Walnut Park Grill

For me, I go to this place for nostalgic purposes.
I always get the same thing every single time — spicy chicken sandwich and fries. The spicy chicken sandwich is like a buffalo chicken sandwich. I’d have to say the food is above average, but be prepared to wait around 8 – 10 minutes for your food — with or without a line ahead of you.
The place and service are reminiscent of a snack bar at a pool, especially the plastic benches. Don’t get me wrong though, the food is still decent.
If you’re in the area and need food, give it a try. Otherwise, feel confident that you can explore elsewhere as well.

Walnut Park Grill has a great selection of «bar» food, for reasonable prices. Their onion rings and garlic-​oregano fries are quite delicious! If you’re in the mood for some decent grub, this place is definitely worth a try!

Any time I’m in the area I will stop by for the fish tacos. Today I doubled up with tacos and a corn dog with fries. I enjoyed both. Across the street is a nice park. Next time I want to try the Italian Sodas.

I have been to this restaurant a few time because it is conveniently located next to the park and I am disappointed every time. The final visit triggered this review as I was greeted at the window by a young girl who could care less I was there. As she took my order she was looking around, playing with her nails and talking to the other young girl working behind the counter. To my surprise, she did get the order correct however, my corn dog and chicken sandwich took 25 minutes to receive. It was a Sunday afternoon with only a few patrons so the fact that my order took that long was unacceptable. The food is not bad but definitely not worth the wait especially when you have two small hungry kids. I will happily give my money to other local restaurants that will value me as a customer.

So terrible I can’t even begin to explain it! Not only is the food subpar, cheaply made, and badly executed but the service is awful. I got to the restaurant and there was one couple finishing and meal and nobody in line. Despite it being empty all the tables and the window bar had trash and empty cups and food scraps all over them. Red flag number one. I waited at the order window for 5 minutes before someone even looked up at me. When I was finally helped the kid taking my order kept stopping me to run to the back and check on something. Red flag number two. 20 minutes later, after watching the two employees royally screw up several times, my mediocre food. HA! This has got to be a joke. The shake I ordered had been PRE-​MADE! It had obviously been made way in advance and was only poured out when someone ordered it, that’s gotta be the laziest way to ever run a business. It was watery, disgusting, and colorless (I got strawberry). The burger was not good, not the worst ever but not good.
Overall, AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Best salads ever! The chicken comes right off the grill — made to order. And the gyro tastes amazing too. And for a $ 1.89 you can get delicious, hand scooped ice cream in a waffel cone with a generous portion.
Update 8÷6÷15:
This place has started to dissapoint. The last time I went the employees seem disengaged and almost annoyed for no particular reason (I made no special requests) and the quality is not the same as it used to be, the burger I ordered did not taste good and the sweet potatoe fries were super mushy. Sorry guys I am going to have to lower my stars and I probably wont be coming here again. :(

SUPER slow service. Took 35 minutes for fish tacos and one burger. And then the tacos were covered in the onions we specifically asked to be left off. I told the girl behind the counter (Patti) that we’d like our money back for the tacos, simply because we didn’t have time to wait another 35 minutes for them to recook the fish (I planned to keep the fish & just try to pick the onions off, but didn’t think we should have to pay for the wrong food after such a long wait). Patti said «ok» but then took the food out of my hands and refused to give it back. She stated she had to take the food because of «the hidden cameras.» She told me my only option was to wait again (and she didn’t know how long). Ended up leaving without food. Patti said I could talk to her boss, who of course wasn’t there. Terrible experience with rude service.

This review is hard, because the food is good and the milkshakes are amazing but the customer service/​staff SUCK. I called to put in a order to be picked up and it was a small order, lrg fries, onion rings and a milkshake and they wouldn’t take it over the phone because the girl said that the order was to small then she added that their closing in 20 minutes and I would need to be down there within 5 minutes to order it in person. They just lost a sale, maybe not a very big one but still a sale. Get better staff, all very very rude.

THE BEST FISH TACOS, sweet potatoes and also one of my fave BLTs. I always get extra chipotle sauce.

Five stars for the great food at a great price. The outdoor seating isn’t so great with the wind. The burger was awesome and the girl who took my order was really cute. All in all, five stars.

Slow service (25 minutes for two burgers and a side), very mediocre food, and they cannot seem to take an order with alterations.
For a «fast food» place that’s going to try to charge two people 25 – 30 $ for a burger/​side/​drink, you need to do better in both quality and speed. I’m fairly certain they’re using the same Costco bulk canned stuff we used at the snack bar in high school. I would not come back for another try. I’d rather go out to sequoia burger in Sebastopol or healdsburger if I’m feeling an urge for a decent burger. If I find myself desperate over here again I’ll just go to in-​n-​out.

I really love the location and style of this place. The prices and quality of the food are great. The food is delicious and you feel well fed, rather than greasy and regretful. I highly recommend you give it a chance if in the area!

I only tried the sweet potato fries after running an errand at the post office, but they have the best sweet potato fries anywhere ! The fries are not thin, crisp on the outside, and flavorful all around. I will definitely be back to try something else soon !

Classic, old fashioned hamburgers and great shakes, but the service was really slow when I was there, and don’t expect much in terms of ambiance. It’s good for warm summer evenings if you’re in the area, but it’s nothing too special.

Their burgers are great, but really what I love are their chicken tenders. Though I ave to warn you, if you’re going for their chicken tenders, it is a kids meal (with fries and everything) so I recommend grabbing 2 orders since an order only comes with 2 tenders.
They somehow manage to have a great, crisp breading on it while keeping the chicken itself pretty tender.
If you’re in the mood to overindulge, get a milkshake. Their milkshakes are SO GOOD!
And if Patty is there, she’ll make your day. She’s got the sweetest smile and is just so nice.

Food was cooked to order (meaning it was cooked after we ordered it @people who are crying, little butt munchers complaining about the wait) Our food was fresh and hot. People who want instant food that has been sitting out all day should go to taco bell or mcdonalds lol. I thought most people had enough common sense to realize if their food is taking awhile, it’s most likely being freshly cooked. Guess not. shouldn’t be surprised though yall are prolly the same people bichin about buffalo wild wings (see review)
Anyways. I got the bacon cheeseburger and it was pretty good. Wife got fish tacos and she loved them. Were pretty picky people. If you have ever been to any kind of sports stadium and walked past the concession stand and got a wiff of the food… that is what this place smells like. Definitely could see this food being served at a football stadium. Dono if that makes sense or not lol.
The only thing I didn’t really like was I ordered a bottle of water and it was slightly warmer than room temp haha. Whatever though, water is water.

This place has gone through many incarnations over the decades. It’s currently Walnut Park Grill, across the street from Walnut Park (creative).
The menu is surprisingly big, mostly featuring burgers, hot dogs, fries (regular or sweet potato), and milkshakes. They were fairly busy on the Sunday afternoon when we visited, but I was still a little taken aback at how looooong it took to get our burger, chicken sandwich, and sweet potato fries. Seriously, there’s got to be a way to get these basic items out in less than half an hour.
The food was tasty, but I’m not sure I’ll bother with it again if there’s more than 2 people ahead of me.

Right across from the post office: Niman Ranch Beef, Fries, Soft Serve, and Shakes — you can have them all for a small fee and a trip to the window.
…Yeah, if I hung out all day or night at Lagunitas and had to wake up and take care of kids, I would stop here before dropping them at the park.
I personally can only speak to the soft serve, but everything else looked legit. My cone was $ 2, sweet, and creamy vanilla ice cream. Sadly, they were out of chocolate… next time!
