaurants, why is it so hard to find fresh brewed ice tea? If I’m not working I just get a big bottle of beer anyway.

we love this place! chef young is great! the sushi is super fresh and the staff is always friendly! we usually sit at the bar and frequently get«freebies» to taste! We haven’t had anything we don’t like — though we always order sushi. The little salad they serve as an appetizer is delicious, as well!

Ate here yesterday and loved the boat for 2 people! We always eat a lot of sushi, so this option felt like we got a lot of food for the price. The staff is attentive and the sushi was fresh! We will definitely be making this out new lunch spot!

We used to go all the time(2x a week) but the past year we get horrible service. Its college age guys who Don’t know anything about customer service. Service is horrible now. Won’t be going back. Luckily there are tons of other sushi places that are really good that care about service. Try yamamotos:)

This place USEDTOBE great and top notch. However, for a few years now, it’s been slowing going downhill and after tonight’s experience, it fell into a sinkhole. I always order the $ 20(2) combination dinner with BEEFTERIYAKI and SHRIMPTEMPURA. I believe they must have heard me order a BEEFJERKY and LIMPTEMPURA, because that’s precisely what I got. After explaining to the waiter that the beef was so chewy, I had to gnaw it for 5 minutes to make it digestible and had to spit it out, he went to the cook, and the cook replied, «well, it’s fresh». Even my friend tasted a piece, but ended up putting it out on her plate. When I tasted her chicken teriyaki, it tasted like it had been on a warming plate for the entire day and was like leather. It was so dry and tasteless. We didn’t get edamame either at the beginning of the meal like we used to. The waiter(Ali?) then said he’d talk to the manager. That day never came and at the end of my meal, when the manager asked how things were, I told her that the waiter was going to ask her about what happened, and she said ‘sorry, I didn’t know about that’ and proceeded to hand me and my friend our $ 60 bill. She never once asked to make reparations and the waiter never did care enough to come back and ask how to make it better. Those 3 people that work there have shown me they do not care about their food, nor their customer’s satisfaction. I will not be returning — there’s way better food out there for about the same amount of money. They won’t be getting any of my YEN anytime soon. SAYONARA!!!

I used to eat here all the time, but lately have been only eating sushi once in awhile(expensive and lots of carbs). I splurged recently and spent $ 30 and didn’t get much for that price. The taste of my rolls was exceptionally bad, but as it was takeout and I was already home, I did not go back to the restaurant to return them. I will not be going back. The food is pretty low quality and the presentation was pathetic(rolls not very tight, opening in the package). Bummer.

I eat a LOT of sushi and this is my favorite sushi place by far. The food is excellent, the wait staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is clean and never feels to crowded. You are well cared for and the food is served quickly. We love the spicy tuna roll, the HOT night roll, and the Albacore delight roll, the best!!! Mmmmm, my mouth is watering just writing about it. We go weekly, see ya there!

Had fantastic food and service. Place wasn’t busy and our party of four got served very quickly. Sushi was very tasty. 911 roll yummy. Crunchy roll delish and pismo roll great too tho I prefer mine with rice paper. Or is it soy paper? Anyway moderately priced, tasty, quick and I’m sold. Will certainly return.

I got a takeout order with my friend who treats herself to this place once a month and all she does is RAVE about how awesome the food is. I love my friend dearly and respect her opinion on things, but this is where I have to beg to differ. Prices are meant for tourists, and you don’t get what you pay for! As our items that needed to be cooked were being cooked, our items that were meant to be served cold sat on the countertop losing its chill and almost becoming to the«danger zone» temperature that can cause things like food poisoning. We ordered 5 different rolls to share and I actually only liked one of them(can’t remember which). For these 5 rolls and an appetizer, our total was $ 65.(AS I said, TOURISTPRICES!) I would’ve been happier going to Trader Joe’s and getting a sampler sushi box which would’ve costed me about 7 bucks!

The waitress was quick to seat and take orders. Brought my water and edamame out right away. The uni here did not taste very fresh though and I was disappointed with the tiny pieces. The nabeyaki udon, however, was good. The broth and noodles tasted great. Laughed at the 2 tiny pieces of clam, which I’m pretty sure the menu said were supposed to be mussels. This Yanagi may be closer to me, but I think I’ll go to the bigger one from now on.

Food as usual was great. Service again wasn’t up to par. I have been coming to this sushi restaurant for several years now and most always eat at the bar and always have a great experience. On this visit I decided to eat in the dinning area where there are servers. I have to say this again was extremely disappointing. I say again because every time I have eaten in the dinning area i’m left disappointed. What this place is missing is a lead server that knows what they are doing. It is clear to me that these guys do not have a clue and need to be trained. Suggestion. If your looking for good food and the sushi bar experience this is the place to go. If your wanting service and to be waited on then you’ll have better luck somewhere else in town.

My girlfriend and I decided to try this place out. Turns out this was the BEST sushi we’ve ever had!!! We came back the very next night actually. The sushi is fresh, the menu is easy to understand and the selection is fantastic. Only bummer for us is we never leave feeling full, portions are good though — but hoo boy were we satisfied! The staff seems new and awkward, but very nice and accommodating nonetheless.

Good sushi, but not amazing. Nice atmosphere, but a little too condensed. Anywhere you sit, you will be «right there» next to the staff. Good food dining overall. **Tiger Eye’s Roll is awesome, but not that filling**
