The Quarterdeck always makes me happy. For the last 15+ years my husband and I have been coming here and it has consistently been good! The service is quick and selection is fantastic. It is not the fanciest of the restaurants in the Pismo/AG area, nor does it have an ocean view, but the food is delicious and I would say HANDSDOWN better than any of the restaurants near the pier. We visited last night. Alberta was our server and did a wonderful job. I had the seafood croissant(one of my favorites) and my husband had the Quarterdeck combo(amazing — I always eat part of it) plus we got the chowder which is very good!!!(I’m picky about my clam chowder and I was impressed). …(side note too about the menu — they have a complete vegetarian section that looks really good for those that don’t eat meat or fish). We often come here to happy hour in the bar as well. They have some FANTASTIC specials(the fish tacos they have certain nights of the week are SOGOOD — get there early to get a spot in the bar) and they have TVs and play the game. Overall, restaurants in our life have come and gone but it makes me so happy to know that the Quarterdeck is there and is always one we can count on and is delicious every time!

Had dinner there tonight. Ordered the grilled halibut and ribeye. It was awesome. The halibut was cooked perfectly, and the ribeye was tender, juicy, and tasty! The salad, baked potato, and green beans were luscious! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Food was really delicious, the meal was great; service on the other hand was absolutely terrible. Our waitress, who didn’t care about us one bit, not only got our orders wrong but had given our food to another table, only to realize it 5 mins later when she took the food away from them and gave it to us. When we were given the bill there was a $ 25 tip included(because we were in a large group) for our table of 4. When the complaint was addressed to the cashier I knew that my opinion was of no value to the organization. Great food for the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. To clarify about the party of four, we had entered the restaurant with a party of 16. Understanding that a party of 16 would be difficult, we split up our group to sit at four different tables(3 servers total) and were served at different times(no problem with that but should not have included a large group gratuity). This was the second time that we had been served by Alberta, both times were disastrous. Nice person but in serious need of training. Thank you for your response. You have shown me that my concern did not fall on deaf ears.

OK, I know, you’ve heard from me too many times already, about every place I eat, but I had to say this; I thought that maybe those fried oysters I got last time were a fluke, and that this place probably could not maintain that level of quality more than a few times a month. Absolutely not only untrue, but on this particular night, had they failed, it would have been forgivable. Why? Well, on this particular night, not only did the largest wedding party on the Central Coast decide to encamp there well past their time limit(was there one?), but I arrived with a large party myself, for my wife’s birthday party. We had a reservation, but that was shot down by the wedding party, but the hostess and servers were well-tempered in spite of some minor snarkyness by myself and a couple of others in my party… Kudos to you, ladies! In spite of the tremendous pressure of too many people on a busy Saturday night, which we now refer to as «The Night of the Missile», the Quarterdeck maintained an excellent level of professional service AND maintained the high quality of their food! You are my hero, Quarterdeck!

I love it when an old friend surprises me. The Quarterdeck is such an old friend. Birthdays, a graduation, lots of occasions without excuses or even planning, and never a disappointment. Then I moved away a bit, and lost track. I won’t lose track again. What used to be a simple go-to for fish and chips or chowder is still a great destination for both; but tonight my eye was hooked by a grilled ahi on ciabatta. I don’t do fish sandwiches. But that could change. The ahi itself was crusted in sesame and pepper, and seared nicely. The ciabatta was fresh and light. Oh, and I learned a new word: cusabi. The kale(not too much) and the roasted red peppers were tossed in a cusabi dressing I could have cheerfully ordered a side of. Sandy, our server, was attentive without being overbearing, and answered all our questions with a good humor. This despite a fairly good Friday dinner crowd. She earned her tip and then some. I do hope that ahi sandwich makes it onto the regular menu.

Customer service SUCKED ! The food was great but our waitress was so horrible! She asked every other table if they needed anything but never came to ask us. Finally the busboy noticed we never got checked on and he came up to us and asked if we needed refills on our drinks. Bless his heart now he knows how to treat the guest! When somebody else was walking by we asked for the check, paid for our dinner and gave our tip to the busboy, on our receipt where it says tip we let our waitress know that the tip was given to the young man who helped us! Note to the horrible waitress and the company you need to retrain your waitress and hostess. Shoutout to the wonderful busboy(the young man with the long hair)

Came here half an hour before closing because we were so hungry and they were one of the few restaurants in the area still open. The hostess was nice and sat us right away. We had to wait a while before our waitress noticed we were seated and ready to order but she was nice when she arrived. She seemed a bit distracted but maybe because it was already late and there was someone off at another table complaining about something. We ordered the ½ Fishermans plate, a bowl of clam chowder, and an order of the sweet and spicy calamari. The food was great! The scallops to our surprise were very tender. The fish and chips were very meaty and moist and the calamari was cooked perfectly. The only thing we noticed was that we were only given 1 shrimp in the entire basket when there was about 2 – 3 of each seafood items in the bowl. We will definitely come back as the food is decent and the business hours on point!

