You HAVE to get the Jasmine Hand Roll. It was invented by the owner and it is to die for. I love this little hole-in-the-wall place. Fresh fish, all you can eat, and great service. I can’t wait to go back!

One of our long time favorites. Received recommendation from a friend 13 years ago. Have returned many, many times and Jason has never let us down.

I used to come here more often. I just recently came here for lunch, and it was okay. We were the only ones there at that time, so service was attentive. The fish is pretty fresh. It’s not the best sushi I have had, but it wasn’t also the worst. The fish on the nigiri is a good size, but they put way too much rice with it. I do love their jasmine roll, and I think that would mainly be the reason why I would come back. I’ve been to so many all you can eat sushi places and no one has a hand roll that is comparable to the jasmine. I’m a little torn when it comes to this place. The workers and sushi chefs are very nice. I only wish they would improve their menu and fish to rice ratio to keep up with other AYCE sushi joints.

Love this small, quaint dive bar. Service is always on point. Chef Jason Kim has 10+ years experience @ this location, and is always quality oriented. Great Lunch Specials. Website allows online ordering with Easy pick up(@ 10% discount), or free delivery over $ 25.00. Foods always fresh to order, fast most importantly delish! This has always kinda been my spot — always has a Seat at either the intimate marble bar or select tables throughout. The AYCE I believe is around 24.95 $, and I do recommend this if you and guest are there and down to try some new things. Albacore — Tuna Always Melts in your Mouth. It’s time people have a different option from Ichima, Roku, or Benihana… Huge SushiYa Fan. Nice Sake’ selection, W /Ichiban, Saporro and Kirin Ice Cold and Bottled. Thanks Chef Kim. C U Soon. AJB

I guess I only eat sushi on Sundays, because this is the second time lately where I’ve gone to get sushi on Sunday, only to find my regular place is closed! Lucky for Sushi Ya, they are open on Sundays! And they are one of the few sushi places in the neighborhood that is! I was really sick this day so I only ordered miso soup and tempura, but it was great. I will definitely consider Sushi Ya in the future!

Came here for dinner, Ayce sushi. Was 28 before tax. Food — choice is limited compared to other places but not by much. –quality wasn’t to bad but the cuts were too big. –first time I ate more rolls than Nigiri cause it was better Service –takes awhile to get your food. There’s seating for like maybe 15 people with 1 server and 1 chef.(Came on a Tuesday night around 6) — 1 hour limit to eat and they are very strict about it. They never brought back our paper after round 1 and told us we couldn’t order anymore. Overall –not bad but probably wouldn’t go back.

I ordered for delivery and got a fire cracker roll, a crunch dragon roll and a calamari tempura roll. I did the delivery through eat 24 and it arrived very quickly. Fire cracker roll — top: spicy tuna inside: crab, scallop, avocado This roll had very yummy ingredients inside. it has too much sauce for my liking, it saturates the rest of the roll. Also, for being called the firecracker, it’s not very spicy. Crunch dragon roll — it is like your typical dragon roll at any sushi restaurant, but they used quality ingredients. No complaints. Calamari tempura roll– it was good, the Calamari was cooked perfectly, only complaint is that it had a bit too much batter. All in all, I like this sushi restaurant more than others in the area(kabuki, ichima). Will come here again when craving sushi near-by.

One of my favorite places for sushi. The rice is amazing. The sushi pieces are generous. And the home like atmosphere of the owner and her son is like no other. Whenever I come to Pasadena this is an absolute must stop!

If you’re in the area and craving some sushi, this is the place to go! Service is quick and friendly, there’s free parking, and the sushi is amazing! My friend and I ordered the firecracker, rainbow roll and the spicy crunch roll. All three were terrific! Add some spicy mayo, and you’ll be golden. They have AYCE but we opted for a la carte since we weren’t too hungry that evening. Otherwise, they had a lot of other options as far as appetizers and udon. They even have a sushi burrito! I’ll definitely be back to try different rolls!

Was around the area and wanted ayce sushi. The Calamari was wonderful. Not hard to bite, soft and not drenched in oil and seasoning. Shrimp tempura and tuna rolls were delicious. Rolls were a bit loose, but it still tastes good. Not too much variety like…(Sushi damu) but hey, not gunna complain as the taste was yum. There’s only one big chef it seemed today(Thursday), and ayce is only one hour. The wait time was about 15 minutes, and then the food kept us busy and just kept coming. We left 20 minutes left on the time and stopped after round one. Didn’t notice much desserts other than a candy bowl sitting by the door in the shop. I am not sure if I’ll come again, but it was a nice experience. This place is one of those«it was good but ehh» Two people, 25.95 per person. ended d up with a 56 $ bill, ordered about seven items and got full. They have interesting rules to if there’s rice left, they’ll charge«to-go» price. There was kinda lots of rice. I left full so … Good enough. I guess.(:

EXCELLENT and they are open fridY and Saturdays despite another review. We absolutely loved this place. We are avid sushi eaters and are quite picky. Sushi was excellent, fresh, and tasty. The bento box was equally as good. To top it off our service was outstanding. They were short handed but one wouldn’t know it. Our food arrived quickly. The owner was even helping out with bringing the food out. She was going around to all the customers ensuring everyone was taken care of. I can’t say enough about this place. In addition to the above the green tea ice cream(yum) is complimentary! We are not from the area and truly lucked out with this pick. We will definitely come bAck agAin when in town.

