Eaten here three times now and each time it’s gotten a little bit better. They changed the décor, which I don’t like nearly as much. It just doesn’t look Italian inside like it used to, but. I think the food is much better. I would go here again because the food was great. Gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 for lack in ambiance.

We purchased a Groupon voucher to try this place out. $ 39 for 2 glasses of wine, 1 app, 2 entrees. Not a bad deal. For the app we ordered the Calamari. The calamari had to be the most awful calamari I’ve ever had. It was like chewing rubber. A piece got stuck half down my throat and half stuck to my teeth. I choked. Not good. First time we have never finished calamari. The marinara sauce it came with was really good. Entrees — I had the risotto special(filet mignon, asparagus, mushrooms, red wine sauce) — this was delicious! BF at the Sea Bass special with mashed potatoes and spinach. We thought the sauce on the fish was a bit salty, and mashed potatoes salty — but overall it was OK. The service was really good.

The décor is a little bit out of date, but the food seems to be pretty good. I had the chicken marsala, which was very tasty. My wife had fettuccine Alfredo and thought it was good. Service was prompt and courteous.

We got to restaurant and had the worst service. Did not help that everyone’s food was awful. How hard is it to make pizza? I had the pork shank which was just ok. Place is over priced. Save your money and go to another restauranr.

Super great fresh food. I loved the marinara sauce, it was so good we were dippinf our bread in it. Excellent service by Ashley. They were great accommodating a group of 12 in such short notice. When we arrived the service was extraordinary.

Wednesday December 30,2015 Last night around 8pm I returned in hopes this restaurant improved from last year. I first went to the men’s room. It was clean but had a strong open sewer odor A lot of restaurant’s restrooms have a 3″ round floor drain to catch the water when moping the floor. These floor drains have a traditional«trap» below the floor to hold water for the purpose of keeping the sewer odor from entering the room. It appeared, by the strong odor, the trap was dry. The solution is to insure the trap is always full of water. I told the food server this my first time back in over a year and was impressed with the remodeling. She said she was new and just shrugged her shoulders. No one was wearing a name badge and I didn’t want to refer to the staff as «Hey you» so I sorta ignored having menu conversation or asking for anything else. I asked the food server if they had Wi Fi, she shrugged her shoulders and said, «I don’t know, you’ll have ask the owner.» I ordered pasta and a salad. In this restaurant the salad is extra. In most restaurants, the salad comes with the pasta. I didn’t care for the house dressing so I asked for a small thing of a different dressing. It was really good but they charged me .50. The pasta was very good but they skimped on the meat sauce so I asked for a little more meat sauce. It too was very good but they charged me an additional $ 2.50. The prices were a bit on the high side so I asked the server if they had a senior citizens discount. She said no. The bar area appeared closed.. . Very dark and no bartender. So overall, a better visit this time than last year but I wished all employees wore name badges because people buy from people, not from companies. As I write this review, I can’t even remember the name of the restaurant. I think it was Rose Du. ..(forgot) I like to go to restaurants that have free fast speed Wi Fi. I think it costs about $ 20.00 a month and is not connected to the restaurant’s computer so no danger in getting hacked or corrupt files. Charging .50 for a different dressing will not make nor break a restaurant but it sure annoys the customer. And skimping on the meat sauce is not a way to get repeat business and charging $ 2.50 for a little more sauce just annoyed me. If I later see better Unilocal reviews, I’ll return if they offer Wi Fi and don’t charge .50 for salad dressing. This reminds me, several years ago I had dinner at Embers in Pinole. I had a BBQ plate and when I went to pay my bill, I discovered they charged me .95 for BBQ sauce. I asked the cashier if that charge was a mistake, she said no, they always charged extra for sauce. I told her I was glad I didn’t ask for mustard or ketchup. I haven’t been back and tell that story to all my dining friends. I’d be curious if Embers still charge extra for any of the normal condiments. Any one in Unilocal Land know? Signed, randy

