This is my second stay at The Madrones… LOVE! The property is located on Hwy 128 so just a bit busy but you will hear zero noise as it is in a secluded area… A slice of Heaven! Not your typical hotel/Inn… My first visit I was greeted by the owner, as I approached the lobby he called to me by my first name! The second visit was a late check-in so really self service but a cute envelope with my name on the front… Mediterranean style and upscale! Small courtyard in front and the bonus is you have six tasting rooms onsite… Such as great little property, what’s not to love? You do have to pay up front and there is no refund policy so make sure you are locked in if you come. We had to leave a day early and lost one nights stay although you know this going in so it was no surprise. Even with the no refund policy I would still stay here over any other hotel in the area!

If you want to be pampered but have discreet privacy, if you want to wake up in a luxurious room and look out at the vineyards, this is the place for you! We have stayed twice now and will keep coming back. It’s a plus to have 4 wine tasting rooms right there on the hotel grounds. You can taste and then go back to your room to rest! Cyndee and staff are wonderful.

We just spent a couple of nights at The Madrones for our anniversary and really enjoyed it! We stayed in the Estate Guest Quarters I and loved the comfortable space and atmosphere of the room. We were greeted by Cyndee with a smile and she wanted to double check that our room was ready for us and sent us to the signal Ridge tasting room to sip on some bubbles while we waited. There are 4 wineries on site as well as the Stone and Embers restaurant. They provided yogurt, milk, cereal, juice, and banana bread for our morning snacks as well as some fruit from the trees in the garden. We were able to wander around and sit in the garden and enjoy the stars at night. The next day we headed out to do some wine tasting and come back to our comfy space. We really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back again.

We had the pleasure of spending time at this beautiful, relaxing and magical place. We live only an hour and a half away and wanted a place to watch the meteor shower(in August). It was everything we hoped for and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. Although it isn’t a bed and breakfast it was a ice surprise to find juice, milk, yogurt and yummy banana bread(from a local bakery) in the fridge and a couple packages of cereal next to the Nespresso coffee maker. We put together our breakfast and enjoyed it in the lovely gardens. Our entire stay was sheer perfection!

I stayed here while in town for work – wonderful place and very spacious and beautiful room! I would definitely stay here again for work or vacation. The price is really excellent for the experience they provide.

I cannot say enough positive things about the Madrones. My husband and I absolutely loved our time here. The innkeeper, Cindy, made us feel so welcome and gave us a great overview of Andersen Valley wine country. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious. The banana nut bread stocked in the fridge for breakfast and nespresso coffee was the perfect start to our days in the valley. Also, the location of the Madrones is unbeatable. The Madrones is a short drive from downtown Boonville, which has great options for lunch or dinner, and there are 5 wineries within walking distance of the property. We are already planning our next trip!

Gorgeous room and grounds! Stayed in Guest Quarters #1. The complimentary treats for breakfast are really impressive, and their attention to detail is as well. We were greeted by the exuberant Cyndee and her friendly assistant with free passes to all four on-site tasting rooms(I wish some of the tasting room staff were a little more relaxed and down-to-earth, but you can’t have everything). The wine was delicious and we left with a few bottles of our favorites. We were referred to Libby’s for Mexican food right up the road(probably walkable but we drove). Really good food and friendly waitstaff. Returned to the room to watch the sun set outside the lovely window framed by grapevines and a view of the hills. I’m not surprised this place comes so highly recommended.

We only scheduled one night here on our 8 day tour of California and wish we had planned on two. We stayed in the garden room and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, the smooth, comfy bedding and the light healthy breakfast. Our innkeeper Cindy was just a blast and made us feel like family friends. Thanks for a great experience.

Had a fantastic stay here this week. The Kitchen was perfect, loved sitting by the frog pond and enjoying a bottle of bubbly from Signal Ridge! Will definitely be back.