Great service by Laurel S. I ordered the ½ Fishermans Combo. What a mistake! I have been coming to this restaurant for over 22 years. I can see the OCEAN from the parking lot. This meal started with really great Coleslaw. The rest is just gross! Shoe leather fried fish. This is NOT the awesome local fresh seafood the California Central Coast is noted for. This stuff had to have come out of a freezer bag from who knows where?!

The Quarterdeck is a down-home seafood restaurant. Fish ‘n chips and lobster tail are joined with rib eye steaks and fried chicken to ensure all palettes are placated. Fresh fare for fair(prices) at the Quarterdeck. Full-service bar too with all the tropical-accented drinks you can imagine. Free ice cream sundae with sprinkles or a Root Beer Float with yourYelp check-in. This is the kind of place I crave every so often when I want a simple seafood comfort dinner that’s not going to set me back too much. A comfortable spot with fast and friendly service. The atmosphere is Rainforest Café-meets-TGI Fridays. Absent are the suspenders and the pinstripes but you can find plenty of faux-leather booths, palm trees and tropical festooning throughout. The myriad offerings include coconut shrimp, shrimp ceviche, calamari strips, mandarin sesame shrimp salad, lobster mac, fried chicken, rib eye, lobster tail, shrimp melts, steak tacos, wahoo tacos, veggie burgers and more. I went with the Lobster Mac ‘n Cheese; lobster blended with different cheeses and finished with a garlic panko crust. Rich, creamy and satisfying. The Patty Melt features bacon, melted Swiss and grilled onions. This diner classic is the way to go if you’re feeling hungry as it is amply stacked. Try the seafood-inflected version of the patty melt if you’re craving some serious seafood… comes with crab meat, shrimp, cheeses and crispy potato shreds pressed between 2 grilled buttery slices. The folks at Quarterdeck pride themselves on value, warm service and tasty selections. Get all your American comforts and classics at the Quarterdeck near Pismo Beach.

In order to review a restaurant, you have to be served food at that restaurant. We sat there for 15 minutes or so waiting for someone to take our order. Servers walked by, but nobody took our order. We walked out and nobody said anything as we left. Never going back here again! We recently went back and received excellent service the second time. Food was very good. Completely changed our opinion.

Rude rude rude!!! How can a restaurant stay in business with rude wait staff? even if the food were fantastic, which it was not. I will not return!!! I can’t believe I actually left a tip

Seafood croissant was a delicious well seasoned sandwhich and the fries were nice and crispy! My aunt ordered the bronzed scallops and she says they were delicious but to watch out for the cocktail sauce because it was quite spicy! Casual atmosphere and very welcoming!(: would rate it a five but the check took a while to get to us. Overall great restaraunt, great service and great food ! Don’t listen to negative comments! It was wonderful and soooo tasty!

The clam chowder was awful — salty! The fish n’ chips were soggy and mediocre at best. Will not be returning here.

One of our go-to places when in Pismo Beach. They offer many typical seafood dishes grilled and fried which are good. But two of the best dishes are the braised short ribs and pork shank. They are succulent and flavorful and come with sides of garlic mash and fresh sauteed vegetables.

Well, I am an out of town visitor and today was my first visit and I LOVEDIT! I’m not sure about previous bad reviews but what I can say is that I had a very delicious dinner with good service. I ordered the Grilled Seabass. The meal came with a cup of Clam Chowder to start with and it was delicious! As far as Clam Chowders go, this would be in my personal top 5! Then came the Cordiva Seabass, it’s lightly seasoned and grilled. It has a pepper taste to it which for me was perfection, and it was totally fresh. The only recommendation that I would have is to «liven up» the green beans, they lacked a little flavor but nothing some butter and pepper couldn’t fix! Lol! Anyways, give this place a try, I think you’ll enjoy it.

We came in for lunch. The décor is rather eclectic but not bad, the important part is that it was clean. We where seated quickly and attended to by Connie our waitress(who was super friendly and accommodating) We used our check in special to get free rootbeer floats. The mister ordered their fish sandwich/cup of soup lunch special($ 9.50ish) and I got the 5pc fish n chips(just over $ 11) I was amused and pleased that the placemats flip over and have activity things on them. I we get bored waiting and it’s nice to have something to work on together. However, we didn’t get much chance because our lunches arrived! That was crazy fast and the food was piping hot! He enjoyed his fish sandwich, it comes with all the fixings on the side, some fries and a cup of clam chowder. The fish was cooked perfectly, the tartar sauce was good and the chowder was properly clammy and creamy. My fish and chips were just perfect. We had a good visit and will be back again.