Hadn’t been to this place in years but we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was and how busy the place was. Plus, they must have re-vamped the place and the décor is very warm. Our server was very sweet and attentive and the rest of the staff was as well. Overall, a good dining experience for Pinole and I’m really happy to see this business doing well! We had the special salmon and it was crispy and while still being juicy, the special bass which was just as delicious, and the risotto with filet mignon and mushrooms which was creamy and rich. All came with vegetables which were fresh. So in all, a really great local experience for a very reasonable price. Would go back!

my family and I come here whenever we have a special occasion. over time it just became a tradition for us since we love the food so much. I really recommend all of the different varieties of risotto that are offered on the specials menu. I’ve had every kind they serve and have never been disappointed. the Caesar salad is amazing so is the butternut squash soup. I would say the food tastes very authentic, I’ve traveled to Italy and the food tastes almost the same! the service here is pretty good, we always have someone checking in on us. all the waiters and waitresses are very kind and I like how the restaurant really makes it feel like you’re in Italy. the only problem my family and I have ever had here is we weren’t aware of deserts not being free for a birthday celebration even with ID? I’m not sure if that’s 100% correct, but at a past visit we were charged for a desert we believed was free/have received it free before.

First time was actually after a purchase from groupon. We loved it! The groupon was for 1 appetizer, 2 entrees(which was anythig off the menu EXCEPT the filet mignon) and 2 glasses of wine. Service was great. Food was AMAZING appetizer was anti pasto plate, I got the cippino, the mr. got carbanero. Cippino was delicious! full of seafood and hearty. Fhe carbarneo, also very good. I was feeling extra naughty and got the chocolate cake for dessert… THEIRDESSERTSAREAMAZING(This is coming from a girl who never eafs sweets)! Paired with a glass of port, you will leave very happy. No this place isn’t super shi shi, but quality, service, and price makes this a goto spot!

This was our first visit and I’m not sure we will be back. My husband had the lasagna and he said the lasagna was mediocre. He was asked by the waitress if he wanted a salad, and he responded yes. Little did we know the entrees don’t come with salad. They charged us $ 7.95 extra for a salad that you have with a full meal. At least cut someone a break on the salad if they are not ordering it as an entrée. I ordered a chicken dish with shells and broccoli and it lacked flavor. I asked for parmigiano cheese and the waitress brought me a side dish of powdered stuff. Lastly the bread was really dry! 50.00 for 2 entrees, 1 salad, and 1 coke and the food was not great… Extremely disappointed!

I’m back to being a fan because my last visit was a hit. Our party of four went for an early lunch; we were too early though because they weren’t even open yet. However, when they saw us standing outside, they didn’t let us wait another ten minutes, they invited us inside and they just opened 10 minutes earlier. How nice! Our party of four shared a pizza, carbonara pasta, risotto, and calamari. Everything was superb except for the pizza… I didn’t care much for it. I thought the crust could have been crispier. I’m just glad they have carbonara on their menu because I do have carbonara craving every now and then :)

SO I’ve been driving around this place for years, it’s been a few other things in it’s not too distant past, but Due Rose has been here a while now and I we decided to try it. I am not really the biggest fan of restaurants in strip malls, but once you get over that it’s not bad. The décor is a bit lacking, really big inside but not that well decorated. It feels kind of empty, like they packed in as many tables as possible, but there were very few other people there and it just felt kinda blank. They have homemade bread which was good, nice and warm a dinner roll and focaccia slab, oil and vinegar come with. Their wine list is pretty long and well priced, and the place seemed well staffed. In fact the staff way out numbered the patrons on Friday night at 6PM, not the best sign. They have a fairly standard Italian menu, but one thing that was missing was basil pesto. I usually try out a places basil pesto as it goes a long way in explaining the authenticity of an Italian restaurant. When I asked the waiter about it, he seemed confused and said he could enquire is they had any but I stopped him there, if you have to ask the cooks if they have it, it’s already too late. So I went with their minestrone soup as a started and their Fettuccine Carbonara as a main. The apps came out right away, like 2 seconds after we ordered, so that was nice. And 2 minutes after they were done the mains came out. We were actually trying to kill some time and enjoy this place that night so I would have preferred a bit of linger time on our food, but thats not what happened. I understand serving food hot, and turning tables but if it’s dead on a Friday night I’d think they’d want to keep us hanging around a bit longer. The Carbonara was good, the portion was pretty small, but rich and tasty. Basically this place is OK, but just OK, nothing really exciting and nothing glaringly wrong, but due to the extreme Italian restaurant desert that West Contra Costa County is I guess you can’t blame them for trying. Come here if you’re a local, but don’t make a special trip.