The perfect place to retreat to after a day in the Anderson Valley. Clean, modern, comfortable furnishings and all the amenities you could need for your stay — fridge, microwave, breakfast items, a nespresso machine. Tasting rooms within walking distance and only a short drive from either Philo or Boonville for a delicious dinner. Cyndee was a charming and helpful host.

From the lovely manicured gardens to the peaceful pond, the grounds of this inn are simply magical. It’s a Spanish-style hacienda-like entrance with several tasting rooms right on the grounds. The owner Jim went out of his way to show us around and make sure we felt like we were at home. Our room was in the former kitchen of the home and impeccably clean and complete with a doggy bed for our pups and freshly baked banana bread and Martinelli’s apple juice in the fridge. We’ll definitely be staying again and recommending to all our friends. What a gem for the Anderson Valley.

Stayed 2 nights on a holiday weekend and never saw the hostess. The reception hall remained empty and locked 24⁄7. Played phone tag with her trying to get allergy– and sweat-inducing feather bedding replaced until we got a very unapologetic VM that there was no other bedding. Wouldn’t want to try to sleep there in August. 2 of the 4 wine tasting rooms remained closed as well. Our room’s sitting room was very badly laid out, with a kitchenette but no place to sit and eat and a TV that was impossible to see from either the daybed or the 2 chairs. The water pressure in the bathroom was extremely poor and the water stunk of iron and funk from ancient pipes. The rooms look pretty, but I won’t be back.

My wife and I stayed two nights in the Spare Rooms, amazing experience. The room was perfect, quiet, clean, comfortable, great place to crash after a long day of hiking and tasting. The breakfast items were perfect to enjoy on our porch each morning. For two city people, it was SO quiet at night which made for some great sleeping. Everyone we spoke with were so accommodating and friendly. The property itself is beautiful. We enjoyed some wine in the garden which was a perfect way to end the day. Four tasting rooms on property along with an excellent restaurant make it a perfect place to spend a few days. I cannot say enough good things about the Madrones and we will certainly be back.

The wineries and restaurants of the Philo area have become a «Destination» and The Madrones is the perfect place to stay to enjoy them in comfort. It’s right square in the middle with four wine tasting rooms on-site and with Goldeneye just a 3 – 4 minute walk. Besides the lovely gardens, our room(where we stayed for three nights) was large, quiet, with a very comfortable bed(for sleeping after too much wine) and a huge shower in the bathroom. We had two«over the top» excellent dinners in the«Stone & Embers» restaurant that is within The Madrones compound. Jim &BJ, Sanger, CA

The cost of staying at The Madrones was comparable to other hotels in the area. It was spacious and quiet. The people in the hotel, the restaurant and wine tasting rooms were very nice. We stayed in Guest Quarters IV in room #4. It was great except for the fact that once the sun came up the skylight shone light directly into the face of anyone sleeping in one of the queen beds. The skylight needs a shade.

My family stayed at the Madrones for 3 nights over a long weekend and had a fabulous time. The property itself is beautiful and tranquil. We booked the Garden View room and it was very quiet and peaceful with a great view over the private garden. The garden served as our private retreat and my son and I spent an hour each evening walking around the garden exploring. The onsite tasting rooms are a superb treat. I have been a long-time customer of Drew and I found some great new wines at Signal Ridge and Knez. Bink was closed for expansion of the tasting room during the weekend of our stay. Balo, Goldeneye and others are very close to the Madrones property. Balo has a great bocce court across the street. Stone and Embers serves wood-fired pizza on-site. It is well worth planning a lunch or dinner here. The location is central for exploration of Anderson Valley and Mendocino county. We spent a day around Mendocino that was highlighted by visiting lighthouses. The 1 hour drive to Mendocino is a beautiful drive through a coastal redwood forest. The Madrones will now be my recommendation for friends and family visiting the Anderson Valley.

