Pensacola Beach House

Great place to get a drink or quick bite to eat while waiting for a flight. Place was clean and servers were friendly. Prices were reasonable.

Service questionable, but food was a pleasant surprise.
I sat at a table first because the bar was full. After 10 minutes it became apparent I would not get served at a table for a very long time, if ever. I crammed into the bar and was served immediately. Good beer selection for an airport. I ordered the Pimento Cheese sandwich with fries. Fries where excellent. Thick cut starch dredged fries. Outside was crispy and inside soft. Just the way I like fries. Excellent.
Sandwich was very well grilled Texas toast with a thick layer of pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes. This was for sure a knife and fork sandwich, but was an excellent sandwich, and certainly the best vegetarian sandwich I have ever had at an airport.

This is a nice bar in the airport. Service is good and they try to accommodate special requests. They don’t have to go drinks though. That’s a bummer for those of us who like to take our water & soft drinks to go.

I had two drinks and charged $ 34. That’s outrageous and unexceptable for a bar like this to charge so much. I can afford it, but it’s an airport bar. Brink ur credit card. So stupid, ur not a vegas club

The Pensacola Beach House restaurant (aka Beach House) is fairly new to the Pensacola airport. It was written up by Travel and Leisure. The article indicated that the restaurant would be opened by a Top Chef alum. It also recommended ordering the gulf shrimp and fried green tomatoes. Normally, I’d think that would be a good indicator of exceptional items to try. I did say, Normally.
We hadn’t decided what meal to order yet so put in an order for the fried green tomato appetizer. Later we decided on our entrees and I ended up ordering the shrimp po boy. Server asked if I wanted fries or a salad. I ordered a small salad with ranch assuming one of those sides were included with my order.
Our entrees were served first … no appetizer until we commented to server that we hadn’t even received the appetizer. He assured us it would be coming shortly. The fried green tomatoes were the worst we had ever had. You couldn’t even cut them with a fork. They were really green, green tomatoes. Besides that if you tried to cut the tomatoes, the batter slid right off. Awful. Obviously, we sent them back.
The shrimp po boy was very good but I was served fries instead of the side salad. When the bill came there was an additional charge for the fries. The server explained the charge was the same as for the salad. I would have been willing to pay extra for the salad I had ordered but not for the fries I didn’t order and didn’t eat.
Husband just ordered soup so he was good to go. When a restaurant makes one mistake, you’re willing to overlook it but this place had trouble getting anything right.
The two stars is for my sandwich otherwise we would have rated it a «1».

Bar at the airport where they ID you for water. Then refuse to make eye contact so you can’t get a refill. Then ID you again when you do actually order a drink. All without a smile.

Horrible, and only restaurant airport with a bar.
Waited 10 minutes in a small, half-​empty place watching teenage staff avoid my table because I’m a woman traveling solo. Clearly no management in sight.
Tables were generally unbussed and staff were in no hurry to help anyone, let alone me. Watching irritated teenagers preferring to gossip rather than DO THEIR JOBS FOR WHICH THEY ARE PAID was most annoying of all.
Saw the table next to me receive mediocre looking fried food and decided the Chick-​Fil-​A across the way would not only be faster but better.
Unless you’re a fan of Chick-​Fil-​A, eat before you head to the airport and avoid this place.
And I’d rather get an drink on the plane than suffer through such bad service.
