This wine tasting room is HUGE. The wine tasting room décor and structure were very classy. Good service from our wine pourer — not overly talkative and gave us our space. Heart Hill can be seen out of the window while you drink. I believe they were working on constructing the patio area when we visited on a Monday in Mid-June. We shared a tasting($ 15) and ended up purchasing one bottle of Sangiovese(tasting fee is waived so it was kind of like buying half of a bottle of wine). We enjoyed all of the wines. Very pleasant experience.

This review is for the restaurant at Niner. We had a fabulous lunch(they are open for lunch only, Thursday-Sunday). The restaurant is inside the winery, which is an impressive stone structure with soaring ceilings. The setting in the vineyards makes for a lovely view. We began with the Garden Inspired Salad, which depends on what is harvested from the estate garden. That day there were small potatoes dressed in a creamy mustard sauce, green beans with capers, and green and red cabbage, all topped with a hard-boiled egg. It was plated like you would find in France, with the individual items separate but next to one another or on top of one another. Refeshing start to the meal. We had a 7 year-old dining with us, and she loved the hard-boiled egg so much she asked for another – twice!!! They served it halved, with an edible flower. So, for a kid, attention to plating detail. A nice touch. We then had the Prince Edward Island Mussels in a scrumptious tomato fennel broth with sausage and chick peas. They should serve this dish with bread to soak up all that great broth. We had to ask for bread, which came quickly, and was served with a blend of 3 estates EVOOs. We repeat ordered the bread a couple of times. Very good with the EVOO, too. There was a very generous serving of mussels, plenty for two or three. The both was excellent, and the addition of the chick peas added another dimension. We shared the Chêvre Sopes, which were, frankly, simply amazing. A sope is a Mexican sort of tortilla, but not. I thought the sope was a bit like a firm, amost crunchy, base of polenta. On top of the sope was a bit of smooth, creamy goat cheese topped with sauteed kale, oyster mushrooms and a beet salsa. Just an incredible dish with all sorts of flavors perfectly combined and textures that were crunchy and smooth and soft all at the same time. My wife wanted to come back the next day and have these again. A perfect dish that, on paper, doesn’t necessarily sound like it would be. There is a kid’s menu, so besides her 3 hard-boiled eggs, our munchkin had a very tasty grilled cheese sandwich with fresh fruit. We paired the 2013 Niner Pinot Noir with our starters and the 2013 Niner Grenache with the sopes. Both were quite nice, and next time we’ll do a wine tasting prior to lunch. I highly recommend trying the Niner restaurant for an elegant, refined lunch. Prices are more than reasonable for the quality and creativity of the food. Chef Maegan Loring deserves high praise for what she continues to accomplish.

We have been members of your winery for many years. We look forward to every time we travel to the Central Coast to visit your tasting room. Your tasting room staff seems excited to see us too! Ha! They greet us like we are guests in their home. We followed Teresa here when she left her previous job! She is an absolute asset to the Niner Family! She is always cheerful and is knowledgeable about your wines. Jay and Arceny have always been welcoming and friendly. Christine also is a great member of the Niner staff. Andrew is the newest member that we enjoy talking to on our visits to Niner. Alicia has been very helpful with the wine club shipments. Your wines are excellent and we love the ambiance of the tasting room and grounds. Locals that we know in the area always rave about your restaurant. We need to find time to eat there! We did attend a «Pop Up» dinner and it was absolutely delicious. The wine flowed as did the conversations around our table. We look forward to our next visit! This winery has really great wine. We stopped by on impulse and was pleasantly surprised by the reds. Real nice atmosphere, they have a restaurant that we didn’t have time to try. I will though on my next visit, I liked what I saw on the menu. Great patio for conversation and sipping your wine

While my initial visit in 2013 left much to be desired, a return completely changed my opinion! The wines were fantastic, with a variety of price points, they had a fabulous restaurant with tasty cuisine and it still had all the same beautiful landscaping id loved on my last visit. Big thumbs up on all the great updates!

On vacation with my lady, we stopped here for some appetizers & wine. We had excellent service provided by Frank. He was very informative about all the different types of wines. The views at this place are incredible! Definitely would come back!

This was our first stop and it was great. The steward was great, friendly and knowledgable. The wines were excellent, and reasonably priced. The tasting room is huge, but a bit modern without any atmosphere. It was a bit sterile. There were some screaming kids and a worker came out from the back to shoosh them, which we thought was funny, but they really should have scolded the parents instead. Plenty of room outside to taste and enjoy the heart shaped bushes up in the hill. The grounds themselves are worth the visit. They offered us suggestions on where to visit as well. Wines are reasonably priced.

Heaven on a plate in the most besutiful setting on the Paso Wine Trail! Best day ever!!! Best food, best view, best manager… did I miss something… oh yeah fabulous wine!!! I met a girlfriend here for lunch and we had the most memorable and enjoyable afternoon. I’m glad there were a few empty tables because we stayed there for hours. We kept ordering and sharing food, so many amazing items. It isn’t a huge list, just everthing is delicious. I have to say this is one of the best kept secrets of Paso Wine Country. If you don’t stop by you are missing one of the most fabulous experiences of the Paso Wine Trail. Fresh??? They have have their own gardens(you can see the raised boxes from the outside dining area) where they grow the ingredients they use in their food, can’t get fresher than that! We shared the steak and braised ribs, a few appetizers, deserts, french pressed coffee and yummy chocolate salted carmel drink. Every sauce and item is well thought out, seasoned, yummy and presented perfectly. It was all so amazing I forgot to take more photos… shoot, I’m sorry… someone please help me out here(ok maybe it was the wine as well). Guess I have to go back, darn! The hospitality is also so fabulous as, the manager is just a doll, he pitches in to help the servers. We mentioned it was getting cool(because we camped there so long) and he grabbed one of the heaters and rolled it right over for us, didn’t wait for someone else to to it, he just jumped right on it. Said he didn’t want us to wait. There is inside dining available(beautiful and high end) but it is always so gorgeous outside with the Paso sunshine we wanted to enjoy being out(again we just stayed so late that it cooled down). This really fills a gap of something we are missing in the region, outside dining. We have such amazing weather and so many sunny days but we have limited outside dining options(alwasys amazes me vs. Europe… limited sunny days but outside dining everywhere). So when you want to enjoy a perfect day outside with perfect food, wine and atmosphere this is the place. Even if it isn’t a perfect outside day the food is so amazing and the restaurant inside is beautiful too. Love, love, love it… oh and did I say love it. «I’ll be back.!»