We took a trip down the coast after our niece’s college graduation from Humboldt State University. The last stop of this week long trek before heading home was Philo, Anderson Valley and the Madrones. A perfect way to end the trip. The folks that run the place are fantastic. They are in the midst of adding more accommodations to the property and if the suite we were in is any indication they will be amazing. Our suite was quite comfortable and had everything one would need. Just a beautiful place. I wish we had planned for another night there. With the many fine wineries located nearby and tasting rooms on the property it’s a fantastic place to stay. We visited Toulouse and Husch on our way to the Madrones and then had lunch at Libby’s, all wonderful. Goldeneye is right next door and there are a few others in short walking distance. Jim and Cindy were great hosts. Jim was«hiding» when we arrived(an hour early) but let us check in so that we could enjoy the room and wineries. Cindy showed us around the property including the new Garden Suite that will be available soon. They really went the extra mile for us as it was Tuesday and two of the four tasting rooms were closed, as was Stone and Embers. We did luck out as a large party booked Stone and Embers and Cindy was able to get us in early to enjoy a very nice meal. She also setup a tasting at Bink for us before dinner. The tasting was great but the conversation even better. We had a blast there and will definitely return but this time for a longer stay. Thanks Jim and Cindy!

I still miss the bed that was in our suite. The man and I went up to the Anderson Valley to hit up my favorite wineries as a birthday treat and a sad goodbye to one of my last weekends in California. This being said we were in a mad scramble for a place to stay as our first arrangement fell through last minute. In comes Jim to save the day! We were able to book the Guest Suite 3 for our Saturday night stay and it was absolutly wonderful. This isnt a full service cater to you every beck and call whim B&B but rather is a nice little guest room perfect for those people that need a home base on their winery adventures. Check in was super easy, a note with our keys was left for us so we could check in any time we needed after wine tasting. The fridge was stocked with goodies to assist us on our first morning. Passes were left for us to enjoy the four tasting rooms that are on site, and a comprehensive list of to-dos was there as well for those that may not be as frequent a visitor as myself. The bed was HUGE… and comfy. I enjoy a firm bed with fluffy soft pillows so it was heaven for me. The room truly had everything we needed to coe back from wine tasting get cleaned up and head out for dinner. Sadly Stone and Embers downstaris was closed by the time we were ready for dinenr but the smells wafting up to our room made us mouth watering hungry. I think what I lvoed most about this place as I felt like I was staying as a privalged guest in a firneds estate in the country. We were given our privacy and the entire area is so beautiufl it wa simply peaceful. We didnt hear a peeps from any of our neighbors, and while we were able to hear some dull noise from the resturant it was gone by 8:30. I hate to gush so lovingly about this place because I want to keep it for myself but I must give it the credit it has due!!! Enchanting and wonderful and I am already planning my next stay for when I am back in Cali.

Madrones is a beautiful boutique resort in Anderson Valley, right in the heart of Mendocino wine country. The lovely guest rooms are individually designed and all are tastefully appointed with fine artwork, four poster beds, high ceilings and bay windows that make a stay there feel both comfortable and luxurious. The property also includes four boutique wine tasting rooms, a Sun and Cricket gift shop with interesting sundries, gorgeous grounds to relax, and an up and coming café called Stone and Embers that was on the verge of completion during our stay in late July and plans to be open this month. The manager Jim is a gracious and personable host. We booked a stay fairly last minute, and Jim was able to accommodate us. The room we stayed in was fantastic! All the modern conveniences like a flat screen TV, Nespresso coffee machine, Wi-Fi, lavish and original décor, a super comfy bed, and treats like warm croissants in the a.m. with some bottled juices and waters in the fridge. Little details like these go a long way… and his gardens are gorgeous, as well as the bird house, and the stonework of the oven to the tea pot in the center parking area is beautiful. The wineries on site – Drew, Signal Hill, Bink and Knez are top notch. Such friendly and informative staff, delicious vino(from chardonnay, rose, and albarino, to the region’s famed pinot noir). We love the Madrones, and you will too when you come for a much needed getaway… 5 cheers to Jim and all that he has created at the Madrones!