Not one bad experience here and I’ve been here more than a handful of times. Their service is as good as the food! My most favorite is the Grigliata Di Mare. If you like seafood, this is the entrée for you :)

This is written from the perspective of a middle class Joe. So let’s start out with the positive: tasty food, nice atmosphere inside, not crowded, friendly servers, nice bar area, flat screens in the bar. That’s about it. The negatives: way way way expensive for what you get, located in a dumpy shopping center with some unsavory folks floating around, did I mention way expensive? I would give the food five stars. Some of the best tasting Italian I’ve had in a while. But the value is like 2 – 3 stars.

So I came here with my fiancée so we could try something new and use our Groupon. I don’t usually read reviews either since I like trying for myself. The menu looked good with a descent variety of foods. We started off with 2 appetizers: butternut squash soup and carpaccio. The butternut squash soup was pretty good with good flavor. The carpaccio, on the other hand, lacked flavor even with pepper and lemon. I resisted putting salt to see what the natural flavors were since I’ve never had it. Next was the main course. She ordered the chicken marsala and I ordered the 1lb rib eye. Her chicken seemed very rubbery with a descent sauce(lacking flavor though). I asked for a medium rare steak and it was brought pretty rare with a terrible knife that I could barely cut with. We love mashed potatoes so we both ordered them with our meals. You could tell it was«just add water» type off the bat. Not very impressive. Lastly, the wine. I had the wente vineyards Merlot and she the Sterling vineyards Cabernet and both were pretty good! Definitely worth trying again. However, when using the Groupon it states two glasses of «house» wine. We didn’t see«house» wine on the menu and were charged the difference on the bill. It was only $ 4 between the tow of us, but there should be something more clear on the menu. FYI, their house wine in the sangiovese. We have one more Groupon to go so hopefully the 2nd time is a better experience.

Was very happy with the food, ambience was great, the waitress was very nice, overall will defiantly come back again. I ordered Futucini Cabonara and it was too die for, they were really generous with the bacon and the sauce was awesome. My mother ordered the seafood plate with scallops, calamari, shrimp, everything was really fresh. This was one of the best Italian meals I had so far. I was kinda reluctant to come in at first but I was happy we both did. It’s a nice hidden Italian place to go and have a good meal. Worth every penny.

I wanted to come here because of all the mixed reviews. It’s too bad this place can be missed by many potential customers because of its location. Plenty of parking though because it’s in a plaza. The inside is spacious and nice. Not too crowded for 630pm on a Thursday night. Staff were polite and attentive. The bread came out piping hot and the waiter gave a generous serving of olive oil with balsamic vinegar. The round buns were perfectly soft and moist. The square bread wasn’t as appetizing. I ordered the linguine tutto mare and the bf ordered chicken alfredo. Our food came out steaming which is a good sign that it was freshly made. My pasta dish was up to par. Definitely surprised me. My bf’s alfredo sauce wasn’t too thick, rich, or creamy(which I preferred). The bf said his noodles were too soft like it was overcooked. I didn’t see anything wrong with it Overall, I would love to come here again whenever I’m craving Italian. I can’t get enough of their buns. I hope this place keeps up business.