After an afternoon whale watching, my family and I decided to go try out one of our favorite wineries. We were most definitely not dressed for the occasion, but still stopped by for a tasting and hopefully a wine membership. We were given nowhere near the same attention as the other individuals/groups that were in attendance, as we must not have looked the part. We had to constantly go back to the bar to refill our glasses, were told literally nothing about what we were drinking, and were generally disregarded. This would have been less frustrating had we not brought my father in law who has pretty significant mobility issues. The pourers were unbelievably pretentious, and were not in the least bit helpful. My wife wanted to try a wine which they did not have opened, and was totally shut down. It was a $ 22 bottle of wine, not some of their top shelf stuff. We ended up purchasing a bottle regardless. She expressed that we were all feeling out of place, and was told that we would have our tasting comped. This is a pretty shitty response, as when you purchase a bottle of wine, most wineries will comp your tasting anyway. Thanks for the $ 14 I guess… we can use that at one of our other three wine memberships around the Bay Area. The grounds are nice, but the staff essentially ruined the experience for us. It was a pretty shitty case of judging a book by it’s cover, and I do not think we will ever purchase Niner wine again.

I will defiantly return the next time I do a tasting down highway 46! Venue: Absolutely gorgeous venue. The grounds are vast and very welcoming. If you come with a group, there is plenty of space outside to sit with them and have a picnic. At sunset, it is stunning. Wine: So tasty and consistent! I walked away with three wines. Service: Our attendant started out a little reserved but when she found us to be friendly and open, she relaxed and became very helpful and talkative about the wine. When we(myself and two others) tried the Pinot Noir, she directed us to the Pinot Noir sniffing station so that we could pick out the different nuances in the wine. I thought it was a clever station to provide.

Loved, loved, loved the wines here. I think they actually get better every time we’re there! The manager(sorry we didn’t catch your name) was more than hospitable. He told us some of their future plans for the winery. Looking forward to that! Unfortunately, we weren’t there on a day their restaurant was open because the menu looked amazing! Definitely a MUST stop if you’re in Paso!

We love being able to go to these pick-up parties! The food is great, the wine is great and this time, with the parings, totally outstanding! Thank you, Niner!

We belong to Niner’s wine club because of a number of reasons: 1. The wines are excellent, some of the best in this region.(That hasn’t always been the case, but now is different. The vines are more mature and I think the winemaker may different than a few years ago). Members get a nice discount on the wine too. 2. The location is very scenic. Heart Hill is a natural wonder. 3. The pick-up parties are the absolute best in this area! Well planned and executed, not crowded, very generous with both wine and food. 4. The small café there has outstanding food from chef Maegen Loring. 5. The people are always friendly and seem happy to be there. 6. They are conveniently located on Hwy. 46 West(no having to drive the scenic, but slow & winding, Vineyard Drive).

This was our 2nd stop of the day for wine tasting. Nice tasting room, but not exactly the friendliest staff. When I walked in towards the tasting area, no one greeted me or offered to help so I moved towards another empty area where finally someone came to help. Towards half of the tasting, the lady that was helping us wasn’t to be found so another staff helped and finished us off instead so that was a little annoying. We did the Estate Tasting Flight for $ 10, which included: — 2013 Chardonnay — 2013 Pinot Noir — 2013 Grenache — 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon — 2012 Malbec — 2013 Syrah I was quite surprised that I enjoyed every single one of the wines, which is pretty rare, but my favorites were the Chardonnay and the Malbec so we bought a bottle of each. All their wines were young, but very drinkable now and good as everyday wines. We decided to join the club as they were doing promos of 30% discounts on purchases. It wasn’t until we already filled out the form that we were informed that we had to stick with the club for at least 2 shipments before canceling. I’ve never joined a wine club that required a commitment so that was a turn off. 4 stars for the wines, 3 stars for the service and wine club commitment.

Beautiful surroundings, impressive building, and the food looks great(we were too early to eat there). However, the woman pouring for us was condescending from the start, and when we declined to buy anything, it didn’t improve her opinion of us and it showed. Won’t return there.

Niner is what a winery should be all about: great wines accompanied by knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and friendly service. The fact that they also occupy a f’n castle on beautiful grounds with a great view is an irrelevant yet totally enjoyable bonus. Niner was on my short-list of must-visit wineries during our Paso trip. Our local wine bar, Relm, serves their Petite Syrah and Cabernet, both of which I’ve drank repeatedly. Our Niner tastetender(winehostess, grapeslinger, ???) on hearing my existing love for the only two Niner wines I’d ever known, went well beyond what would be included in the typical tasting. Yes, the Petite Syrah and Cab were available and excellent, but I also even enjoyed their Chardonnay and Grenache Rose, two varietals that I typically avoid. Our tender even took photos of us outside. Now that’s just too damn nice. A group of guys from Brazil were tasting at the time we were there. They were on a trip from LA to SF via Hwy 1 and took a detour inland for some wine. They picked the right detour.
