I am writing this review with a heavy heart. I really wanted to love this place. I got a groupon so I went and ordered 2 fajitas — one chicken, one steak for carry out. Cashing in the voucher was no problem. The owner even comped the extra $ 1 I owed and said to tell my friends about them. I wish I could give them a glowing recommendation, but sadly, I cannot. My fajitas had a lot of strong flavor and I rarely say this but they were too salty. The real kicker was the portion size. For $ 10 – 12 I basically got 2 tacos worth of fajita meat. Really small portions. I wouldn’t say to avoid this place but I will say that in my almost 30 years of fajita enjoyment, this is the only place I can say that messed up a fajita.

I do not know how this place received 4 ½ stars. We went on a Friday night expecting to have an excellent Mexican dinner. We ordered spicy queso, chicken fajitas, and the Honduras pork-chop. The problems started when we went to order drinks, no alcoholic beverages, no diet sodas, no ice tea, no coffee. Really? The queso tasted like cheese soup from a can with added chipped beef. It was blah and not spicy with stale chips from a bag. The chicken fajitas were for lack of a better description just sub par. The Porkchop was overcooked, like a piece of pork jerky. The rice seemed to be that out a box. And the condiments were lacking. The service however was very good, the waitress was very friendly, talkative, and attentive. We will not be returning.

I read all the great reviews and decided to give it a try. We arrived at 6:30 on a Thursday night and the door was locked. No note, the lights were on and the tv was on. No one picked up the phone either.

Hidden little gem in Pasadena, the food is amazing I have to say. Staff is friendly and fast also. Definitely a good spot for dinner or lunch

We arrived a few minutes before our order was ready. Impressive only begins my review. The staff is knowledgeable, courteous, experienced, friendly, accommodating. The food is authentic and so good, we’re another customer added to their list of regulars. The family leaving as we entered were dancing, smiling to their car and obviously had a pleasant experience dining in. It’s nice and cute inside, with a good parking lot. Stop hesitating and try for yourself, even if it’s carry out like we tried tonight. What’s your your favorite Start with ordering that It will be great

Amazing food that is authentic and really shows the love they put in their food. Being from Florida and visiting California frequently, I can say from experience with eating a lot of Hispanic cuisine that this place is legit. Real authentic food that is not a salty Tex-Mex mess with cheese smothered on everything. I recommend the pollo guisado(chicken stew with potatoes). They also make the best empanadas I have ever had!!! They should open up a food truck for empanadas in the DMV area and show those crappy food trucks what good food is. Oh well, wishful thinking. Hope you all can really enjoy their food sometime!

Love this place: Authentic food. Clean. Nice people. We wait about 30 min for our food, but I’m guessing it’s because they prepare it when you order. I’d recommend this place to anyone. Oh, and I’m Salvadoran, so I know good, authentic Hispanic food when I taste it!

Mediocre food, bad service, no atmosphere, generic and poorly decorated dining room. Waittress more interested in playing on her laptop than attending to customers. How the hell did this place get 4.5 stars?

Being from Southern California, we have been on the lookout for authentic, delicious Mexican/Latin American food since we have moved to Maryland. We were excited to see this restaurant in Pasadena and had to try it. We were not disappointed! Absolutely delicious food, very authentic flavor, quality ingredients and lovely presentation. Los Mayas has the best Mexican food we have had in Maryland. It is very clean and nicely but simply appointed, and the owners are warm and friendly. This is a place that will become a favorite for us!

yummmmm-i-licious! Los Mayas Café is a great addition to our growing collection of great food finds here in thePasadena-Glen Burnie area. Quaint, clean, and very friendly. We ordered Spicy Queso, Sope with Chorizo & Carne Guizadas… ALLWEREGREATLYSEASONED and TASTY. Glad we have an authentic Mexican Restaurant not far from home.

This pace makes authentic Mexican food in a authentic Mexican dessert. This is the best place in the area to get their street style tacos, with a side of jalapeño sauce or their crisp fluata cousins, which comes with a red sauce and queso fresco. I also had their nachos, which were abundantly loaded with meat, cheese, and refried beans.

I was looking for a place to eat since I was in the area. Found this place on Unilocal and decided to try based on the reviews. I had the chicken tacos which were pretty legit. They were simply topped with cilantro and onion, nothing fancy but so perfect! Unfortunately, at least on this day, there was only one server, and I think one chef. Our wait time was way too long. Maybe due to them being new? We ended up being late to our event. This was after allotting 1 ½ hours to eat.

Very good food. Slow service but definitely not a deal breaker. I had the chile relleno and it was delicious. Would be 5 stars if service was more attentive. I hope this place stays around for a long time!

This place is a real treat to have in Pasadena. My husband and I recently got carry out from Los Mayas and we will certainly be returning for more. First of all the staff were very friendly and the restaurant itself is clean and cute. We had the Chicken Nachos and Papusas for an appetizer. Both were very flavorful and well prepared. For an entrée I had the Chicken Tacos which were very authentic and delicious. My husband had the Stewed Beef and when I tried a bite of his I wished I would’ve ordered that for myself. All of the dishes were accompanied by a variety of tasty sauces that complimented them well. If you are in the Pasadena area and are looking for something different, you should definitely try Los Mayas.

Love this place. The papusa was excellent. Nice to see something authentic in Pasadena instead of a pizza place or fast food. Service was slow. Also very reasonable prices and good portions.

We found this place by accident but will definitely be coming back. The staff was friendly and the food was awesome. We got the chicken sope and the Mayan chicken, both were wonderful. The spicy queso was a perfect way to start the meal. If they get their liquor license and I can get a beer or margarita with my meal it would be near perfection.

Definitely worth stopping and trying. The fries are spectacular and although I only tried a few other things, I was more than satisfied. This place is very close to me, so I’d like to see it stick around. Pasadena needs more places like this.

Sunday night and this place was a ghost town. Service was fantastic, girl at the counter was incredibly friendly and helpful. We got the Pupusas as an appetizer, fiancé liked them, but they were fairly bland tasting to me. Fiancé got the Chuleta, and was very satisfied. He loved the whole meal. I ordered the Sope de Pollo and wasn’t super impressed. I didn’t get the whole authentic vibe everyone has been raving about, it tasted fairly average to me. It’s a nice little hole in the wall, clean and unassuming. I wouldn’t be opposed to eating here again.

This place is awesome. Authentic food and everything is excellent. The prices are very reasonable and every staff member is great. It’s a family business and they all work hard to make it a success. I’m addicted to the chicken tacos Mexicanos and I go at least once a week for my fix!

So I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while now and today for lunch was the ideal opportunity. All I can say is so far so good. Very good actually. I ordered the Mayan Chicken with Chips and it was delicious. This isn’t some BS boneless/skinless chicken breast. This is a proper chunk of chicken, bones and all, fried very crisp and covered with a wonderful shredded cabbage slaw, salsa, and surrounded with plantain chips. This place is run by some very nice people just trying to fulfill a dream of owning their own restaurant that produces great, traditional Honduran family recipies. Give them a shot. I’m very happy I did.