Small, cozy spot. From the outside seems a bit old, but inside is nice! They have AYCE option for $ 25.95. The owner is super friendly and funny. She’s Japanese and likes to chat. Like other people said! I really suggest you the rolls. Especially the Jasmine roll and the crunchy! They were tasty. Sushi is good, but not outstanding. I think they put too much rice. But I prefer rolls, so… :) The food came out fresh. and fast. Try the tempura! Parking is available. I will come back! Thanks again Unilocalers for letting me find this place!

The sushi is top notch! Whoever is in charge of picking and managing the fish knows what they are doing. The service is friendly and let’s just call it relaxed. Don’t be surprised if the sushi chef is lounging at one of the tables reading a book when you enter. That’s been the case a few times that we’ve gone. My favorites are: Salmon roll… It’s simple, incredibly fresh a tasty every time. For me a mark of a good sushi joint is when their simple rolls are great. Hamachi Kama… Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Don’t forget the hidden meat under the cartilage it’s the best part! The only thing I haven’t liked in 5 – 10 visits is the fried calamari. It was like little onion rings with no flavor. The place is tiny and parking is limited. Also, they are closed on Saturday.

I just got my food delivered by an 11 year old. Ok, family business, I get it. But I ordered through Eat24’s app. So it was prepaid. He hands me the slip, I sign and say thank you! As I turn to set down the food and reach for my wallet he says, «Um, you still owe us a tip.» Excuse me? I tell him, «I’m sorry, but no, I don’t OWE you a tip…» And he replies that his boss(probably mom or dad) «requires a tip.» You’ve got to be kidding me. I try to explain as nicely as I can that no one ever ‘owes’ anyone a tip. I don’t ‘owe’ his boss more money than the food actually costs, and he can’t ‘require’ a tip from anyone. It’s not how tipping and the law work. I told him I was about to tip him, but that’s MY choice. Now this poor kids all sad and scared looking and says ‘ok’ and starts to walk away. I stop him and say no I was going to tip anyway, but this is for you. It’s your tip and your money. I don’t know what the deal was but that was super sketch. The kid isn’t even old enough to be working, and it looks like he probably hands all tips over to his mom or dad. I should’ve gone out to the street and talked to whoever drove him there about this required tip thing. Poor kid. Never ordering from them again, may even have someone look into their business practices. Hope the foods good, I’m about to find out.

AYCE! Yes! But ONE hour literally ONE hour time. They will time you like any other place but if they are busy oh well. And if they run out of rice and you have to wait for it to cook then oh well it goes into your hour! Which is BS! But oh yes I did let them know I was going to order more even tho it’s not my fault they ran out of rice. OH and to even make it worse they only have one sushi chef! So it took longer for him to make all those rolls and stuff for us and other guest. YES! The sushi is GOOD! Don’t get me wrong. But they do put way to much rice. Maybe that is the problem. You try to fill us up with rice so we don’t order more but then it back fires and you run out of rice and you have nothing to do but stand there. I wonder how you guys are during Friday nights since you are open late.(Which I read on Unilocal!) Everything was great service was great. I don’t know if the waitress was their kid but she was on point! And the delivery guy! A young boy maybe 13. Does he drive or what? Cause it is a 3 miles radius. But he is on point also. Getting the order and delivering it. The place is small can’t really have a big group of more than ten or you will wait. Next door is the donut and massage place. Small Parking you share with La Estrella also.

Not bad! I was worried because there were many recent one-star reviews but I decided why not. I’m glad I tried! I went around 8 o’clock on a tuesday during dinner and the place was pretty full. It was small and the sign wasn’t even on when we got there but the inside seemed very lively. We just sat down at the corner of the bar but I immediately noticed my seat was dirty. Turns out the seat just hadn’t been cleaned yet, so I moved over because another party was supposed to be sitting there as well. The server who was a super sweet older asian lady kept apologizing, which I really appreciated. Right after we got settled the sushi chef got us started right away. We ordered soooo much sushi. I took a picture of our order sheet and my boyfriend and I alone ate about 80 dollars of sushi. For pigs like us, all you can eat is a much better option than going a la carte. I’m glad I found this place. To set things straight, I’m not a sushi expert like most Unilocalers. I like rolls that are drenched in sweet sauce and spicy mayo as long as they taste good. I’m not someone to be stingy about rice temperature or anything else like that. So when the rainbow roll and the tuna lover’s roll came out for our first plate, my hungry boyfriend and I dove into the plate and finished it super quickly. The chef definitely works fast, because our lobster roll and another roll came out while we were still eating the roll. The first bite of our meal was glorious. The fish was flavorful and I couldn’t help but awe at the taste after the first bite. I couldn’t help but notice how the fish on top of the rolls were poorly attached to the rice. It tasted amazing, but the presentation is part of the game too, you know! My favorite part had to be the nigiri. The salmon melted in my mouth and the albacore was HUGE in proportion to the rice. I wish they had onion bits on top of the albacore but it was still good. I’m a roll person but the nigiri was seriously amazing. Totally considering going back and just ordering a bunch of nigiri. When my meal was done, I thought I was going to go crazy. My stomach was beyond full and I couldn’t bother to stand up from my chair for a minute or two. When my check came and I finished the transaction, the asian lady came to me and complimented me about how nice I was with a huge smile on her face. I feel like she might have felt as if she was seeing her own daughter or something but she was seriously the cutest and the sweetest. She was slow with giving service but it’s because she tries to make interaction with every customer. The chef was nice too! I didn’t get to talk to him or anything but he was generous with giving more ginger and other requests. I noticed a certificate on their wall that thanked them for their 10+ years of service. If a place stays in business for more than ten years, you know they’re doing something right. I had a good time! Will be back again :)
